Why isn't it? Gay people are already in the military. Many who serve have no issues with it. Just because you don't want to be near gay people does not mean they should have to lie to be in the military.
nobody lied..dadt...remember?...just means our military is going downhill...no more mighty nation....just the laughing stock of the world now

What does that have to do with the "might" of the nation? America was mighty (by any reasonable standard) before there was an official military, and still will be when the military-industrial complex collapses under its own ineptitude, wasteful spending, and archaic design. (and the sooner the military regime falls, the better for America and the world) True might comes from sound money and a stable economy-which we currently lack. When these are restored and American foreign interventionism/militarism ends, prosperity and greatness will return.

a nation is only as mighty as it's military...without our military we would be either a English, German or Japanese colony right now...

False. The war for independence in the 1780's was not fought by a professional army, but volunteers. (it was a miracle the Americans even won considering that they were outgunned and not nearly as well trained) As far as the Germans and Japanese, neither had the intent or ability to actually invade America. Japan even sued for peace in American courts, but the FedGov wanted to feed the war machine and war profiteers in the banking and armament industries (as well as in Congress and the White House) kept the silly war machine going. This WWII mythology has been proven false by modern historians such as Pat Buchanan, Murry Rothbard, Tom DiLorenzo, etc. To believe that "without our military we would be either a English, German or Japanese colony right now" is probably the greatest myth of 20th century American history.

(it was a miracle the Americans even won considering that they were outgunned and not nearly as well trained. Also, the FedGov at that time stiffed many of the Revolutionary War vets out of their fair pay. Many died poor and lonely.) As far as the Germans and Japanese, neither had the intent or ability to actually invade America. Japan even sued for peace in American courts, but the FedGov wanted to feed the war machine and war profiteers in the banking and armament industries (as well as in Congress and the White House) kept the silly war machine going. On top of that, there would never have been a WWII had not the US regime intervened in WWI. This WWII mythology you are propagating has been proven false by modern historians such as Pat Buchanan, Murry Rothbard, Tom DiLorenzo, etc. (even historians and journalists such as Garet Garett at the time correctly disagreed, but were ignored because the truth didn't fit the populism of the regime) To believe that "without our military we would be either a English, German or Japanese colony right now" is probably the greatest myth of 20th century American history.

well, everyone has a right to their own opinion... i don't think you know how close we came to losing WW2...

We didn't come close to losing WW2. Infact Hitler was furious with Japan for bringing us into it.

you might wanna read up on that don... just for a few samples of pure coincidence, and Hitlers mistakes is the only reason we won... One big one was that none of our aircraft carriers were in Hawaii on DEC. 7... if the Japanese would have have sunk them to, we would have surly lost Hawaii, and maybe half of the west coast. the aircraft carriers are the only reason we won the pacific battles..
and yes, Hitler was mad, he didn't want the US involved till they took over England, as he was way overextended by that and trying to take Russia and Africa at the same time... Hitler just wanted more time to finnish up then he would have got us into it.

1) The reason for the Pearl Harbor retaliation was the fact that for almost a decade prior, the US had been waging economic warfare on Japan. The sanctions and other impositions on Japan were devastating, and considered an act of war to this day. In fact, on December 8, 1941, Herbert Hoover wrote a personal letter to FDR in which he wrote, "You and I know that this continuous putting pins in rattlesnakes finally got this country bitten."

2) It was Churchill's obsession with destroying Germany that caused the escalation of German aggression. His obsession was such that he became oblivious to the potential threat of the Soviet Empire, befriending Stalin (whom he called "Uncle Joe"). Had it not been for this madness in Britain, there would have not been a war in Europe. Hitler was a nationalist and a fascist, but he wasn't interested in war with the US or Britain. This is why Hitler was not prepared or desiring of a war. The Germans were recovering from the not-so-distant post-WWI depression and becoming an industrial power themselves. (Hitler, btw, was instrumental in getting Germany out of their depression. This is one of the reasons why he was enormously popular with the Germans.) Then there's the war pact Churchill made with Poland, which was unnecessary and designed to drag Britain into war.

As Buchanan famously wrote, "if Hitler was out to conquer the world — Britain, Africa, the Middle East, the United States, Canada, South America, India, Asia, Australia — why did he spend three years building that hugely expensive Siegfried Line to protect Germany from France? Why did he start the war with no surface fleet, no troop transports and only 29 oceangoing submarines? How do you conquer the world with a navy that can’t get out of the Baltic Sea?"

The Continental Army was plenty disciplined. You don't beat the Brits by being slacker soldiers. The reason they broke rank was because they weren't paid properly for their service. The politicians at the time (in particular the Hamiltonians and other Mercantilists and war speculators) were happy for war because, like now, it gave them the chance to grow the government and spend and inflate the currency. Then, as now, the soldiers and citizens were screwed over so the regime could get its selfish desires.

The Continental Army of 1775, comprising the initial New England Army, organized by Washington into three divisions, six brigades, and 38 regiments. Major General Philip Schuyler's ten regiments in New York were sent to invade Canada.
The Continental Army of 1776, reorganized after the initial enlistment period of the soldiers in the 1775 army had expired. Washington had submitted recommendations to the Continental Congress almost immediately after he had accepted the position of commander-in-chief, but these took time to consider and implement. Despite attempts to broaden the recruiting base beyond New England, the 1776 army remained skewed toward the Northeast both in terms of its composition and geographical focus. This army consisted of 36 regiments, most standardized to a single battalion of 768 men strong formed into eight companies, with a rank and file strength of 640.
The Continental Army of 1777-80 was a result of several critical reforms and political decisions that came about when it was apparent that the British were sending massive forces to put an end to the American Revolution. The Continental Congress passed the "Eighty-eight Battalion Resolve", ordering each state to contribute one-battalion regiments in proportion to their population, and Washington was subsequently given authority to raise an additional 16 battalions. Also, enlistment terms were extended to three years or "the length of the war" to avoid the year-end crises that depleted forces (including the notable near collapse of the army at the end of 1776 which could have ended the war in a Continental, or American, loss by forfeit).
The Continental Army of 1781-82 saw the greatest crisis on the American side in the war. Congress was bankrupt, making it very difficult to replenish the soldiers whose three-year terms had expired. Popular support for the war was at its all-time low, and Washington had to put down mutinies both in the Pennsylvania Line and New Jersey Line. Congress voted to cut funding for the Army, but Washington managed nevertheless to secure important strategic victories.
The Continental Army of 1783-84, was succeeded by the United States Army, which persists to this day. As peace was closed with the British, most of the regiments were disbanded in an orderly fashion, though several had already been diminished.

In addition to the Continental Army regulars, local militia units, raised and funded by individual colonies/states, participated in battles throughout the war. Sometimes, the militia units operated independently of the Continental Army, but often local militias were called out to support and augment the Continental Army regulars during campaigns. (The militia troops developed a reputation for being prone to premature retreats, a fact that was integrated into the strategy at the Battle of Cowpens.)

You don't know if what is true? That other countries also allow gay people to serve in the military? If you don't believe it, do a little research. I'm sure you will find that the US is certainly not the only country that allows it.

i thought you understood... i don't care enough to do any research about it..to me, it's a bad idea

You certainly care enough to whine about it here.

well, thnx, but i'm done whining now... now you can go party with gays and join the service, i know your happy

It"ll be okay.

I doubt many gays will sign up for a Combat MOS.

Less than 5% of our entire Military is 11B (Infantry).

Most of the Military are in a support role. In the Infantry we called them rear echelon units.
We also realized how important their role is to the success of the Combat units mission.

I know of a couple who are Special Forces. I know of a ton who are in Infantry.

LOL

I'll bet none of them will blatantly let it be know in their unit.

Why not? Men who aren't homophobic wouldn't have a problem dealing with them.

Homophobic isn't even a real phobia. It's a made up word to try and shame people to accept queers.

Infantry soldiers are ruthless. Peer pressure is an acceptable method used by the military to train discipline in combat troops.

We had a man get caught jacking off in the showers once. 40 some guys beat the chit out of him, the whole time calling him queer.
After medical treatment he never returned to our unit.

The Army didn't do that to him. We did.

one of the best statements i've seen on here yet...just another way for them to try to turn straight people gay...

So that's what bothers you? You think they're trying to turn you gay? whoa slaphead
