Michael is an Archangel. Therefore, he was never human and cannot become a saint. Saints are qualified by the miracles they perform during their life or after their death, as verified by the Church. It cannot be Michael, the Archangel.
It does sound like Michael, but, he is not a Saint. ARCHANGELS. Spiritual beings who belong to the eighth group of the nine orders or choirs of angels. The word angel means messenger; an archangel is a messenger sent by God on an assignment of greater importance. The only three archangels mentioned in the Bible are Michael, captain of the heavenly ghost; Gabriel, who announced to Mary that she was to become the Mother of God and Raphael who guided- Tobiah- a devout and wealthy Isrealite living among the captives deported to Nineveh, from the northern kingdom of Israel in 721 B.C. He is a hero of ancient Near Eastern Folklore. *from the New American Bible-Catholic Edition* The Catholic church does not name a "saint who will cast Satan away" in Revelations nor do I know of any teaching on this. I was taught that Jesus Christ will cast Satan into the fiery pit forever and ever. |
