i didnt write this to insult chritians, i wrote this for the people who have tried to force their religous beliefs on me,i dont know much about other religions so i chose people who try to force their beliefs on me who worship the god called "I AM" if thats the name he has no name but they know what im talking about.
What are these people's names and addresses? I will go and give them a piece of my mind. Are any of them members on this club? If not, they why are you venting here? Why don't you deal with them when they attack you and force feed their religion down your throat? JB |

Why go out of your way to invite the militant conversion by posting an inflammatory thread in the religion forum then? You are ringing the dinner bell for them.

I will answer the OP as that is what it's all about...I will not fight or debate...I can only give the answer to the question as I see it and with the beliefs I believe.
First of all God's only begotten son didn't fall to earth...He had a mother Mary who through God's was told that she would have a child and she would call him Jeuss. The Jews are God's chosen but along with many foolish men believe in only God not in Gods son...ok their choice. And as such your choices in life have consequences.... Now for me myself and I as I can only speak as such. If you do not accept that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and for our salvation...you choice...but for me again that is exactly what he did. And not sure of your ramblings on Moses and/or noah so I will stop here...... And a sidebar.....the Bible is very clear and precise to those who's ears and eyes, and most important hearts are open to understand it....for with blind eyes, closed hearts and closed ears will be like reading foreign material. |

JB i do and i just did this so no one would think about trying it on me in this forum, its sort of a heads up thing Well this is not that kind of battle ground where you have to come in looking like a tough guy to protect yourself from the big bad Christians who are trying to save your soul. So just relax. There is nothing to fear. I'll protect you. |

Yeah about that whole "virgin" Mary thing. Christian theologians misinterpreted the word "alma" to mean "virgin" when in fact it only refers to "young female" and was in fact being used to describe Mary which would have been accurate if accepted at face value. That's one of the reasons the Hebrews were not on board with this. They traditionally have been diligent record keepers. In other words, the Jews are sticklers for the details and felt that it was important to not be re-defining words and espousing a bunch of mischaracterizations. |

WALK THE WALK TALK THE TALK.....HE DID NONE OF IT! HE WAS A PREACHER ON SUNDAYS AND WEDNSDAYS, THE OTHER 5 HE SPENT TORCHERING ME AND ALL THE OTHERS! HE RAPED ME FOR YEARS !!! DOES THAT MAKE ME BITTER??? YES DO I STILL BELEIVE IN GOD????? YES DOES THAT MEAN I AM GOING TO PITTY YOU WHEN YOU STAND BEFORE WHOMEVER YOU CHOOSE TO BELEIVE IN???? NO! GET OVER IT!!! ITS YOUR RIGHT TO BELEIVE AS YOU WISH ! JUST AS ITS MINE TO BELEIVE AS I WISH! STOP THE FRUDDIN JUDGIN PPL! I am very sorry that you had to endure such treatment. People really get in the way of God's work. It's sad but that's why it's more important to know God than put our trust in people. Many people have let me down in my life...MANY. I've had some really hard knocks as well in life...MANY as a matter of fact. Did I blame God? Yes...but I couldn't leave Him either...not for long. God just would not let me go. when I finally confessed that...I had some major breakthroughts & my whole christian walk changed. It's something remarkable when God changes us. Not to get preachy on yu but I hope nothing but God blessings toward you dear girl. Don't equate God's love with human love or you will never experience His unconditional care for you & all He has in store for you. Know that you are loved.... Thats my cousin, and No she doesn't balme god anymore , although sure she did. She would not be human if she didn't. Thank you for taking the time to quote her. And Christianity is a life long struggle as you know. Peace be with you . In His Loving Arms, Rivers |

Right. And I hate to tell you but what you just described was a normal physiological manifestation of both mind and body when someone is severely injured or close to death. The brain is electrical and organic so the "life flashing before the eyes" occurrence is quite routine. That is why it is so often reported by near death survivors. The same applies to the feeling of floating and lights flashing or bright tunnels. So at least in my opinion, you dont have to agree, that is simply not enough evidence to sway me one way or another. Its all explainable by modern science. I guess. No, you always try to assume I am speaking in personal or intimate terms. No. I was relaying this medical explanation as a generalized reference point and how science explains these occurrences. You can take or leave it. That is not my concern here. Well you need to assume what I am saying is for the general interpretation of all and not somehow singling you out. You will be a much happier individual I think. |
|
|
|
I'm asking that you not assume I am addressing you personally or your own life experience. I am simply explaining what I know to be legitimate explanations offered by medical science as it relates to near death experience.

Well there would be no way of knowing what any individual in the field has experienced in their life time. If one also had that personal knowledge, it would only enhance their course of study I would presume.

I'm asking that you not assume I am addressing you personally or your own life experience. I am simply explaining what I know to be legitimate explanations offered by medical science as it relates to near death experience. Well I still have not actually heard a "legitimate" explanation. You wrote: The brain is electrical and organic so the "life flashing before the eyes" occurrence is quite routine.
That the brain is electrical and/or organic does not explain the "life flashing before the eyes" occurrence. Our entire body is "electrical and organic." That is not an explanation. You wrote: That is why it is so often reported by near death survivors. The same applies to the feeling of floating and lights flashing or bright tunnels. So you are saying that out of body experience or astral travel, (Which is described as "floating") can be explained by the electrical body? I don't see that an electrical body explains it. I don't think medical science fully understands what causes these experiences because they only recently took a serious look at the function of the pineal gland. (And they probably still do not know what all it does.) The pineal gland was once considered a vestigial organ, comparable to the appendix. It was thought to have had something to do with entrainment of light into the brain millennia ago, but was believed to no longer be functional or necessary. Only about 45 years ago, it was discovered that the pineal gland was not a decayed remnant of the primitive brain, but, in fact, produces a hormone that serves a vital function in the animal kingdom--melatonin (Reiter, 1992). But it does more than that. Lore has it that the pineal gland is the gateway into the soul. An energy vortex; a meeting place between psyche and soma, soul and body. When the body is preparing to die the heart quickens and the blood pressure slows down. As the life-force leaves our body through the pineal gland, a flood of DMT is released. It is this flood of DMT that causes us to dream, imagine, visualize, and hallucinate. The pineal gland is the third eye that sees the unseen. The pineal gland not only regulates sleep/ wake cycles and the aging process, but also appears to act as the Mistress Gland (sofia)* orchestrating the body's entire endocrine system and thus, energetically speaking, the chakra system. Some believe it is also responsible for shamanic states, visions, kundalini e.t.c. It could be the key to the fountain of youth as it is our biological clock and controls aging. Hummmmmmm .. Very interesting..... JB |

JB, I never said that I personally did not believe in the possibility of out of body experience or NDE. I said that medical science can offer a plausible explanation of why these same or very similar accounts are very often recorded. Have I ever had a NDE? No. Therefore I can not tell you conclusively if it actually occurs or what might happen because I have not experienced it for myself. I like to keep an open mind about it. But an open mind entails looking at both sides of the coin of course.
Science cannot ultimately explain why some people have near-death experiences. That's not to say that current scientific explanations are incorrect, but NDEs are complex, subjective and emotionally charged. Further, many aspects of NDEs cannot be tested. We can't run a test to determine if someone actually visited Heaven and met God or purposely take someone to the brink of death and then resuscitate them in a lab to test their out-of-body perception. Nevertheless, medical science offers compelling evidence that many aspects of NDEs are physiological and psychological in nature. Scientists have found that the drugs ketamine and PCP can create sensations in users that are nearly identical to many NDEs. In fact, some users think they are actually dying while on the drug. The mechanism behind some of these strange experiences is in the way our brains process sensory information. What we see as "reality" around us is only the sum of all the sensory information our brain is receiving at any given moment. When you look at a computer screen, the light from the screen hits your retinas, and information is sent to the appropriate areas of the brain to interpret the light patterns into something meaningful -- in this case, the words you are currently reading. An even more complex system of nerves and muscle fibers allows your brain to know where your body is in relation to the space around it. Close your eyes and raise your right hand until it is level with the top of your head. How do you know where your hand is without looking at it? This sensory system allows you to know where your hand is even when your eyes are closed. |

It's an unusual area of science, but after a patient described mysterious experiences and feelings during a close brush with death, Dr. Kevin Nelson knew he wanted to learn more.
"It was so vivid to him. I was struck by the intensity of the report he gave me," Nelson said of the patient's near-death experience, which occurred when Nelson was a medical intern. Nelson, now a neurophysiologist at the University of Kentucky, published one of the few studies on the subject in today's issue of the journal Neurology. The study compares the sleep patterns of 55 people who have reported unusual sensations during a during near-death experience to 55 people who haven't. For the study, near-death experience was defined as "a time during a life-threatening episode of danger such as a car accident or heart attack when a person experienced a variety of feelings, including a sense of being outside of one's physical body, unusual alertness, seeing an intense light, and a feeling of peace," according to a news release describing the study. He and his team of researchers discovered that the near-death study group had a significantly higher rate (60 percent compared with 24 percent) of a sleep disorder known as rapid eye movement, or REM, intrusion. This disorder causes one of the most active dream states of sleep -- REM -- to intrude into wakefulness, causing a person to sometimes wake up and feel paralyzed, experience leg muscle weakness or wake up to hear sounds other people didn't. This may explain why some people have near-death experiences after undergoing a traumatic event that causes unconsciousness, Nelson said. When a person is under the threat, their fight-or-flight nervous system is evoked. But as they come out of unconsciousness, some mental wires may be crossed. Nelson said it is important to understand that he wasn't trying to debunk any of the reasons why near-death experiences occur. He wanted to understand the how not the why, he said. "This does not impact on the personal meaning of these experiences," he said. |

I was not actually addressing whether or not you believed in the possibility of out of body experience or NDE. I was questioning your "scientific explanation" being that our brains are "electrical and organic." I don't think being electrical or organic has anything to do with it so it does not "explain" it at all. You said: "I am simply explaining what I know to be legitimate explanations offered by medical science as it relates to near death experience." Then you said: "The brain is electrical and organic so the "life flashing before the eyes" occurrence is quite routine." I fail to see how someone's brain "being electrical" and organic has to do with someone's "life flashing before their eyes." I don't think it is quite routine either. I don't actually know many people personally who have actually experienced it. My "Life flash" experience: I was hit in the head once when I fell off of a horse. My entire life seemed to flash in front of me, and I saw it all, including my two marriages and my death. Yet I was only 17 years old and unmarried at the time. I forgot most of it and I think some of it actually changed a bit... free will and all.. LOL. This was not an NDE, it was just a bump on the head. But I did get a peek of my future, or one of them, as it stood at that moment in time, until the curtain was drawn and I lost it. I also lost my memory for that entire day. I got off track. Anyway I think the pineal gland is the key to these experiences whether it is the eye of the soul or not. I believe it (the pineal gland) is the "seat of self." It is also called the third eye. There is a statue of this thing at the Vatican. Do you think they know more than they are telling us? JB |
