oK, I GOTTA VENT, CAUSE i AM FEELING LIKE aLBERT fINNEY in Network. "I am mad as hell and I am not going to take it anymore."
I will state first that when Obama started running, I thought, fat chance. There was no way in hell he could win in America. My white friends assured me that it was possible. But I have seen the worst kind of BS sad about him, I say that because there are quite a few people sitting in the senate right now who have roots, connections, friend and family that are were and probably will be involved in racist organizations. The difference between black folks and white folks is that we expect that of you. Fun you can't see way a people who have been exploited and denied the common courtesy that you would give a dog, would turn to the government to protect them. And when the government said no they used the same laws that some many americans say they won't give up, "the right to bare arms".
Wow, it is amazing to me that went we talk about our history and suffering, everyone wants us to shut up and then they parade out there own peoples history.
The biggest difference, IS that you wake up white everyday. Is there anger in the black communities and in some black churches?
Your damn right!!! I don't know if some of these people that talk about socialism have ever even been to a socialist country. The mere fact that you equate socialism with the communist mights me doubt it.
But the point it this country never be dragged into that system by one four term, black nationalist have as much say in this country as black slaves did. Can you say the same for those crazy evangelist people who only want to support Israel so it can be destroyed by whom ever so Jesus will rise again.

Come on , lets talk about it.
Logically..

Did whites treat Blacks badly in the past? Yes!

Is it still happening? No

What else?

I mean not in an organized national sense. Sure there are prejudiced whites out there, but I meet prjudiced blacks everyday too.

Come on lets talk about it!

Is it bad to be followed around in a store? For other parents in your child's school to avoid speaking to you? Come on just how many blacks, and the terns is African American, do you know not to treat badly?

Yes, but I have experienced this as well. I dont think its limited solely to skin color.

For other parents in your child's school to avoid speaking to you? This is wrong too, but Im not sure of the circumstances or where you live. Its not a common occurrence here and I live in the south. Years ago I will agree it was. In Elementary school I had a very good friend that was an African American. One night I asked him to spend the night at my house. Mom said OK, but when my dad came home he went off. He hollered and said there was no way a N____ was sleeping in his house. Me and R____
heard all this from another room, and I was ashamed, R____ started crying and my mom apologetically took him home. We are still friends though although he now lives in NY. It was wrong, and I hope this doesn't still happen today.

As an adult I will not tolerate this treatment around me. I like to believe we as whites have changed.

Yes, and we have, as a nation, healed a lot! Its time for the next step, but for this to happen people need to let go of the past. Move forward, and let it happen. Bringing it up past wrongs over and over will not help. I dont see this happening today. Even my father has changed.

Obama will win or lose on his merits, on his leadership abilities, not on his skin color!!

I do, I truly do, but if he loses how many will still say it was because he is African American?
Its a two way street you know..

You cant keep screaming racist every time someone disagrees with his political stance. This is not always true and does nothing to move us forward.
If anything you risk disenfranchising people.
Endera, like me are among the last generation left who truly remember when African Americans were repressed on a large scale.
Most people alive today do not and are only repeating what their parents have told them, or what they have read in history books. For them to continue their rhetoric and outlandish claims is not healing.

Poor John McCain.

He just can't get it right.

First he gets the endorsement of John Hagee, who hates Catholics, Jews and Muslims, now he has to reject the endorsement of someone he called his 'spiritual advisor', televangelist Rod Parsley, who has called for destroying Islam.

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/05/mccain-rejects.html

The only big difference from this situation and Obama's preacher is this person want genocide and obama's preacher speaks out about the white hypocrisy that still happens here int he states. I would say McCain's is worse. Genocide is worse.
flowerforyou I didnt realize so many whites are rascist until Obama began running for office. flowerforyou Its like a lot of my fellow whites think its okay for a black guy to be a rapper or play basketball but not be President.flowerforyou Im disapointed and shocked at some of the things I hear people say about Obama.flowerforyou

So am I. The racism is screaming.

Although the white people who are against Obama would not admit that they are racist, their zealous hatred of Obama speaks volumes.

They might not be wearing white sheets or burning crosses, but their attitudes aren't too far removed from those who favored Jim Crow laws in the South.

They can't just disagree with what he represents, they have to try to tear him down completely

Sorry, Fanta.

I don't include those who just favor Hillary Clinton or John McCain over Obama.

It's those who have a fanatical hatred of the guy.

Like he's some kind of a Fidel Castro or someone who's going to destroy this country.

Oh yes, everyone is racist.

I'm not voting for Obama, so I must immediately be a racist, right?

Im not a racist, Im a bigot.
I hate everyone the same.

I dont see the hatred based racism that you are talking about and I live in the south. Maybe it is the crowd you hang around.
Either way if I ever hear someone claim that racism is alive and well in the south, I'm going to point them to Minn, Colo, and Kentucky to find examples instead!

Fanta,

Racism can exist everywhere, even here in Minnesota.

I think you are taking it way too personally just because I used Jim Crow as an example.

I think racism exists in places where you wouldn't think it would exist, like in the middle of North Dakota, for example.

Here is a map of active hate groups as an indicator:

http://www.splcenter.org/intel/map/hate.jsp

Interesting, the most hate groups are in California.

Alaska and Hawaii don't have any.
