that's the crux of it.. the wording is that the "thinking machines" are thinking of their own volition.. but is it misleading us to believe it's simply a complex program? or is it actually programmed to think on it's own? I believe the latter is more factual than simply a complex program.. because if we think about it.. the coder is actually programming it to think for itself and although it's supposed to respond without prejudice, it's unknowingly (or possibly knowingly?) creating conversations or situations that are forcing the user to alter their own mindset..

having been offered a position to 'train' AI some time ago.. after looking into the requirements that needed to be met within that training, backing away very quickly seemed the smartest move.. it was not something anyone shud want to be party to.. just sayin..

I've started S02 of A Remarkable Place to Die it's getting a wee bit more in-depth and although every episode is 'self contained' there is a lot of ongoing drama going on with the characters.. which is giving it a nice flow..

anyone seen or heard from Storm since Tuesday??? She was taking Moose into the Vets wednesday morning and I haven't heard back since...???

in that the words are saying the AI "judges & thinks" then acts on those judgements and thoughts.. THAT'S the part that leads people to believe they are sentient.. what coding cud give them those parameters? is that NOT giving sentience to the AI?? is the AI NOT acting of its own volition? if so.. does that not mean sentience?

there's a very thin line between what is being said and what is NOT being said.. I, for one, believe that AI is capable to teaching itself and in doing so, has a sense of sentience capability..

If you follow their logic, the argument here would be that the "AI is only judging what the user wants as an outcome and performing in the way it believes the human wants, to bring that outcome to fruition".. if the AI WERE deemed sentient.. that would be considered manslaughter in the court of law..

I agree that the world is going to hell in a handbasket.. I watched the news until my blood pressure got outta control and I had to stop just to protect my heart and health.. this is one of the reasons I watch scripted TV shows.. usually mysteries so my mind is entertained enough to remain active yet it reminds me that not all 'horrors' are real.. however we can't allow ourselves to fall down the rabbit hole of single-minded conspiracy theories.. we still have to maintain some semblance of normalcy in order to remain 'sane'.. I choose what I want to watch and ditch that which I do not find "entertaining" so in reply.. I do not allow TV to control me, I control it in my own way

so I had no internet yesterday.. you lucky peeps'n lurkers you..

watched A Remarkable Place to Die S01 E01 and feel this cud be a good series..

"Detective Anais Mallory returns to hometown Queenstown, New Zealand and faces startling homicides. She cracks cases while confronting personal ghosts from her past."

Each ep is about 1.5 hrs long and there's 6 in a season, although S02 has already started dropping figured I'd start at the beginning. So far not bad.. a good mystery plays it close to the chest.. and this one is proving to be good so far..

I knew I recognized actor Aggy Tarrant and confirmed he's from NCIS: Hawaii where he played an agent in a regular role for 3 yrs..
