Evol & creation are totally incompatible. Darwin said so himself. He fully expected to be ex-communicated from his church body for what he proposed.
One simple question for all of the evol theist out there. If a woodpecker was not specifically created to do what they do, but rather evolved of some simpler form. Postulate just how many thousands of these "simpler" forms killed themselves trying to perfect the exact technique that woodpeckers use today to gain access to the inside of a tree. And why would they even want to attempt something so brutal? Look up the make-up of an average woodpecker & be amazed at the sheer genius of design. The shock absorbing skull, perfectly shaped beak, the vertebrae with the proper angle & on & on it goes. Another problem area that the ET's tend to shy away from is the scientific fact that any current life form that mutates, it loses rather than gains genetic code. A mutation is just that. Something less than the original. Micro-evol = yes. Macro-evol = no. Just what fossil records support evol? Unless they've been "doctored", the answer would be none. And as far as entropy goes, it doesn't address the fact that our galaxy is still expanding not contracting. The ET's can't figure that 1 out either. Lastly the "age" issue. Ever wonder why the lunar lander, used in the Apollo moon missions, had such large saucer shaped landing pads? Well, based on erroneous data postulated about how old the solar system is, the NASA scientists expected the dust on the surface of the moon to be several feet thick. And the large pads were designed to prevent the lunar lander from settling in too deep. Weren't they surprised when in fact they found that the thickness of the dust was only a couple of inches. And don't go there with the whole "it was faked" non-sense. Myth busters recently ran a series & busted everyone of the supposed moon landing faking accusations. Check it out for yourself on discovery.com. peace-out |

Have loved the show from the onset. I like the premise, writing & the actors. Especially Mr. "B" movie star, Bruce Campbell. Sharon Gless as Michael's mother is a hoot. I like the USA approach to series airing of new seasons twice a year. Minimizes the wait time.
I also like "Leverage". |

Dude:
Love the thread. I have 3 things to say. Chocolate, chocolate & more chocolate. There is no such thing as too much chocolate. Especially the dark kind. The darker the better. tru just counting fat calories isn't always the answer. It depends on the type of fat, i.e. butter vs. olive oil. They have similar calorie counts but oil olive by far is much more beneficial. You're right about watching out for the sugars. In my book the over consumption of they & simple carbs are the real culprits for fat America. Most do not know that our bodies process sucrose, fructose, glucose & high fructose corn sweetener differently. The 1st 3 mentioned, occur naturally in a number of fruits & vegetables. HFCS, on the other hand, is processed corn syrup & is at the heart of several studies because the food industry's love affair with it & possible links to higher incidences of diabetes, heart disease & liver disease. The food industry in general shies away from regular sugar because HFCS is less expensive, thanks to the artificial price propping of sugar by the sugar industry lobby & our government. I find it almost sinister that the backfire effect of protecting the price of sugar, is the killing of it's people. Here is a link about fructose consumption in America. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/12/081209221742.htm later |

it's definitely going to be a darker flick, like what he did with Willy Wonka. hell, all of his films are dark. i've said it plenty of time in the past, you can't go wrong with Tim Burton/ Johnny Depp flicks. every time they get together on a movie, it's great! can't wait to see this! I wasn't that impressed with Burton's version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Depp's performance grew old after 10 minutes. Gene Wilder was incredible in that part, I think subtle worked much better for the character. I agree about Gene's performance, especially in light of the fact that he made his mark by going over the top in most of his movies. He showed marked restraint & amazing dead-pan skills, in Willy. His performance will not be topped. i dont think anyone expected to be topped. the two rolls were the same by name but not by personality or notion. the one made by burton had and extremely heavy backstory that you cannot avoid. this completely changed the character. i enjoyed the movie but will never compare it to the old one because to me.. they are two totally different films. Point taken. Thanks for the viewpoint. |

I love the Marx Bros., but I wonder who was better, the Marx Bros. or The Three Stooges. I agree with Fabagnale. Marx brothers hands down. There is an old cinema here in Columbus that used to occasionally show 3 or 4 Marx features in a row. Day at the Races, Horse Feathers, Cocoanuts, Animal Crackers, Duck Soup, what a riot. |

to be honest there are 3 good reasons that i went form pentecostal to agnostic. 1 i refuse to accept teh one world voice/one world choice of teh end times 2 i will never respect anyone who thinks george w bush was a decent president and tells me he did gods work. 3 churchs feed you there own man made dogma of endless crap and doctrine, in other words their way of tricking you outta every dime you get for some quick to dispose of ministy purpose. I didn't grow-up in the "church" but came to faith as a teen in an extremely conservative body. I understand your rejection of extreme conservative dogma. Unfortunately it happens in many churches. They get caught-up in the religion & not on the relationship with God. Jesus took the Pharisees & Sadducees to task for the very same thing. I'm not familiar with the 1 voice/1 world choice issue you raise. There are many who speak out of turn concerning the "end times", but the bottom line is Jesus 1st returns to call His saints home & then later returns & kicks butt @ Armageddon & establishes His Earthly kingdom. He & His followers win & Satan & his followers, lose. That's all you need to know. As to whether G-W was a good president, as American citizens we have the right to decide it that's true or not. But keep in mind the O-T writing says that God puts into power whom he shall, whether for good or evil, it's all for according to His perfect plan. It's a matter of whether you trust God that he knows what He is doing. That's called faith. Finally, I'm 100% in agreement about the bilking of believers. It's an awful practice to guilt believers into giving WAY beyond their means. Tithes are meant to be FREE WILL love offerings. Remember few church bodies or leaders are corrupt. Unfortunately the bad ones gain the lions share of attention. Keep your eyes on God not man. The former won't let you down, the latter will, guaranteed. If you ever want to talk, drop me a line. |

well who am i supposed to go to when even the church would turn their back or even try to murder me? Oh, please. You can not be serious. Most biblical scholars agree that angels are sexless & normally without physical form unless given the right to "appear" physical in our world. Why would someone in a church want to murder you? More likely they would help you find some much needed therapy. Nice ploy. |

It looked pretty plain to me. If Kent Hovind is your idea of an educator then I completely understand your confusion regarding science. Let's not all question the Almighty Science. Please!! Yes, scientist claim they cling to the scientific method but many do not use the method consistently, only when it suits them. Have you examined the photos or evidence that trublu mentions in question yourself? It appears that you are being dismissive. Like many scientist's you don't welcome honest dialog about creation & how men & dinosaurs could co-exist. If the scientific community were honest they would tell you that most have abandoned Darwin's Theory. It doesn't hold water for the simple fact that the mythical transition creature doesn't exist. How many have been looking for it & not found it. Plus, if you support D-T then you are a racist. He was & he & others in the "educated classes" used the theory to justify slavery, because blacks were lower on the evolutionary ladder & therefore not really human. Let's look at some of science's gaffs regarding the beginnings of all things shall we? Do you forget that it wasn't that long ago that scientist believed that dinosaurs were reptiles. Somebody came along & decided to reexamine the evidence & found that many of the skulls of said D's were curiously very similar to those of birds, because of the numerous airway passages. They postulated that given the size of the head of a t-rex for example these air holes were needed to keep the weight of the skull at a minimum, because it's neck muscles would have been insufficient to hold-up all the weight of a solid skull. And with the lightening holes come the revelation that they would have been warm blooded not cold as originally thought. This was addressed in Jurassic Park the book & movie. Gee, they had to change their collective minds, although most were reluctant to. A natural history museum in France was outed for "massaging" the skeletal remains of a supposed "Cro-Magnum" site. The scientist could not reconcile the differences between the adult skulls & the child skulls found at the site. What mystified the scientists was that the child skulls were exactly like as modern human child, but the adults had these much larger skulls with the classic pronounced brows. If you allow humans to mature to a very old age, our skulls become much larger with developed pronounced brows. Look at early photos of past movie stars & then look at them in the latter stages of their life. Quite a difference. you can see that with family photos. Shoot look at my late teens pic & my recent pic. My head is larger Imagine what it was like if you lived to be 300-500 yrs old? So the museum came under scrutiny for manipulating the child skulls to match the adults. Good science there. Then there's the Piltdown Man hoax. 1 of many foisted upon the populace. Checkout this link for the synopsis. http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/hoax/Hoaxipedia/Piltdown_Man/ The bottom line is the scientific community knows that it has a weak evidentiary position & therefore doesn't welcome open dialog for fear of being discovered for clinging to not much more than airliner contrails. And don't get me started on carbon dating. This scientific method is famous for being wildly inaccurate. Like the time they carbon dated a live tree of about 35-50 yrs old & the test said it was in the 100's of yrs old. Here's another link for you to examine. http://www.varchive.org/ce/c14.htm And lastly as to whether the Bible can be trusted as a source of how all of this came to be, consider this. When NASA was 1st plotting their early long distance missions, they kept running into a calculation problem. According to their results the planets & related celestial bodies should have been in such & such positions. But they weren't. A Christian on the team shared the time in an old testament story when God made time standstill for 24 hours. They plugged in the new info & surprisingly it brought them much closer. Then he remembered about another time when God made time standstill for 12 hours. Having accounted for that, they were now spot on. How do you account for that? |

The thing about the Tim Burton version of that story is that it was MUCH closer to the actual book than the original version was. Depp played Willy Wonka exactly as Willy was portrayed in the original novel. Having not read the novel, you have 1 over me. So I will withhold further judgment until having read it. Thanks for the insight. |

XM guy here. I get where you're going with this. I find most local stations just don't trip my trigger. And people who say they like listening to 60's & 70's rock, I have to ask, after hearing "Walk This Way" for the 4000th time, when is enough, enough? There is usually 1 local station I will listen to when not in my car. I DVR a music/video channel off of u-verse for other music. If I do listen to online music it usually will be you tube & I get to call the shots. It avoids the "dreck". Well...I am always open to hearing new stuff because you never know when you'll run across something you like. But, I haven't heard a whole lot of stuff that I actually like recently. Try some of these: Matt Nathanson, Colbie Calliat, Plain White T's. The Coors have some great music. I'll try did up some others for you. |
