Start as friends, a good friendship builds a good relationship. Of course this works on paper a lot better than it has ever worked for me, but give it a whirl the least you'll get is a good friend. True. I just don't want to get all attached to him and then he leaves. But I guess that's possible with everything, LOL |

Okay there's this guy I talk to, and we get along really well. We talk every night from midnight til sunrise and it's really great. The problem is, he says he doesn't want a relationship with anyone because he's scared of commitment. Then he says he might want one, because he's lonely. Then he says how great I am and how much we have in common. So I know he likes me, I'm just wondering if it's possible that he'll like me enough to change his mind about wanting a relationship, or am I wasting my time and setting myself up for heartache? Thanks in advance.

We had already talked about pretty much everything possible to talk about before I ever got there, so there was almost nothing left to say.
How is this even possible? Have you ever talked to A MAN for a year and a half for 4-10 hrs every single day? I have. And it's very nice. Mine never went anywhere though, we eventually stopped talking altogether. :( |

Don't feel bad, I'm way older than you, and I've never had one either. It's all good. I'm sure you'll find someone though. Good luck.

I'm 35, I say 21-34, but I should say 25-34, because under 25 is too immature FOR ME. :)

Race is a non-issue for me. It isn't even something I would think about, but I know that's not true for all. You could encounter a lot of negative vibes with inter-racial relationships. Just last night, I had to listen to someone complaining about her (white) daughter dating a 'half-black' guy. I was astounded, but couldn't get into it with her given the social setting (fund-raiser). I guess what I'm saying, you need to be able to stand up to that kind of stupidity if you want the relationship to work. Yep, you have to be willing to put up with a lot of b.s. I guess if you can find someone who's actually worth all the drama, then go for it. |

Well, I'd think she'd keep her profile so she could communicate with you, if she wanted to. Her loss...

What kind of magazines? Porn? I'd rather my man looked at porn than other women. Is he calling other women on his cell? Texting them? Find out and then you will know. Then dump him. Fast.

I'd end it now. The longer you wait it harder it gets. If he was into you, his "funk" wouldn't matter. I let a guy string me along for 2 months and ended up getting my feelings hurt, when I should have ended it the day I met him. Get out while you can!!!

Anyway people, I just posted this to see what other people's thoughts were on the subject, because I like to get different perspectives. For those who say it's cheating, you're entitled to your opinion. I don't agree that it is, but it's a free country so you can think what you want. For those who resorted to name-calling and assuming we exchanged words of love and devotion and all that crap, all I can say to you is re-read the post. Me and this guy are just chat friends. That's all. There's an age difference, a race difference, he has a gf, and a kid, lots of other reasons we would never, ever consider being anything other than online friends. So yeah, thanks for the input. I won't be on this particular thread anymore, my research is done. Thanks to all who participated, and poo on those of you who are narrow-minded.

It's amazing that everyone is telling you it is cheating yet you don't listen to any of us....Why Ask then?.... She doesn't really sound like his gf....more like his f#ck friend twice a month....Either way, everyone involved sounds like losers to me....you all deserve each other.... It's not about me not listening to anyone. I am listening. I'm not making excuses, I'm just explaining the situation. If we were talking about sex and proclaiming our love for each other online, I'd say yes, it's cheating, but that's not the case. It's just casual conversation. It will never go anywhere. I call her his gf because he calls her his gf, yeah she sounds more like a eff buddy to me, too, but it's his label for her not mine. As for your little insult, calling me a loser? That's real mature. I hope I can toss out little barbs like that when I'm you're age. |

if he prefers to spend time on the computer and not spend it her then I say he is immature and does't deserve her Well, the funny thing is, she spends most of her time either out in the world with her college friends or on the computer talking to one of his best friends. I think they hook up like 1 or 2 times a month for sex. So she's no prize either. I guess what I'm saying is, since the "online affair" will never become a real life affair, what does it hurt? Now if they actually intended to meet in real life and carry on, I'd say it's wrong, but the way it is, that won't happen. He gets his physical needs met by the gf. And he doesn't prefer to not talk to her, she just never has time for him. Don't know if anyone asked you this question yet. I'm asking you because you're championing and making excuses for his behavior. If you were his girlfriend, how would you feel knowing he was doing this? If I was his gf, I wouldn't ignore him. I'd move in with him and he wouldn't have time- or the inclination- to find chat online. |
