No they are not in the military themselves. And to prove this point look at this little known fact. the President holds two offices by technicality: Commander-in-chief (which yes is the commander of the armed forces, but it is ONLY during peace time, and certain times of war or actions) and also commander-of-homeland (lack of better term), where they are in command of all our homeland issues, such as medical, finances, etc. In the military, the highest ranking officer for the army is a four star general, normally. However in war time- the commander in chief is authorized, and capable of appointing a fifth star to the highest ranking four star general, thus making him the highest rank. This fifth star general then takes over the office of commander in chief (yes, he takes over the position of commander in chief), in specific regards to the war and everything to do with the conflict. The President has this authority specifically because he (or she) is unable to fully perform his job properly if he has to figure out tactics and such, while still looking at the civil side of the country. It is also there for those who have less experience, or none in the military. And for all of you who argue that our president should have been int he military, look back inhistory and see howmany really ever were inthe military to begin with. I dont know the numbers but I will bet they are larger than you could imagine. And most of them were not in major leadership positions while they WERE in service either. I was waiting for someone to say that. BUT YES HE IS. The president hold the HIGHEST MILITARY POSTION OF THE LAND. There for YES it is my business I guess that's one way of looking at it. But, technically speaking he isn't in the military, he's as much of a private citizen as anyone else. However, don't I recall (sorry, too lazy to go back and reread) you saying you weren't in the military? Therefore, if I'm correct, again, I fail to see where it's any of your business. I'm I'm mistaken, I apologize. |

Well, this morning I heard he got up had breakfast with his kids, went to the gym and started receiving security briefings. Sounds like a logical start to me. He made a campaign pledge to review the signing statements of Shrub and that appears to be happening. Addressing those issues is a biggie. It is complex and touches many areas of legislation. I am sure at least some of them will be addressed and plans to properly deal with them will be in place by January. So maybe early on we will hear some specifics regarding them. I am keenly interested in his cabinet appointments. I've heard many names floated but not from the Obama people. Who ever he goes for especially in the areas of defense, security and finance they will have a lot of work ahead of them. Sounds like Gates will stay on at defense for at least awhile. That's also a good start I think to make for a safer transition. While I hope it doesn't happen early on during the next four years there may be some vacancies on the SCOTUS. Who he looks to in terms of appointees will be very interesting. Even very conservative members at Harvard law say Obama has a very keen understanding of the Constitution and the judiciary. This is an area that has always been interesting to me and I am sure it will continue to be with Obama in office. As I said in another post one man cannot right the ship of state, nor can he do it with just the officers. He needs all hands. Ladies and gentleman we all crew this ship. So, I suggest we begin to work together and give up the politics of division. If not we all lose. These times require us to unite. I told you so won't mean much if we are destroyed by our own unwillingness to work for each other. I, too, am interested in who his cabinet appointments will be. I even heard on the news this morning that he's considering *gasp* republicans and independents as part of his cabinet. Seems to me that, if this is true, that he really does want to end partisan politics and have a government that is truly representative of everyone. Of course, it was on the news and may not be accurate. Would be a nice change of pace, however. And I agree with the balance of your post and have said similar things in other threads this morning. The time has come for finger-pointing, name-calling and blame to end. We are all to blame for this mess, by allowing our politicians to do what they have done, regardless of political party. And only by everyone working together can we overcome this. This is not a matter of our differences, but in finding some commonality of humanness. And I'd be willing to bet (if I could afford it), regardless of political party persuasion, we all pretty much want the same things in the end. ![]() |

YOU KNOW, YOU GO OUT AND VOTED FOR OBAMA, THEN THE FIRST THING YOU DO IS SAY THAT HE'LL HAVE SEX THE FIRST THING HE DOSE. AT LEAST I'M NOT GOING TO VOTE FOR SOMEONE THEN PUT HIM DOWN. SPOKEN LIKE A TRUE DEMOCRATE Actually, I am going to re-engage for a moment. The question was what do you think will be first thing he does? A rhetorical question, open to many interpretations. My response was meant to be a joke. You were the only one who actually took me seriously. And, since you don't know me, you don't know what my political affiliation is, if I even have one, nor do you know if or for whom I voted. However, all kidding aside, if it were me being president, damn straight I'd have sex in the Oval office ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Humm mysteriousMAN angry, dressed up like a soldier and still angry about Bill getting some head? Maybe you should consider getting some too. It might help you relax a little. Maybe feel a little less angry? ![]() ![]() ![]() hey how about we give that horse you ride on a break - you speak in generalized tones, condensending tones at best, think maybe you're higher and mightier than the rest - you'd really learn about others if you listened and heard what was said not thought you knew what was meant. If you're in the military, Obama will be your Commander in Chief - end of story. If you're not in the military - Obama will be The President of the United States - end of story. Guess either help come up with a solution or sit back and complain. But enough of this passing blame and finger pointing, sweet molasses, we will all pay for this. |

Yes, all caps is considered yelling.
It does not make your posts very readable. It's inconsiderate to those posters who do want to read what you say. It doesn't make you look very smart just angry and childish. If you want to make a point then please state your point and support it with facts. Heck you could even let us know you feel strongly if you wish. So in my best mom voice I will ask you to please use your polite grown-up inside voice. |

ok, someone needs their nap time, obviously. Iam not saying money is not made by spending it. however, the money "my boss" makes doe snot do a damn thing for the country, if no taxes are paid. It's taxes that pay for our roads to be maintained; it's taxes that pay for our children to have an education through highschool. It is my taxes and my bosses taxes, and my brothers taxes, etc etc etc that pay your base pay, along with your combat pay, seperation pay, housing allowance (assuming you have dependants here, I am sorry if you dont). W also pay your cost of living allowance if you are stationed somewhere where it is deemed to be a higher cost of living that you get paid normally (like Germany). So let's see, we stop paying our taxes, so that we have more money in our pockets to buy things with. That leaves you and your family with nothing, it leaves us with no roads to speak of, it make sour education system even worse than it already is. Do I need to continue? I am not saying all taxes need to be raises, and I am sure some could be lowered. The number one hting though is we need to ge the country on a damn get, and work within that budget. We need to look at what we have available, increase/decrease as neccesary, and then prioritize what is actually important and what isn't. In my mind it would not hurt to lower some of the government employees wages. The overglorified seceratary that takes home over 20 dollars an hour for example, simply because she takes notes for the mayor, instead of for a lawyer. Both are secerataries, both should be paid approximately the same wage. These are, obviously just examples, there are a hell of a lot more things taxes go for, and a lot that they should not go for. But saying no to taxes is only going to cut our own throat in the end. The first thing he will do is RAISE TAXES ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Some taxes probably NEED to be raised. how do you think the country is going to be ran and cared for if we do not provide the money needed to do so? Do not pay anything for you? Police officers, firefighters, city street workers, highway workers, street cleaners, parks, street lights, teachers, and more. |

ha ha When I read this,"NOT FORM YOU,I DO BEAUTIFUL WOMEN. THATS WAY I HAVE BOTH OF MY ARMS." for a brief second I considered reporting you. Just because I could.
I decided a better course of action was to reply to you directly. Let's be very clear here. I wasn't offering to help with that. I'd be bored and you'd be confused. Serious, if you are going to insult someone and insist on caps at least spell it right? Actually, if you'd like to try again below you will find a corrected version. Feel free to copy and paste it! Not from you! I do beautiful women. That's why I have both of my arms!" |
