whom should they guy have helped then?? the waitress...cause she is working and trying to support herself?? or should he have helped the homeless guy? becasue who knows when he will eat again?? If he only had enough money to do one of the two, and he wanted to help the homeless guy, he should have eaten at home. Tipping is part of eating out in the United States. It's not legally mandatory, but I think it should be ethically mandatory. The waiter would have to do more than lousy service (i.e. slow bringing food, etc.) for me to withhold any tip at all. Anyway, this isn't a situation where the service is lousy. It's just the customer being an asshole. |

The diner obviously punished the waiter for his political views and is not a working class person because as one of the working class I would have tipped the waiter regardless of his tie and slipped the homeless guy money also. The diner in this scenario is obviously a pompous ass who should eat at home. so you only got 5 bucks for a tip..u would divide it between the waiter and the homeless guy?? Why not? you are devaluing the waiters dollar then winx. he woulda got 5 bucks...but because your kind soul ran into a hoimeless guy....he only gets half. how is that fair to the waiter???? |

The point is not how much the waiter makes. It is the waiter worked harder than the person on the street. Why the hell should that guy be able to tell the waiter where his money goes. Yeah, but when you're talking about the rich getting taxed more than the middle and lower class, it isn't a comparison between People Who Work and People Who Don't Work. Middle and lower class people do work long and hard, often difficult physical jobs where they are horribly underpaid, often two jobs. Rich people don't have more money because they work harder, only because they do a different kind of work that is more valued in this society, even if they wouldn't be able to do their work without all of the lower paid people doing the less valued work. once again...wow !!! ohhhhhhhhhh....so that's what's been going on....tell me more...I'm taking notes... okay...got it...tell me more...you're givin' me gold here... damn !!...I never knew any of this...and I thought they said you couldn't teach an old dog new tricks...tell me more... is class dismissed for today ?...aw shucks... |

Does any waiter make more than a quarter million a year? Take from one, give to another... Societies have fallen from concepts as these... |

you know what else takes away from the american dream? corpses in hospital waiting rooms... people who cant afford a decent education who have to remain stagnant and have no hope of social mobility... people who turn to crime because they feel that they're government does not care about them... people who work hard trying to make ends meet only to be told that because they're not rich they are not part of the american dream and are lazy. |
