140 to 160? Wow, you do have ridiculous standards. What's your IQ? Where did you get tested? My comments lose something if you're not aware of the long-term, underlying context. Which is OK. And if wanting someone with a functioning brain is a "ridiculous standard," then I plead guilty as charged. |

I'm a government tested 135. So, I kind of understand what the numbers mean. 130 - Gifted 140 - Genius 160 is practically unattainable. Well, unless you're from a country other than the USA. They use different standards. |

No, I just mean that 140-160 is very, very, high. Far higher than "functioning". I'm a government tested 135. So, I kind of understand what the numbers mean. 130 - Gifted 140 - Genius 160 is practically unattainable. Well, unless you're from a country other than the USA. They use different standards. I consistently test between 135-160. Except when I was in third grade -- I tested a bit higher. I subsequently was told that the testing isn't quite as accurate with smaller kids. I don't think it really means anything anyway -- not in practical terms. Not that I necessarily think the tests are "biased" or inherently flawed in some way -- just that they provide ONE standard for measuring intelligence; and I am sure there are potentially others, maybe not even devised yet, which could be equally, if not more, valid. |
