Genesis 1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was [a] formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. 6 And God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water." 7 So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the expanse "sky." And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day. 9 And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground "land," and the gathered waters he called "seas." And God saw that it was good. 11 Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day. 14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day. 20 And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth." 23 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day. 24 And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." 29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food." And it was so. 31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day. Will answer original OP and thats it.......Does it say that he did so with plants and all in seed form or whole......hmmmmm seeds BURN try again.... Not really the question i wanted answered my ferralpussie - the question really is god making the sun the day after he makes the earth? earth before sun? this wreaks of old christianity thinking that the sun revolved around the earth - didn't you guys give up on that a loooooooong time agoooooooo??? or do you still think the sun revolves around the earth? Just how is it that the god you believe in would create the earth before the sun was in place to revolve around it? or did this just gradually happen afterwords? hmmm? lucccccccccyyy - you have some splainin to do to ricky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And what exactly is the point would you not look at the sun revolving around the earth as a man thing....and theory of science.....I don't really give a crap what revolves around what....I love the sun for it's warmth and the earth for all it's Glory and know that God created it all...everything else doesn't mount to a hill of beans in the whole of life. |

No one is fighting. Its just that some of us want to determine if god was indeed an all knowing being (who should understand the basic principles of science) when imparting his great wisdom to the writers of the bible or was it in fact based on the opinions and observations of the human men conceptualizing it and what their understanding of the world was at the time that they were writing this stuff.

There is only ONE GOD!! when he said place no other Gods before me , he was referring to the gods we as humans somethings make. Anything can be your God such as your dog, cat, car, cigeretes anything that you worship. God is not pleased with this, and does not want these, are anything put before him!!!! He is the ONE TRUE GOD!!!!!!!! |

Impossible probability Krimsa....Because if God was truly the inspiration for the Bible then how would God let it be around for as long as it has as the greatest Book ever written. He would of destroyed it long ago. And because people say that it was written by man.....Who listen to God and wrote it......What else could you want...and even over the centuries of re-writing it....has not changed the context from the original Hebrew.....which yes I have read.....all of them.... including breaking down the original Aramaic... |

I also provided websites, that have also provided explanations. Please read them. I have already offered Eljay a rebuttal. I also read your sites. The ball is in your court now if you have any kind of a plausible explanation for why the Sumerians had a set of creation mythology that was nearly duplicated by Moses and the other writers of the bible so much later in time. You will also notice I added the flood story from ancient Sumer. Another plagiarism. It would behoove you to read my posts in addition to Eljay's. Thank you. |

I understand what you are asserting there Tribo but, I guess I just tend to look at things in a linear context so the whole "Adam and Eve" thing really flies out the door when you take that approach. I would have to accept that much which I dont, sorry. I guess it no big deal anyway. It's just another issue that people will either think about or rationalize in whatever manner agrees with them best. yep i think so my lady. NOW!! - back to my original post - the earth before the sun? this maybe linear thinking also but!! - how could you make it out of step if you are god? if the earth is orbiting around the sun, then what was it doing for a day or so till the sun was created? and why? pretty illogical for an all knowing god huh? hmmm? we've discussed this before and a day is like a thousand[or more] years as to god who is without the time space continuum, but for man it is a 24 hr period at least for the literal fundies and evangelicals. personally i think as the psalmist says a day is like a thousand years and also an evening is like a thousand years [2000] yrs, but what i really think that means is that there really is no time with god - it can be anything he wants. but with man? how literally do you want to take it? hmmm? |

Tribo...the answer you seek is....
"God IS LIGHT " Question: "How could there be light on the first day of Creation if the sun was not created until the fourth day?" Answer: The question of how there could be light on the first day of Creation when the sun was not created until the fourth day is a common one. Genesis 1:3-5 declares, "And God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. God called the light 'day,' and the darkness He called 'night.' And there was evening, and there was morning — the first day." A few verses later we are informed, "And God said, 'Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.' And it was so. God made two great lights — the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning — the fourth day" (Genesis 1:14-19). How can this be? How could there be light, mornings and evenings on the first, second, and third days if the sun, moon, and stars were not created until the fourth day? This is only a problem if we fail to take into account an infinite and omnipotent God. God does not need the sun, moon, and stars to provide light. God is light! First John 1:5 declares, "This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all." God Himself was the light for the first three days of Creation, just as He will be in the new heavens and new earth, “There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever” (Revelation 22:5). Until He created the sun, moon, and stars, God miraculously provided light during the “day” and may have done so during the “night” as well (Genesis 1:14). Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). Much more important than the light of day and night is the Light who provides eternal life to all who believe in Him. Those who do not believe in Him will be doomed to “outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 8:12). http://www.gotquestions.org/Bible-inspired.html Recommended Resource: Biblical Creationism by Henry Morris. |

I told you I read the websites and offered a rebuttal. Did you even read what I posted? Go look at the thread. Also, do you not understand how the Sumerians themselves were linked with the Hebrews much later? They were CONQUERED by the Semitic tribes that surrounded them in Mesopotamia. The Akkadians. The Akkadians were a Semitic people. The Sumerians were not. They had a different language, different religion.

God saw that the light was good, 1:3-5 declares, "And God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. God called the light 'day,' and the darkness He called 'night.' And there was evening, and there was morning — the first day." .' And there was evening, and there was morning — the first day." tribo: here we see god saying the above - pay close attention now please - """if""" as your answer says God was the "light" on the first three days till the sun was formed, then what do you make of him saying on the first day - ""And God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and He >>>separated the light<<< from the darkness. God called the light 'day,' and the darkness He called 'night.' "HE SEPERATED >>>WHAT<<< the light[his light himself???] from the darkness [who's darkness?] "god called the light[his personal light?] day [so he called his own personal seperated light day?] and the darkness he called night." Hmm?? If god was the light your answer claims and the light "WAS GOD" then their statement is fooolish!! unless they/you really beleive that god is seperating himself into two distinct parts [day and night] do you see how silly that sounds MS? if they/you can do no better than this, there is no hope for you in your understanding. ![]() if god is light and he seperated himself from the night then he would no longer be the light you speak of would he? it would then be day!! does god give his light away to form light for the earth? and if so then he himself is not light anymore, correct? god cannot be the light spoken of and still be the light spoken of - it is clearly reffering to the seperation of DAY and NIGHT - not gods personal light. |
