I think people don't take it down quickly b/c they spent too much time putting it up. Then they are too lazy to take it down soon after Christmas.

i always took mine down the weekend after christmas... was nice to have the space back..

I put my tree up on the 15th and I take it down on the 27th always have. I do leave the outside lights on till after the Russian Orthadox Christmas. Since there are so many on my island, and the russian influence is very strong here so out of respect I leave them up till around the 20th of January.

I wait to take mine down the weekend after new years...we enjoy the decorations for new years eve.

I don't think it is so much of a jinx but was more of less as a tradition to leave the tree up till after New Years. Kinda like a celebration as you see the old year go out and the New Year begin.

I leave mine up year round.......its great fun to see my neices and nephews askin their folks "why dont we get an Easter tree??"
