Again, not exactly what I'd call brave And once again i agee with you!
A man who comes home drunk covered in lipstick and reeking of perfume, then slaps his wife on the ass and says, "You're next, fatty!" |

Ignoring fear and pain, while taking care of business.

christiaan otter bailey defines brave in my mind right now.....google him and see if you don't agree.
he took my son surfing and skating last fall. that he does what he does and still makes time to be kind to a strangers' kid speaks volumes. |

What does it mean to you? Has any one specific event given you the meaning you believe or is it a mix of things? I have saved some lives and that let me know I was capable of acting out what I had only THOUGHT I could really do, Before actually doing it. With me the BRAVE,,,is bull****,,,its the COMPASSION for another life that MOVES YOU! |

Lighting a small flame and fearlessly walking into that darkness.
Persevering, even though for all intents and purposes, everything seems stacked against you or a successful resolution. Doing something you believe in and feel strongly about even when you know there are no guarantees and you are very, very afraid to do it. |

Sleeping with your girls sister I'd call that a total dumb ass ... hopefully you don't have to take that personally |

What does it mean to you? Has any one specific event given you the meaning you believe or is it a mix of things? It is quite the mix of things, for certain! However, I think my father puts it best...to this day: "It's okay to be afraid, just do it anyways"..."nothing courageous happens devoid of fear". |

For me...it was turning my back and walking away from a real and true love because I wanted her to have the opportunity for a better life. Would have been easy to have been selfish and hold her back.....
It all worked out though.....after almost 20 years...she tracked me down to thank me...then asked me to be with her now that she had a chance to experience life and know knows what is truly important. Being brave sucks...but occasionally it does pay off. |

bravery..
the mother who looks around her house and sees the stack of bills, the small amount of food, and the lack of hope that she is left with after her husband has walked out.. puts on a smile and turns to her kids and eases their fears.. while putting aside her own. the solder who goes into battle with the knowledge that he may never make it home, but also the knowledge that he is fighting a much larger battle.. the cancer patient who has been given a terminal diagnosis, and volunteers at the homeless shelter... the woman who after years of brain washing and abuse.. FINALY manages to gain the courage to walk away.. and never go back.. the rape victom who stands up in court to say put the man who violated her behind bars.. bravery is so many things.. but essentialy it is.. putting aside your own fears.. to ease the fears of others.. and to do what is right.. |
