What do you think is the reason why a person would be afraid the have a black president. I have been doing calls for Obama for some time now and I have actually had some people tell me that they would never vote for a black man. I guess they don't think I am black or perhaps they don't care. I just don't see how anyone can justify this.

I think it's long overdue.

the statement that obama is black ifs false and misleading

that is reason enough not to vote for him

it has nothing to do with his 25% black heritage

it is the dishonesty of using it to try to push more people to vote for him

I don't think I have ever heard of him trying to use it to get more votes, and if we are using the historical measures that white people made for determining whether a person was black, namely one drop of blood or 1/16 of black blood made you black then he is black and if not then there are a whole lot of us running around calling ourselves black when we are in fact not. Can't have it both ways.

Look to the future and where the human race is heading. In the history of the human race affordable mass transportation available to the general population is a very recent advance. This is bringing the world and all of its cultures together, faster than some cultures wanted. With further technological advancements and a few hundred years down road the human race will be much closer to a homogenous global society. When you see the future you realize that any prejudices you have now will not exist in future generations and are unfounded. Hundreds of years from now this election will be taught to future Americans as one of the most important in our history. What do you want their history books to say about you?

White people do not own the exclusive rights to racism.

When ever I see that suggested I get mad as hell.

If you want to talk about racism be honest about it please.

we are the majority.... and openly admit.

i think it is about continued segregation and perceived cultural differences. obviously it doesn't really matter the race or religion of the president but people get all hung up on whether a new president will have agendas or prejudices compatible or in conflict with their own.

people in this country still lack a basic understanding of each other leading to irrational fears and paranoia. it can be considered as an education problem basically but this is due in large part to continued social segregation.

Hypo-melanism is different to those who dont possess it. We as humans are creatures of habit and we tend to adhere to one another and find similiarities very securing. We see difference either beautifull and are attracted to it or we fear it.

It the difference that some people are scared of, and it really can work both ways!

do you think that that is the correct way to decide race

i do not

i think all race questions should be removed from every form of paper work (except medical forms [and the only reason is race can effect health issues differently] drinker

I was listening to the radio this morning. They were interviewing people in Indiana. I couldn't believe my ears.

One lady said that she couldn't vote for Obama because of his Muslim background and terrorists and such. WH?noway

Another man said that the KKK used to be strong in his area.
He said that they aren't around anymore but the sentiments are still there. He said if Obama wasn't black and had the same policies, he would be way ahead.

It was an eye opener hearing these things. I was shocked, saddened, and disgusted by their ignorance all at the same time.

I am by no means saying that it is a correct way to determine a persons race, cause I don't think a person's race should matter. But we all know, when he walked down the street before he ran for president, people would think, oh that's a black man. Not oh, their is a 1/4 black man.

Wouldnt it be funny if we judged people with what they said and not what colour they were???? What if all the presidential candidates were covered in asbestos suits and we were unable to see the colour??? I think alot of people would be surprized......shocked

Yup. And what if Sarah Palin was UGLY & fat? I'll bet she would lose a lot of supporters. Many like her because of the MILF factor.

People are so shallow.

Appearances have a tremendous amount of influence.....

(Dating my self)

if you "listened" to the 1960 debate between Nixon and Kennedy..the majority said Nixon won, "hands down"....if you "watched" it ..then Kennedy won by a large margin........

Nixon did not wear makeup for the cameras and sweats profusely

their "content" did not matter as much as their "appearance"
