Yeah, I don't think it makes them look to good either. when I see seperated, I see still married, so I pass them just as I would someone who is married. |

I always say finish up the OLD relationship before you try to start up a new one!! BUT there are a lot of people that disagree with that...I won't date someone that is seperated, NO DRAMA FOR ME!!!

I've been separated for almost 8 months... my ex to be and I are living a totally separate lives... we're in court for custody... but other than that, there is no connection.... I know from my side there is no turning back.... I don't even like being around her... although legall we're not, but as far as I am concern we're over.
I’ve wasted years being unhappy trying to make this marriage work just because of my kids, so now that we are where we are, I don't see a reason why I should wait until I am divorced.... I deserve to live my life and find someone who i can be happy with. |

no.....i wont get involved with someone that has "separated"
on their profile......that still means MARRIED....not goin there!!! Just as the ones that have "no answer"....that most generally means they're also married...... I mean, IF they WEREN'T married, they'd state so on their profile!!!!! simple! Not into PLAYAS!!! |

'Separated' means that one day you'll be a-needin' to 'retain independent counsel' 'cuz YOUR name has just been listed as a 'CO-RESPONDENT' in someone's nasty little divorce battle. And no, that's NOT the same as 'correspondent'. If they can't have the decency to end the marriage before they go a-lookin' for some fresh nookie, how can they expect anyone else to ever trust 'em in a new relationship? Nope - I want it all over and done with: Separate residences, separate bank accounts, separate power and light bills, etc etc etc ... There's enough trouble out in DatingWorldLand without the added complication of a jealous spouse lookin' for a way to get an edge in a divorce battle.

What's your take on those who are separated looking to find luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuv on here? I mean comeon. Could ya finish ONE thing before starting another? GEESH. i was separated when i started dating again. all ya'll can kiss my arse if you don't like it. i think providing that you are open and honest about your situation, it's up to the person who is interested in you to make a decision about your sincerity - not some people on a dating site who mean nothing to me. |

I’ve wasted years being unhappy trying to make this marriage work just because of my kids, so now that we are where we are, I don't see a reason why I should wait until I am divorced.... I deserve to live my life and find someone who i can be happy with. The 'reason' you lost sight of is the role modeling you provide your kids. Just like you were hoping to show them to work on a marriage when you hit the bumps, you can continue to role model honorable behavior. You can work on yourself as an individual while you are finalising a divorce and show your kids that this is how you show respect to them, yourself, your ex, and even your potential new someone. I absolutely do, my ex to be and I are very civilized, and we're just letting attorneys do their work. I made it clear to her that there is no getting back... and I made it clear to my kids that we can be divorced without hating each other.I wish her happiness, but we just cannot be happy together. I didn't lie to you folks, although I could've said single or divorced, but I choose the truth.... if a woman is not comfortable being involved with a separated man, I wouldn't want her to be involved with me. |

Yeah, tough call. I dated before the final decree, but the marriage had been over for years, I'd purchased my own home and was living on my own. I didn't realize the problems one can encounter when dating a person who is not yet divorced until I dated someone who was going through a difficult divorce (though separated for over 3 years!). It wasn't that it was a threatening situation for me. It was that his focus was elsewhere, his energy was going toward trying to end the marriage, and all conversations reverted to his difficulties. Just didn't feel as if there was much left of him to offer me, ya know?

I wouldn't date someone who is seperated because i don't want to deal with his divorce, i already dealt with my own about 5 years ago. But i do have to say that while you're going through a divorce it's nice to have someone to talk to, so maybe they are on here just for friends, or they are jut ready to move on because it can be lonely at first.
