why can't they marry like i can?
no one says they can't marry... where did you get that?

The laws that prohibit it in some states maybe?? Come on now.

there is no law that say someone that is gay cannot marry...any gay can get married just like anyone else... the law says it has to be a man and a woman that gets married, not two men or two women...being gay has nothing to do with getting married

Oh give me a damn break! Yeah technically they can marry, but to do that they'd have to go against their own feelings. Thus, this fails, it does not work. How would you like it, if the law said you had to marry someone of the same sex to marry?

so how is that inequality? they have the same rights as anyone that is not gay, and that is not equal?

Because they'd have to change to be equal, and that's absolute garbage. I can't even believe you're trying to use this argument, you make yourself look very foolish.

ok, since i'm so foolish... i can marry any woman i want, any gay man can marry any woman he wants... i cannot marry another man... niether can a gay man... any woman can marry any guy she wants... so can any gay woman... straight women cannot marry another woman, neither can gay women... so where is this inequality???? it is perfectly equal, you can't get more equal than that

the argument is not about equality in the sense of equality apparently,, its about equality in the sense of 'love'

everyone marrying whom they 'love' ,, with no condition, would be equal

yet I apparently offend when I suggest that siblings should likewise be afforded that 'equality' and minors(with parental consent),,,,

we arent completely equal, if the law says men can marry women and women can marry men, thats about as fair as it gets if it applies to all men and all women

No it is not fair. Pay attention here, if they cannot marry whom they want to marry, and instead they have to bow down to what others think defines a marriage before they can legally do it, it is very much unfair.

follow this logic

IF I cant practice law and instead have to bow down to what others believe makes me 'qualified' to practice law before I can legally do it,, it is unfair,,,

not

Law and sexual preference are not the same thing!! One thing requires a step naturally, the other is just built in to the person.

IM not comparing law and sexual preference,, follow closely

Im comparing practicing law and marrying

both require 'steps', both have conditions attached that are decided by others,,,

Well the latter shouldn't, period. Love is love.

so why put age restrictions on it,,,,?

why put any biological condition on it at all?

Because, they can't marry whom they really would want to. That you can't understand this simple concept just astounds me.

You know the more you talk, the more ignorant you make yourself look. To deny a person the right to wed someone they really love (and no a celebrity does not count!) is flat inhuman.

Im prepared for all the 'fights'

the fight of certain adults to marry the minor of their choice if they are consenting (or their parents consent) and they 'love' each other

the fight for fans of incest to marry their sibilings if they are consenting and 'love' each other

the fight for one man to marry several wives if they all consent and are 'in love'

the fight for one woman to marry several husbands if they all consent and are 'in love'

and Im sure the pendulum will swing all the way to the point where we will let go of all structure altogether in the name of allowing 'love' to be the ruling factor,,,

it should be interesting,, but I wont be amongst those cheering it on,,,

Bottom line is...
banter all day long isn't going to make any difference.
Gay marriage IS happening and will continue to come about.
None of you can stop it, your old worn out laws will not stop it,
your stuffy conservative christianity isn't going to stop it.

Hate it, be grossed out, complain, and grasp at any logic...
it doan matta!!!

Nothing can stop an idea who's time has come!!

Tables are turning...
strap on your seat belts and get ready for the ride!! drinker

so how is that inequality? they have the same rights as anyone that is not gay, and that is not equal?

Because they'd have to change to be equal, and that's absolute garbage. I can't even believe you're trying to use this argument, you make yourself look very foolish.

ok, since i'm so foolish... i can marry any woman i want, any gay man can marry any woman he wants... i cannot marry another man... niether can a gay man... any woman can marry any guy she wants... so can any gay woman... straight women cannot marry another woman, neither can gay women... so where is this inequality???? it is perfectly equal, you can't get more equal than that

the argument is not about equality in the sense of equality apparently,, its about equality in the sense of 'love'

everyone marrying whom they 'love' ,, with no condition, would be equal

yet I apparently offend when I suggest that siblings should likewise be afforded that 'equality' and minors(with parental consent),,,,

ok, i also want 3 wives... lets change those laws too, while we are at it...

this whole thing is just stupid, there is no law that says you can't love who you want to love... this has never been about love and you know it

As long as gays and lesbians can't marry who they want, this will not end. Either accept them, or be prepared for a fight, because people have had about enough of religious bigotry such as this.

And you know what, love should be. Because if you're marrying for any other reason, what's the point?

why can't they marry like i can?
no one says they can't marry... where did you get that?

The laws that prohibit it in some states maybe?? Come on now.

we arent completely equal, if the law says men can marry women and women can marry men, thats about as fair as it gets if it applies to all men and all women

Grasping again...

if you can go to law school and pass the bar, you can practice law.
Simple enough...

the 'conditions' set for marriage are set by old, white conservative christians...

and those days are numbered for sure

ya'll are in for a very rude awakening

exciting times we live in ..indeed!

I Agree. I think its going to be very exciting to see us go from increasing fatherless homes, to homes with dad one and dad two, mom one and mom two, uncle dad, aunty mom

structure is not important at all, , just 'love'

sigh

And you know this......how? You make big assumptions. The world will not end just cause gays and lesbians can marry, nor will traditional marriages end. God why do you religious people think the world revolves around you and what you believe, no matter who you step over in the process?

who said traditional marriage will end? Im learning from history.

women working didnt stop their from being any 'traditional' homes where someone stays home and the other works,,but it did do alot to contribute to alot less 'structure' in the homes, and it cant be proven to have not impacted the increase of children raising themself and dads feeling less stigma about bailing out so the woman can do it 'on her own'

this will do more to diminish the 'structure' of families and communities, but it wont cause anyting else to become 'extinct', just much less promoted, encouraged, or prevalent

a prediction I make from learning from past trends,,,,

oh hells sake..
you know damn well that love is the only real thing we have in this ****ed up world..

were ALREADY raising kids without dads...
my sister raised 2 daughters with her lesbian lover
both girls are grown up, married to MEN and living full lives

A 'traditional' family where ma and pa fight, cheat, drink,
whatever...
THIS is better for these children?!?
Really, Ms. Harmony, i know you despise the gay movement, but i also know that YOU know better than to make such a generalization
like that.
