why can't they marry like i can?
no one says they can't marry... where did you get that?

The laws that prohibit it in some states maybe?? Come on now.

there is no law that say someone that is gay cannot marry...any gay can get married just like anyone else... the law says it has to be a man and a woman that gets married, not two men or two women...being gay has nothing to do with getting married

Oh give me a damn break! Yeah technically they can marry, but to do that they'd have to go against their own feelings. Thus, this fails, it does not work. How would you like it, if the law said you had to marry someone of the same sex to marry legally?

so how is that inequality? they have the same rights as anyone that is not gay, and that is not equal?

Because they'd have to change to be equal, and that's absolute garbage. I can't even believe you're trying to use this argument, you make yourself look very foolish.

I guess I just wouldnt be getting married, legally. I would find others who felt my 'union' should be ceremonially celebrated and be happy to be married in my heart with my family and friends around.

we arent completely equal, if the law says men can marry women and women can marry men, thats about as fair as it gets if it applies to all men and all women

thats like arguing for the adult attracted to teens that because the law dictates a certain age for marriage that that forces them to 'change' to be 'equal'

No it is not fair. Pay attention here, if they cannot marry whom they want to marry, and instead they have to bow down to what others think defines a marriage before they can legally do it, it is very much unfair.

Oh and don't even try the extreme adult/teen argument, because it's not the same thing as consenting adults. Next.

follow this logic

IF I cant practice law and instead have to bow down to what others believe makes me 'qualified' to practice law before I can legally do it,, it is unfair,,,

not

Because if they're giving one group benefits and not others for no valid reason other than sexual preference, that is discrimination, plain and simple.

Law and sexual preference are not the same thing!! One thing requires a step naturally, the other is just built in to the person.

it is the same thing, and this is why

your debate keeps centering around people being 'happy' and having the equal 'right' to marry whomever they 'love'

so we either are right to put conditions on it or we arent

yet we do have OTHER conditions, like how old that partnering has to be and how closely related that partnering can be,,,,

ok, since i'm so foolish... i can marry any woman i want, any gay man can marry any woman he wants... i cannot marry another man... niether can a gay man... any woman can marry any guy she wants... so can any gay woman... straight women cannot marry another woman, neither can gay women... so where is this inequality???? it is perfectly equal, you can't get more equal than that

Well really, if the two really love each other, age (within reason) and relation even shouldn't matter either.

IM not comparing law and sexual preference,, follow closely

Im comparing practicing law and marrying

both require 'steps', both have conditions attached that are decided by others,,,
