Saying that someone is 25% this or 25% that is usually interpreted as rascist speech.(How do you know this anyway? Are you a genetic scientist/math wizard?) How the heck can someone be 25% something anyway? Either you are something or you are not Mirror I had that dilemma today as I was taking my shower. I though now which part should I wash first, my white half or my black half and then it hit me, they are all mixed together and it is only other people that only see the obvious. Well, everyone (in the world) is mixed(theres actually only one race,since we are all 100% biologically the same, but many ethnicities), and Im curious as to where the right wingers are getting these percentages from. I'd like to know what they consider "black",since they keep saying Obama isnt "black enough".Im curious as to where they are getting their info from. What I have seem from them is That he is half white from his mother, 1/4 African and 1/4 Arab from his father. which makes no sense to me. His dad is 100% east African.Ive seen the pictures. Theres NO mistaking that his father was fully black-african.Obama senior was pitch black.The culture of that part of Africa has Arabic influences going back hundreds of years.That is why these right wingers keep saying that Obama is Arab.Its just ignorance talking.Anyone that wants to know about Kenya should do a little research about east African culture. The cultures of east Africa have middle eastern and asian influences. It is truly all just racist propaganda and the sad part is that Americans are, as a group so ignorant about the peoples from the rest of the world and their history. They eat up all this non-sense so they call have an excuse to be prejudice. Your exactly right. Most of it is just ignorance ,but it is being spread by people who know better.

OK I was just curious as to where all these percentages are coming from? What is the standard being applied? How are people arriving at these conclusions? Whenever I ask, I cant seem to get an answer.

the statement that obama is black ifs false and misleading that is reason enough not to vote for him it has nothing to do with his 25% black heritage it is the dishonesty of using it to try to push more people to vote for him I don't think I have ever heard of him trying to use it to get more votes, and if we are using the historical measures that white people made for determining whether a person was black, namely one drop of blood or 1/16 of black blood made you black then he is black and if not then there are a whole lot of us running around calling ourselves black when we are in fact not. Can't have it both ways. do you think that that is the correct way to decide race i do not i think all race questions should be removed from every form of paper work (except medical forms [and the only reason is race can effect health issues differently] did you miss this post hhhhhmmmmmmmm

cool down, I think mirror was just wondering why anyone would think he was only a 1/4 black. That stuck out to me too when i first saw it.

To suppress this information would be a huge mistake, and seriously hinder any sociological progress.

When you live in a community you live as that community lives... It begins to not matter that the people next door are different... You got it backwards.Humans organize themselves naturally into groups.And in a society there are in-groups and out-groups.This information is used to determine the specific data required for sociological analysis of these various groups. Suppressing this information would be akin to a man putting out his own eyes because he doesnt like what he sees.Information is neutral.

I having been hearing about that rose garden for a long time and I think the only way for it no to matter, is for all of us to become brown and you know that thems fighting word for some people.

Actually, that IS how it works,my friend. Society IS being shaped and manipulated.Always has been.Societies are shaped (primarily)by its in-groups. The question is: What are we gonna allow to shape it?We now have better, more rational,more scientific methods of this than in the past(when it was religion,ethnic stife,etc).I dont think anyone (in their right mind)wants to going back to living in the dark ages again.

I just can't wait until this election is over. It dosn't matter who we vote for, a turd will still be elected into office I thought we were voting for your cat? and the cat's an old white one..mmm lol Yes shes old, but shes still pretty wily in her old age. I have come to the conclusion that when you say things like equality and fairness for all, that some people see this as less for them. The idea that we as human beings are of one race and therefore inseparable is lost on them. I don't know but maybe a world wide financial meltdown it what is actually needed for us to see that we are all dependent upon each other for survival. The great and small countries. As I write this i know there will be people that think i am some tree hugging nut.

Wow, you don't honestly think that rules should be provided to specific groups to make them "equal" do you? Forget the groups. As a leader think of everyone as "people". The "People" have their rights in accordance to the constitution... End of statement. If you want to end racism, stop separating the groups, and start educating people. The higher the education everyone has, the less "groups" you will have. Education is the key to end ignorance...
