Topic: Separation of Church and State?

If only our politicians and citizens really understood the way our constitution was designed..great posting. Here's my problem I do. How many people think there is a separation of church and state and believe it to be law. I did a poll on here and I would say %80. That's why I argue it. To help people understand there is not. There should be if %80 of people thinks there is and agrees that their should be. I dont bash Christians. I am one my self. I believe in the bible ( dont agree with certain interpretations of it) and believe in god. Because I argue points that might be against what Christianity's means to you doesn't mean I do not believe in god. That's what great about this nation. You have the right to believe in any religion you seen apropreate to you.. a poll on here ?... ...I can can count one one hand the number of conservatives that post on this board...and...when they do...they are run out of town... The problem is when they are questioned it turn into you are infringing on their rights. They have no problem using their beleifs to infringe on others! see here's where we disagree...I couldn't care less...how...who...what...where ...you believe or don't believe...only what I believe matters in MY world...now having said that...whenever a conservative injects their point of view...Liberals say " that we are trying to force our beliefs down their throats "...WRONG !...i'm just stating MY point of view and opinion...like I said...I don't care what anyone else does...but...it ain't happening in my world...ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh...for the 50's... Ohhhhh for the 50's.....Black and whites drinking at separate drinking fountains. Riots. Racism. Sexism. Many homes didn't have air conditioning. I could write pages about what was wrong with the 50's. I could write pages about what was wrong with the 50's....in your world...not in mine...for every negative you list...I can find 10 positives... The 50s are over and long past. If you live in the past the future will just pass you by. Things change, people change!!!! You are not going to stop it.

I have no problem understanding the allure that the 1950s might hold for a modern day Right Wing Conservative Christian. Another member already pointed out some of the reasons so I see no need to repeat.

I just understand how we all hang on to the past..I am far from being a right winged anything just as Im far from being a looney lib or what ever the name of the day is.. That laughter you here is everyone that knows me on this site. Hey I just havin fun now no disrespect intended...Gio and I dont agree on a whole lot but I consider him a friend and we try to have some fun on here...

i wonder if one was not a white male if the 50s would seem so alluring i have seen a few points along my thoughts used here yes the known past nearly always seems better than a changing future that is why so many in relationships with abuse remain in them

i wonder if one was not a white male if the 50s would seem so alluring i have seen a few points along my thoughts used here yes the known past nearly always seems better than a changing future that is why so many in relationships with abuse remain in them The 50s were good for some and bad for others. The same applies to today. Im sure our kids will be saying the same thing when they are all grown up. To me the best years were from 1969 to 1976. Those years hold the best memories for me but Im sure were bad times for others. Hey friend I though you were heading south..

yep south will probably get record cold when i get there it seems like this is coldest it has been here for this time period in 20 years lol i am not waiting this long next year i hope

For some reason you were assuming my comment was directed at you and it would only apply to you if you would define yourself as a conservative, right wing Christian and in that case, then my comment that conservative right wing Christians would be much more pleased if we could revert to the "jolly old segregated 50s" is appropriate.

I was not even alive then. The 60s were another story. Vietnam. It was a time of change and the Liberals were fighting back. It was an era fraught with turmoil.
