Talk about welfare here we go they are going to bail out GM and Chrysler with 5 billion dollars so they can merge. Its seems to be the pattern to bail out everyone who got us into this mess and the only ones who will pay the price are the taxpayers. You had all the (used to be) big three exporting factories instead of cars gutting the middle class and those small companeis that serve them. Now when it has come home to roost they get bailed out with tax money from Mccdonalds workers and wall mart workers. Hey how about a little outrage over that? lets all get red in the face about food stamps or medicare , programs that actualy help people, but ignore the biggest parasites

I might have told you this already. St. Louis just shut down a car plant. 2,000 people lost their jobs. They might need help, huh?

This is after we paid for the plant to be equipped for smaller cars instead of SUV's. The plant didn't pay for that. We did to keep the jobs. That's a bail-out gone wrong.

I totally agree. Im now where near weathy and the middle class people do work hard if not harder than the rich but i do not think the government should be talking money from the wealthy and giving it to less weathy people. That totally takes away from the american dream.

He will tax people making over $250,000 a tax of 3% of what they made over $250,000. That will be about 5% of the population.

He will give tax cuts to the 95% of the people working that make under $250,000.
\\

** WRONG! There is no 95% .. 30% of people right now are NOT paying taxes. If Obama is is prez he is going to take give that 30% a welfare check every april. How would you like to take your money and give it to someone that is not paying taxes? The small business owners are going to get penalized. If they have to pay more money to spread then who is going to create the jobs? not the middle, low class. Nope. The majority of the jobs created will be government. More government programs and that is going to cost billions. I think it is every individual who needs to be held accountable for what they make. If you are happy at McDonalds, stay there, If you are a person who has goals and dreams and want to better yourself, go for it! I do not agree w/anyone, and I mean anyone to tell me or a person making more money than me that i have to pay more taxes to support the guy from mcdonalds or wherever that is wrong! Who the hell are you ?? I decide where my money goes! The state and federal take enough damn taxes as it is. I am so sick of the congress spending taxpayers money on bullsh&t programs. Cut the fat and then use that money to create jobs. I am so sick of people saying that the wealthy should spread the wealth. they do not owe you shyt .. you need to get off you azz and create your own wealth. stop *****ing about other people take control of your own future and don't depend on the government or the wealthier people. The wealthy doesn't owe you crap! I make $60,000 and i am ok w/that .. If I want more then Its up to ME to get it. If Obama is prez I bet everyone will not stride to better themselves ..y should they .. they will get handouts. What lazy people we have today in our country ..

Wow, well don't hold any of that hatred back okay?

Republican or conservative philosophy of the poor are poor by their own dam faults is not reality. It allows them to feel superior at some level than the poor or poorer than themselves but it is not even close to reality.

The tax breaks are for working folks. Let me say that again in case you missed it, the tax breaks are for WORKING FOLKS. Working folks getting a tax break in no way looks, tastes or feels like "welfare".

If we want to talk about welfare lets talk about the republican welfare out of the Bush administration. He gave handouts to most Americans and then gave corporate welfare not once but twice, with his tax cuts and the bail out. Liberal republicans, you can't beat em with a stick. They love to hand it out. laugh

You say it so well.flowerforyou

omg...Im talking about all the programs that we have currently. disability, government assistance for schooling, food stamps, WICC, medicaid...

i really love it how if you dont support in INCREASING the funding in these programs...its like you dont care about helping anyone.

my point of view, i see these programs working EVERYDAY. what more is it we need to do????

tell ya what....
put more money into education????

sure, but there are programs and oppurtunities available ALREADY. if a person finds it to stressful and too much work to follow through with any of these programs....they are not gonna cut it in college anyhow.

a helping hand..........its already there for MANY....but it must be reached for

Oh, those programs. I was wondering if I missed a new one.

Disability isn't a freebie. People paid the taxes for it while they were working.

My mom used to work for the company that gave WICC out in our city. It helped the children so much. They thrived. They even have lactation consultants and nutritionists.

I really believe that there are more people needing these programs now than ever. By helping the children, hopefully they will become better adults than if we hadn't helped.

three types of diability....federal, state, and from your insurance carrier.

and i think WICC is an excellent program.

but i think enough is enough....no more federal funded programs

I know of Social Security disability but I don't know about state and insurance carrier off the top of my head.

Most states have SSI but you can't get it and Social Security

and there are tons of agency's that are just dying to qualify you for money

Ohhh...I thought SSI was federal. I don't know about tons. I know WIC, heat grant, electric grants.

My mom knows of all of the resources. Her work gives the info. out. Haha. I keep forgetting she just retired (70 y/o).

I know that the State here - Family Services - gives $80/week to those on disability. That's soooo much.

Our Governor cut back Medicaid and Food Stamps eligibility income to $400 a month. If you make over $400/mth. you can't get help. Funny thing, if you make over $400/mth., you're homeless. If you're homeless, you don't have an address to file with. It's really hurt people on disability. We can't wait to see him go.

SSDI and SSI are the two programs offered for disability from the Social Security Administration. A person can be eligible for both but most fall into one or the other catagory. SSDI is the money you get for your work quarters and how much you paid in. SSI is the "welfare" of social security. If you have never worked or you worked to little to get good work quarters you recieve SSI. Maximum SSI is 540.00 dollars per month. SSDI depends on how much you paid in but the highest I have heard from this program is 1400.00 dollars or so.

McCain wants to fund his tax cuts with Medicare funds. DOES HE EVEN REALIZE HOW LITTLE MEDICARE COVERS FOR FOLKS???!! He is such an idiot when it comes to normal folk stuff.noway huh slaphead

it is also amazing that people care so much about our HOMELESS AND POOR

but not about others.

tell ya what...not so many americans are starving..and let me also say that an ER doc doesnt judge a person by the money they have when treating EMERGENT conditions.

they walk through those doors...we are LIABLE.

some people in this WORLD dont even have THAT MUCH

THANK YOU!!!

Hospitals cannot turn away patients in need of treatment. They are liable... Thank you for thatflowerforyou

Healthcare and education is a concern....Yes... But people don't think about the immediate dangers, or the causes of people not being able to pay for this. As our dollar diminishes in value, so does our (the people's) ability to pay for such things. So, instead of throwing more money at the problem, to take the responsibility away from the people, why don't we look at the cause?

Today our dollar is worth 4 cents compared to the dollar back in 1913 (when the federal reserve was born). Why is our dollar hurting?

Well look at the big picture, the more money the government prints, or comes up with, the less our dollar is worth.

In 1971 congress said it was ok, to no longer back our dollar by gold...

In the last ten years or so, the cost of oil has risen 350% in american dollars, 200% in Euros, and in gold, it has stayed virtually the same.

Meaning: if congress hadn't voted this act in 1971, than gas would only cost a little over a dollar a gallon or so, maybe less. I bet people could afford better insurance if they saved $350
a month on gasoline, and $500 dollars a month in heating oil...dont you? Especially since the cost of medicine would decrease by a couple hundred percent as well.

Hmm... That would mean even MORE money saved...

Money that can be spent on education....

Hey you know what that means... that means we wont need government healthcare coverage... That means... Mommy and Daddy can spend a little more on education for little Jonny... And BTW, many of our books, and resources are international. Those costs would be lowered, and you lower the cost of education... The more education, the more businesses get started. Then more jobs open up.

And then all you have to do is make it appealing for businesses to come back over here. Even if we have to bribe them a bit to get them started...

So, common sense states that we can bring our troops home, cut back on government control, bring back the economy, solve the urgency for healthcare, and give people jobs all at once...?

Wonder why Obama and McCain didn;t think of this...

I wonder why congress didn't think of this...

I wish they would listen to my e-mail and call me before making any more decisions....

by the time Obama is inaugerated the Iraqi troops will already be on their way home. Iraq is basically over and the drawdown is already started

the question is how will he handle a nuclear Israel hating Iran

or will he go to war against Russia to protect Poland when they install their anti missile shield

MY above policies, just a simple few, would solve all our problems.

Decrease government spending, reback the dollar, cut programs and departments, focus on our deficit, bring all troops home under a new foreign policy of nonintervention. The only thing i would do to top it all off is focus on civil liberties. Patriot Act = GONE, Terrorist Act = GONE Withdraw from the U.N. and NATO and reverse any act already signed with them (like the ones giving them the right to come on our soil and override our constitution.)

Under these policies, in about ten years, life will be good...

the question is how will he handle a nuclear Israel hating Iran

or will he go to war against Russia to protect Poland when they install their anti missile shield

Yes, the troops will be on their way home. He introduced the legislation before that was announced.

Yes, those are big questions for the next President. And throw Afghanistan in there too. Heavy sigh.

it is also amazing that people care so much about our HOMELESS AND POOR

but not about others.

tell ya what...not so many americans are starving..and let me also say that an ER doc doesnt judge a person by the money they have when treating EMERGENT conditions.

they walk through those doors...we are LIABLE.

some people in this WORLD dont even have THAT MUCH

Education is desperately in need of monies. Some schools in my area don't have enough books for the students.

You say that Obama doesn't think of it? He wants to gradually bring the troups home. He has a plan for bringing back the economy. He has a plan for the uninsured working people. He has plans for education and teachers. He wants companies to come back to the U.S.

Yes, i do say Obama doesn't think of that. He has never mentioned any concentration on the value of our dollar. He does not have any policies in mention about brining troops home. He is missing the point. He wants to throw money at everything to solve it. I stated earlier, that is our problem... Obama wants to add to our problems under the false pretense of "helping us". If you can tell me how is foreign policy, or his economic policy will involve cuts in government spending i am all ears...

Obama introduced legislation to responsibly end the war in Iraq with a phased withdrawal of troops.

I agree with his economic policy.

How do you agree with his economic policy?

And yes, phased withdrawl of troops, that already started according to certain sources. That is good. But they are not coming home....

I've been through it many times on here about how I agree. It's tiresome.

And the announced phase withdrawal was announced after he introduced the legislation to so.

hopefully they are going to Afghanistan. but still Iraq is yesterdays news

They are. He wants to reinforce Afganistan with more troops. Partially to go after high priority targets in Pakistan.

Also, he mentions wanting to give more military and civilian aid to third world African countries.

Meaning, MORE involvment that Bush gave. This includes Sudan, which you know and i know, is another SH!T hole... All the above combined = a foreign policy that will not bring any troops home. And he will not be saving money spent on Bush's foreign policy.

Yes, hopefully. Al-Qaeda has been growing there since we have been in Iraq.
