Well I have just made 14 months on unemployment. Believe me you learn real quick to budget what you get in order to pay bills ect.... For sure when I go back to work I will have a total different outlook on how I spend my money.... Be glad you have the benefits! I did sub contracting... I had to live on my savings... Even with the taxes I paid, no benifits. Ohhh believe me I'm glad that I had the opportunity to draw unemployment had worked for the same company for 12 years and hardly ever missed a day till he decided to shut the doors.....First time in my life I have ever gotten unemployment without it I would have been lost...with it I do survive..... and able to live on it as well.. |

As so many of you said, you are blessed to still be working, even if the cuts were made at the time.
Joy that's a real blessing to only hold bonuses and raises. Delilady .. I heard that about another company holding out for each other .. it was more important to save everyone's job. I KNOW this hit the American people hard, but I can't help to think it was good for us. Most are no longer living above their means and a sense of community has been restored |

I don’t really fit this, but …close
Three years ago I had to shut down both of my companies due to a crooked partner and a slowing economy. In the time since it has been very hard to find sustainable business, the last two houses I built netted little profit because of the failing housing market….which is why it took 14 months to sell either one of them. (That’s a lot of interest btw) If you think taking a 50% cut is difficult, try having a negative cash flow for 32 consecutive months. Times are still hard for many people, much more so than the news and/or the government report. |

Heck, that's just the people, like me, who actually FILE and COLLECT UI bennies. A boatload don't. |

So true Judy I must say myself even though I have been without work it has made me look life a bit different. I've learned to appreciate what I have more then before as well as I have gotten to spend a lot more time with my granddaughter Therefore it has been all worth while in the end...

My kids are really used to cutting back now, but my youngest son often says he can't wait for me to get a job cuz we'll 'be bankin' ..
In fact a few times he has asked me .. "Mom you ARE going to GET a job, right?" I say .. "what's it to you????? You're not starving" I have a positive attitude and totally believe I will find an awesome job. I DO live in my Happy Place .. |
