Topic: Employed or No? | |

for my random "chime in", I am employed. i made some unwise moves out of state, and when i finally came back home, the economy was at it's worst. i picked up a security guard job to pay the bills (and that's all it payed LOL). i had been working it since october last year and finally this month I landed an awesome job making more money than i ever thought i could make. Gotta love Louisiana LOL. It is possible still to this day for the poor man to get rich by legitimate means. and i use the term rich loosely.....its not a million dollar job, but i aint got s*** to worry about except stayin on my "A" game.
to anyone who is not employed and still looking, keep your head up and keep trying. dreams are still possible with a little elbow grease and honesty |

I produced a monthly 'gig' and booked high profile speakers and music artists for the 'shows' .. everyone I knew wanted my job. LOL But yanno .. I truly believe there is something even more awesome out there now for me and I appreciate your pep talk to all here .. |

Now it would have been different if I wasn't pulling the UI benefits, but heck, I've worked all my life raising my children .. I felt totally fine about enjoying a little R&R .. I've paid into the system more than most. Now? I gotta get my butt out there and DO this thing |

Amen to that girlfriend!
It's funny I just ran into yet another friend who's been out of work for 13 mos. We used to get together and spend spend spend all the time. LOL So I said "Let's do lunch" to catch up and she said she'd love to but can't afford it anymore .. LMAO. It's a sad state of affairs when girls can't get together for drinks/salads. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek |

I'm retired with a good pension thanks to my late husband so I don't have any worries now... But my son in law has been out of work 18 mo so I understand what you all are going thru.. They have one son that just graduated college and another son just graduating hs.. It has really been rough for them and I help them as much as possible. I hope the economy picks up soon for everyone sake...

Nice about the pension Silver!!
And as to helping .. I find God has allowed me to help others even more thru out this experience. I believe America has gotten back her "community" mentality yanno? |

I'm just wondering, with in a pretty diverse group of people such as we have here on Mingle .. How many are out of work right now? I was laid off 18 mos ago and have yet to find a good fit in the corporate world I am used to. What about you? I was laid off about a year or two ago for a few months, but got called back, now it looks like I'm stuck here forever. The place I work for is always hiring. |

I don't know. It'd be a long drive though.
It's printed circuit board manufacturing. We do a lot of work for the government, oil companies, areospace, etc. Pretty much anyone willing to a lot of money. |
