Perhaps the answer to her original question as to how that type of behavior can be justified, lies within herself.

What do you think is the reason why a person would be afraid the have a black president. I have been doing calls for Obama for some time now and I have actually had some people tell me that they would never vote for a black man. I guess they don't think I am black or perhaps they don't care. I just don't see how anyone can justify this.

Ok already! I am "that guy"! I just can't do it!shades

If he would undergo some treatment similar to Michael Jackson, I might reconsider.shockedscared

On a more serious note, Would you rather them them lie to you? Honesty has to count for something. One can't fix a problem, if they don't first acknowledge that they have a problem. In order to have this problem, one must participate in several acts just as this before they can see some kind of pattern which might lead them to believe they actually have a problem. Then and only then when they acknowledge that in fact, a problem does exist, can they proceed to try and correct it. It's all a part of a healing process. Surely Obama can sacrifice a few votes for the greater good of helping fellow Americans recover form the illnesses some of them suffer from. A small price to pay for a far greater reward than being President.

Next Question.
Well, Thomas I hope you do go seek treatment for your racism, so sad that someone so young has this disgusting, disgraceful, and disfiguring disease. for your are truly an ugly man. So you will have to bow down to the Black man, Amon

Thank your for you kind words!

There was a bit of sarcasm in there, but I guess you just read to Michael.

Is this not the way racism stays alive? Once a comment is made, something far uglier is thrown back at you. Ugly man I am not, for know nothing about the kind of person I truly am. Whatever happen to love thy neighbor? Forgive us of our trespasses, AS we forgive those who trespass against us? Two wrongs will never make a right.

Best wishes to you in your journey!flowerforyou

Thomas
Have you ever heard of though love? No I will not coddle you or pat you on the back for admiting you are a racist. Sorry.

Honestly, I'm not voting for Obama because he policies, even if he can pull them off isn't logical. He has a very small voting record, most of the time just stating "present", so he doesn't offend anybody. He also ran in Illinois based on "tax cuts" which he has yet to follow through with.

Most of what he is blowing is sunshine, empty promises. I am kinda thankful for this truthfully, because the ambitions he seems to standby just don't make sense to many, and will actually cause MORE problems than they will solve.

And oh yea, the fact that he is very close to McCain on beliefs is also a deterent for me. Honestly, all his followers seem to follow his message of "change", which is false, and his charisma. Charisma is no reason for me to vote for someone, and i think most of the people who don't approve of Obama have more logical, unbiased reasons than the people who do support him. End of story.

dude you are wasting your breath.

the agenda here is to paint us all as white racists... You can say you are voting on the issues and you will still be told you are a racist. Just read a few posts up. Your opinion has already been given to you.

How dare you have a alternate opinion than that which has been givin.frustrated

Although I'm leaning toward Obama more ... the other way to lean is a 3rd party.

My only worry is that if we do vote 3rd party will it take enough away from Obama to give the presidency to McCain? THAT we DON'T need.

Honestly i haven't read into McCain as much as i have Obama... This is my truth being told. Obama's plans will drive us down a bit quicker than we have been. His foreign policies are more aggressive, as well as other forms of government spending, than even Bush's. But from what i've seen up front McCain's policies are much the same...

I refuse to vote for an evil man, regardless of him being a "lesser" evil.

Honestly becca you have done more homework than most. Especially the Obama supporters...grumble

Whatever decision you end up running with, even if it's a vote for Obama, is an educated one. This means you are doing your job. I give you kudos for that.

To be honest, if we really want "change" we all should be focusing more on our local government and trying to vote in people that will represent us. You know, the ones that didn't vote for the bailout?...hehe

But seriously, the change we need has to be local first, than when we have proper representation, we can vote between several worth while candidates for presidency.

i've gotten much more passionate about politics this year.

the people that give a sh1t need to be heard.

at least our votes really count on the local level.

Okay, here it goes, I am going to post something that may open another can of worms but...oh well...I think it needs to be said.

In my experience, there are as many black people who harbor racist feelings as white people who do.

I have had political discussions with black friends and classmates in the past who have plainly stated that they would not vote for either candidate because they were the same in their eyes...old white men. In truth they didn't state it so politely but I don't want to get banned for repeating their verbiage.

Is that okay?

Is it okay to come out and vote for the first time for Obama because he is black? Or for Palin because she is a woman?

I have to say that as happy as I am to see both a black man and a woman in this race it makes me very unhappy to think anyone would cast a vote based solely on race or sex. To me that sort of thing is the height of ignorance and is as shameful an action as not voting for someone solely because of their race or sex.

So, is it okay? What do you all think?

You know whats funny . . . . I don't want to vote for just another old white guy either . . . . . It just seems that there is this good ole boys club where once you are rich and powerful you decide well hell, lets run for president . . . sigh/

I realize this is not exactly what your post said, or the guys meant, but it is still a shade of gray, that still applies.

We have been ruled by the people who try to pretend to represent the common man, but they are themselves the very rich F#(*$ that they say they are going to rein in . . . .

Its all a bunch of crap.

The only old white guy I see that this doesn't seem to apply to is Ron Paul.

I think I may try to help organize some Ron Paul stuff for 2012 . . sadly I just didnt hear about him till too late this time .. .
