1 bombing, I.e. Coventry, was largely on concrete and brick, and was aiming at factories producing things for the war, and using non incendiary bombs

The other was using incendiary bombs, not on factories, producing things for the war, but deliberately targeting civilians who lived in largely wooden houses

So there's quite a significant difference

When I was in Primary school, I remember them teaching us something about world war 2. They said it was 1 of the biggest ever black masses at that time ,something like that
They played us 1 of Churchill's speeches
It was before they bombed, I think it was Dresden
The point was, if I recall correctly ( it's a long time ago, my memory is a little hazy ) that they were using fire bombs on a city / town largely made of wood, and obviously populated with civilians. As even though, they knew, this was wrong, it would help shorten the war, so it was alright
I remember thinking, that it was just wrong
And then they played us the speech.
The speech seemed to have such 'power' ( for want of a better word) that after hearing it, you thought, actually, maybe he's right, it's not wrong, bomb the bastar*∆

Something like half a million civilians were killed during that raid

( I put this, as I felt it had some relevance, regarding the previous post, that mentioned ww2. Also, it has the word 'mass' in it, and goverments have been mentioned)

Hey Mikey, speaking of infidels, and such, 1 can't help but feel your talking about some Muslims
God fearing Christian/jewish countries, never commit atrocities, and invade other countries to overthrow there government, and steal their resources, because they'd stopped using the petro dollar huh, it was, 'a war on terrorism'

I thank you, for taking the time to respond
It still however, remains unclear.
So, your saying, God, was the burning bush, and spoke to Moses
Well I haven't done Bible study, but that part I've heard of.
Then did you say, 3000 years later, Jesus appeared, and told Moses, he was the burning bush?
If you did mean that, then Moses must be very old
I assume, you did not mean that
But still, you say, after Jesus said..
Moses me old China, that burning bush, that was chatting away with you, that was me
Get away Jesus, your pulling my leg
No Moses, I'm not, straight up, it was me. So listen, don't follow the law anymore

At this point, does Moses then say, oki doki Jesus, no more following the law and being Jewish for me?
Or does he still, follow the law, and be Jewish?
And if he did indeed convert at that point, did he then, tell his pals, who he'd rescued
Now listen ladies and gentleman
Do you remember that burning Bush I told you about, and that time God made the sea part, and killed everybody's first born, who hadn't slaughtered a lamb and put it's blood on their door
(Collectively) Why yes, of course we do Moses, who could forget a thing like that
Well, it just so happens, that I've met this chap Jesus, and he tells me, that he, was the burning bush, so ( draws a breath) he also tells me, that from now on, I should not follow the law, and not be Jewish, and after that first born business, I'm not going to argue. So please folks, if you know what's good for you, stop being Jewish
(Collectively) Will do Moses, thanks for the heads up, I didn't fancy our young ones John Thomas being sucked right after he'd had his foreskin lopped off anyway

And hence they all became Christian, and there were no more Jewish people

But there are Jewish people, thus, it still makes no sense

I consider myself to be reasonably intelligent
Yet your answer made no sense whatsoever to me
It sounded a bit like legalese
If you want to explain it, then great, but please assume that I'm a reasonably intelligent 5 year old.
I'm sorry if you think that's dumbing it down
But your answer truly makes my head hurt and makes no sense

But if Jesus, or Yeshua or whatever his name is, is God, or the son of God, or whoever, why was he Jewish, and then thought, you know what, I'm tired of being Jewish, what I'll do is, start a new Religion, that ought to help sort things out
I mean, I know that sounds a bit sarcastic, but it literally makes no sense
Hey son
yes dad
what we need is a new religion, so, if you wouldn't mind being crucified for everybody else's sins, that'd be great. .
But Dad, I've already been born of an immaculate conception, fed millions of people with half a loaf and a tin of sardines, turned water into wine after walking on it, sawed a woman in half, pulled a rabbit out of a hat, made a fortune palming the Queen, and died and been ressurected once already
Don't argue son, or no pudding for you, and straight to bed after your tea once you've done your homework, I can always take that bike back to the shop, now get crucified and die, pronto, or else
Yes dad

I'd gladly lose me to find you
I'd gladly give up all I had
To find you I'd suffer anything and be glad
I'd pay any price just to get you
I'd work all my life and I will
To win you I'd stand naked, stoned and stabbed
I'd call that a bargain
The best I ever had
The best I ever had
I'd gladly lose me to find you
I'd gladly give up all I got
To catch you I'm gonna run and never stop
I'd pay any price just to win you
Surrender my good life for bad
To find you I'm gonna drown an unsung man
I'd call that a bargain
The best I ever had
The best I ever had
I sit looking 'round
I look at my face in the mirror
I know I'm worth nothing without you
And like one and one don't make two
One and one make one
And I'm looking for that free ride to me
I'm looking for you
I'd gladly lose me to find you
I'd gladly give up all I got
To catch you I'm gonna run and never stop
I'd pay any price just to win you
Surrender my good life for bad
To find you I'm gonna drown an unsung man
I'd call that a bargain
The best I ever had
The best I ever had

Sorry, but reading all that, I just couldn't help, but think of this

That's by The Who, by the way, as you might have guessed, it's called 'Bargain'

Maybe God, disguised himself, as a monkey, to throw you off the scent, and then introduced the thought to your head, that, maybe the aliens disguised themselves as monkeys, to throw you off the scent, mysterious ways and all, I mean, it's possible

Hmm, if we just die, and that's it, then nothing
Then why have various cultures, in various countries, going back who knows who long, have practices that include ritualistic sacrifice.
What purpose, would that serve?
Are they / where they all, just idiots?

A different question
Just who was Dr John Dee?
And what was he about?

You speak of the laws of physics
What is metaphysics?
And what are it's laws?

I feel there are many instances, that point toward, various possibilities
I myself try to keep an open mind
As I truly do not know 100%
Even when I've thought I have known something 100% , on occasions, I've had cause to find out, i was wrong

To be honest, you can't really blame the newer players for diving and such
It's always been a case of play to the whistle
So 9 times out of 10 if you can get away with something, it just becomes common practice, you don't bellyache about it, you just get on with it
I'm all for red cards for 2 footed leg breakers
But I was always taught, as long as you go in with 1 foot, and play the ball first, it doesn't matter if you go through him, in fact it's a bonus
Nowadays you can make a great tackle, play the ball first, it was then unavoidable not to go through him, and get sent off
Well I'm sorry, but that's just bolloc∆s , and I hate divers too

Believing people cannot be hypnotised without their knowledge or consent, or being able to be ordered to do things they would not ordinarily do, is again, symbolic to me
Fiction and reality are reversed, fiction becomes reality, and reality becomes fiction

Thanks I'll try that
And no, on reading a little about the Abbé
It clearly states that he demonstrated being able to hypnotise somebody without them having any knowledge or memory that he had done so
Furthermore I think this fallacy regarding a person not being able to be hypnotised without their consent or knowledge, is to stop us asking some of the questions, I have posed

Blondey are you sure you've 'spelled' that right?
Because my google doesn't recognize it, and instead says
Did you mean fascism?

Thank you
I'm genuinely interested in both

You see, I think it brings up many moral and ethical conundrums
If we accept, that it is possible to hypnotise somebody, without them being aware of it (which I believe he demonstrated) and for the subject to be able to be commanded, by the hypnotist, at what point, does this become 'wrong'
I mean for example, let's say, I could hypnotise you, without you being aware of it. And I was in your house, and I wanted to smoke a cigarette in your house, but you, did not allow smoking in your house
I could then of course hypnotise you, smoke my cigarette, and you'd be completely oblivious to it, telling people what a lovely house guest I was
I could ask you, to cook me, a chicken dinner, you, could tell me, to get lost
But guess what, alakazam , chicken dinner for me
So, let's go a few steps further, I'm sure your already ahead of me here.
What if I command you to steal something for me, or to kill somebody for me.
Would you be then guilty of the crime, or I ( a la Charlie Manson stylee)
So, what governs the use of hypnotism, what laws surround it
Because sure, it's more wrong for me to command you to kill somebody, than it is for me to fill my belly, and smoke a cigarette, but they're both essentially, the same principle, both have subverted your will, and you have no knowledge of the event.
And again, going further, I'm sure you've heard or mass hypnosis, weren't they some of the principles apparently used by the Nazis, Hitlers speeches, Goebbels videos!
So, have you voted?
Was it your own free will?
Are you sure?
How can you be sure?
In fact, how can you be sure of anything?
You want to be free, 'alakazam' your free
But are you?
Is it right or wrong, for me to 'fool' you, into believing your free, if in fact, that is is not the case
So, where is the line drawn, and who draws it?

I really don't know
It seems symbolic to me, that so little is known about it, or him
That the fictional him, is more known about, than the real him
And as for laws, what are they?
Where would 1 go about finding them?
It would seem rational, that there must be some
I mean, I'll give an example, I saw this on the TV being done, and the person, never actually appeared to be asleep
You could be hypnotised into giving over your wallet, of your own free will
Would this be theft?
On the TV, the guy asked for a few things, he had map, was asking for directions, said he was lost
He also had a bottle of water, he asked his 'victim' to hold his bottle of water for him, so he could, unfold the map
Upon leaving, he asked them, to give them his wallet, which around 8 out of 10 of them did
A few minutes later, you could see them, rubbing their head, looking puzzled, presumably as the penny start to dropeth
The Abbé, was a Goan chap.
I've always wanted to go to Goa
His statue, is in the capital of Goa
Upon learning about him, again, I became, probably a bit egocentric, and wondered.
What sort of cruel twist of fate is this?
Are the Gods, having a joke, at my expense
Or is it a fate, of a different kind?
When I will finally become aware, and enlightened, of things, I've spent, practically a whole lifetime, wanting to become enlightened of?
And it's a difficult thing to become aware of
As it's 1 of those things, people deny all knowledge of.
Instead simply asking, what you may know
While they claim to know nothing
All I've really become aware of, is sometimes the more you ask questions, to try to become aware of something, the less likely they are to be answered, and thus, the less likely you are, to become aware of them
You see, I was sexually abused as a child
And when this was happening, I could not move
I was not physically restrained, in any way
But I could not move, to try to stop them, or to run away
I have to wonder, how such a thing, may be possible.
And hypnotism, is the only conclusion I can reach
And then, it goes further, I recall before going to 1 meeting with a shrink, asking my mother, if I should tell them about this
She said, it was up to me, I replied, I know that, but what do you think?
No, she replied, you should not. But why Mum? Particularly as you've just been at pains to tell me, that I should tell the shrink everything
No reason, you asked me, I think no
I then forgot about it all, for a very long time.
This had happened before
So, again, I apologize to anybody who is sick of me bleeting on about personal experiences
But I hope they'd understand, why I'd think it is relevant, and would be curious about such things
As much like the abbé, it remains mysterious.
And my mum now says, it never happened, it's a symptom ( a delusion) caused by an illness
Thus, the fiction, is more known, than the reality
Strangely symbolic huh?
Well I think so
