Simple arithmetic. Tim Burton + Johnny Depp = dark movie. From what I've seen so far, I like the combination of live action with animation. Stop motion wouldn't work well with the live actors. It should be awesome.

Does Helena as the Red Queen work for you? And I see after all of these years they have found a movie where Crispin Glover can be his weird self. Remember him from Back to the Future?

Alan Rickman is always a hoot.

My youngest son (16yrs) read 1 of the sequels to "Alice" "The Looking Glass Wars", he said it was a great story.

i wasnt really a fan of Jack's Joker, not really sure why, but for some reason it bothered me. i was insanely impressed with Ledger's Joker though. subdued, yet completely insane, but without being forced and over the top about it.

Ditto.

Also to Moondark, remember they've been trying to update the series so it more accurately reflects the later darker versions of Batman. To that end, even the animated versions on Cartoon Network portray Joker as someone closer to Heath's version than Jack's. Look at Batman Beyond or even the latest version of Batman playing on CN.

Maybe it is a matter of different decades, different Jokers. Still, in my book, Heath set the standard.

Anime is my pick between the 2.

I think Bebop set the standard for all other series/shorts. The full-length movie was awesome as well. Writing, voice-overs, animation, they nailed it on all fronts. I had my 1st indoctrination into anime via Adult Swim. The SYFY & Chill channels play anime on Monday nights. Check their schedules.

The newbies to anime shouldn't let the the titles of most of these mentioned, throw them. What I mean is, they produce so many titles per week that I think they're literally running out of titles that make sense. Plus sometimes Japanese doesn't translate so well to English. i.e. Bleach, most would think at 1st glance it's something about laundry, when in fact it's about soul stealer intervention. Go figure, so, do some research.

Shark_Bait didn't miss many of the more popular ones. I really like Full Metal. Trigun was cool. Anyone seen Afro Samurai? Quite violent. Rurouni Kenshin is a good 1 as well as Samurai Champloo. I like the anime style of this 1 along with the amazing sword play. Anyone seen Shigurui? I haven't but heard it has awesome animation.

Nobody has mentioned Witchblade, how come? The anime series is nothing like the TV series.

Jakerubus has the 1st mention of the Gundam series, which I like. Gotta love the mech suits going toe-to-toe.

Billy, dude. Welcome back to O-H-I-O.

Christian Bale's "Batman" voice is forced & almost a joke. I'm sick to death of foreign actors in American roles. How about we try another talent search for "Batman".

My favorite recent portrayals of Batman have the Warner Brothers animated versions. Even "Batman Beyond". There's a new 1 on Cartoon Network. I don't know who underwrites it. The animation is different, but the writing is good.

peace-out

Heath Ledger without a doubt. No one else has come close to playing "Joker" as a maniacal genius like he did. Bouncing back & forth between the sanity & insanity. I was literally on the edge of my seat in each 1 of his scenes, because you didn't know how he was going react next or how far he was going to go to make his point. His portrayal makes Jack's look a parody.

I liked Caesar Romero as Joker, but it's obvious if you have read any of the comic books, that his "Joker" was nowhere near how the character was portrayed. Besides, the TV Batman show was camp & a seriously twisted character just doesn't work in that arena.

It's my opinion that Heath's performance was so spot-on, that it would have haunted him for the rest of his acting days. I don't think he would ever be able to top his work in "Dark Knight".

Tough choice, but I have to go on the vocals of Don Henley.

I like Henley's vocals too.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought the question was "guitarist" not "vocalist". Or am I just being a stickler for details?

spock slaphead

The OP didn't specify.

You're right my bad. Z, I'm thinking the women are voting Don because he's better looking than old Joe. Ladies if you think Joe's not handsome now you should have seen him before corrective eye surgery. He used to where bottle lens glasses, poor dude.

im with you there. hes got the whole 'boys of summer' thing going. girls like that i guess.

i think joe is a good looking guy...

I've been meaning to tell u that I like new pic, Self-portrait?

Dimebag Darrell-

R.I. ****ing P dime

Of course he has to buy it right here in ole C-bus. Mental wacko took him out.

Whoever is voting for Stevie Ray, I love you. Saw him in concert, none finer in the rock blues genre. Even eric c would give kudos to him about that. I have a great about the 2 of them meeting if anyone's interested. Email me it's a bit long to post here.

1 person that is sorely missing on this thread is Brian May of "Queen". Saw them twice in concert. There was a segment where everyone in the group save Brain would walk off stage & he would proceed to give the audience about 20 minutes of amazing finger work on his homemade, 1-of-a-kind-guitar, that his father made for him. Awesome stuff.

Also can someone please help this techno limited idiot on how to post pics like ya'll are doing? I can repair avionics but can't freakin' pics on mingle. grumble mad
