Hmmm...dare I be the first to ask, Lily?

How do YOU feel about this "friend"? Are the feelings reciprocated?

Kinda vital info to know before I could respond honestly and effectively.

to a nice little tea shop/bookstore in Ruidoso, New Mexico and shared a pot of tea and read to each other

^^ *Swoons* Only because I know WHO you had this date with...and what I would give to have her read to me the children's story in her Canuck accent, "I Love You This Much".

Back on topic:

Personally, I think FIRST dates should be FUN and ENGAGING!

Drinks, coffee, dinner...BLECH! ohwell

I was never into that when I was on the dating scene many moons ago...and most assuredly wouldn't be if I entered the singles scenario ever again.

Let's do something FUN, shall we? Meet me at the park, by the swings...or at the local firing range...or gooney-golf...or sailing...or horseback riding...or a wicked game of billards (prepare to lose tho!)...or the local book/music store to browse/read/listen together...anything other than staring at each other, in a restaurant/bar/grill and "grilling" one another about our lives to determine if this is the perfect fit for eternity! laugh

Truly NO OFFENSE, Popcorn...but, BOO HOO!

We ALL have been hurt...we ALL have skeletons...we ALL have experienced our own PAIN. It matters not what we have been through, but rather how we have CHOSEN to move through it.

Every day, by GRACE, I am given CHOICE of partaking in the role of victim or survivor.

Certainly, I take my past experiences/relationships and learn from them...but, I most assuredly do NOT punish those in my future for past SELF-perceived errors of others. Everyone in my present/future deserves a fair shake...on their own stomping ground...devoid of pre-judgment by my own past hurts.

Live...laugh...LOVE...freely and openly...moment by moment, person by person. It's only fair, yanno?

And, YES..I agreed whole heartedly...LIFE IS GRAND! love

No offense...truly...but, entertain YOURSELF!

When someone states they are "bored"...it only serves to prove to me they have a lack of imagination or not comfy with their own company. ohwell

Ask yourself this:

1. Do I look washed out in an orange jumpsuit, are fuzzy slippers my style, and do stripes make my arse look huge?

2. Am I cool with wiping drool from a droopy chin, buying Fixodent and condems at the same time, playing checkers at dawn, and changing Depends on a daily basis?

3. Does this person challenge and intrigue me not only physically, but intellectually, emotionally and spiritually as well?

Depending upon your answers...GO FOR IT!

As for me...five years above/below my age in an intimate sexual relationship is my semi-limit thus far in life. If you can't "relate"...you tend to "irritate"...ME! laugh

Sometings can not be forgive

Sure they can...EVERYTHING can be forgiven...it's a matter of CHOICE.

If you CHOOSE "not" to forgive...who do you think is the one tossing and turning at night with this decision? You or the "accused/condemned"? Hmmmm.....I wonder! ohwell

I suggest everyone choose carefully and wisely. flowerforyou

I had an ex wife who I threw rocks at every time I saw her for the last 20 years. in the church parking lot even. Every time I saw her I threw rocks at her.

but her husband got killed in a train crash this summer so I had to give her a hug and tell her I would quit

I will go against the grain here and state..."YES, I would talk with someone who hurt me deeply" again, because I currently do and most assuredly have in my past/present.

While I could delve deeper into the topic of "forgiveness"...I'll hold steady, as that is not the topic at hand in this thread. However, I'll simply state to those who post "I'll forgive, but never forget" have truly not absorbed the true meaning of forgiveness.

Now, back on topic...

If I allowed someone...a friend/family member/lover/spouse...into my personal bubble space based upon a foundation of trust and respect at some point in my life, I would always afford that person a "listening ear". Clearly, they have earned this respect from me.

Conversely, if the damage done is so hurtful that I need some time to contemplate/ponder/assess before we engage again on an intimate level, I will make that known to them and trust they will respect my request based on what they have learned about me over time spent with one another.

However, if and only when, I have full and complete knowledge that this person whom I trust and love has now become what I term "toxic" in my life or to the lives of others I care about, then...YES...I will cut the cord on engaging with them on a personal level.

It is quite the fine line in the sand to draw...no doubt. However, I always bear in mind and heart that where there is pain...there is love (depending upon the situation). However, experience has taught me nothing is worth sacrificing my own soul, as that is truly what I curl-up with at night...every night...always and forever.

I love love LOVE "true" bluegrass music...talk about toe-tapping and knee-slapping music, eh?

Most modern-day fans of mainstream bluegrass are unaware that this genre of music was spawned from Ireland, England and Scotland...as well as African American blues and gospel music...*OH GASP* noway laugh

IMHO, heartfelt and experienced bluegrass musicians can be detected within the first few notes...much like the blues...and if it ain't there...time to spin another CD or turn the channel.

On that note...I'll clog on down the dusty country road with Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs, Roy Clark, Vassar Clements, Ricky Scaggs, Jimmy Martin, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Josh Graves, Alison Krauss...and let's not ever forget and always remember...DOC WATSON! drinker
