then he was not raised properly. I am sorry some things SHOULD be kept until a child is of an appropriate age to deal with it (like sex, lol). Whatthe hell this mother thought she was doing letting her child know he was the product of rape when he was so young is beyond me. That is literally telling the BOY that he was not wanted fromt he beginning. With that being said, can you honostly say he was raised to believe he wasnt at fault or anything? no, he tried cuz of the medical background his biological father had, that was hereditary, he felt guilty for having those medical issues, and his mother had to 'deal' with them and remeber that day thru him, everytime he had to see the dr, and everytime he had to refil his meds yeah, i can honestly say he was raised to believe he wasn't at fault, i knew his mother, saw how she raised him face it, you don't have all the answers just like i don't, however, you cannot chalk up every abortion to the mother or the father having unprotected sex. period you cannot come to a clear decision on abortion, there is no black and white with this, there's a TON of grey area too |

and why would she not have been able to do these things?
I know several women that at age fifteen became pregnant, continued school (one even sued the school for trying to not allow her to continue) got there HIGHSCHOOL DIPLOMAS, two got their associates, and worked in order to provide. Now if you were present like you said, you would have been heloing provide, and everything so that would actually be one less thing for her to have to worry about. Dont getme wrong I am not condemning anyone for their choices (as long as it is legal for them to do so), but I cannot agree with the idea of abortion. going through hs isn't the same as doing full time college and a full time job. and myself, i was barely getting by with things in my own life I understand man believe me. No one said it would be easy. But most of the ladies I mentioined knowing were making there way through college, pregnant as single mothers froma past relationship with NO support from anyone, and working as well. So it is possible, which is all I am trying ot point out. |

thank you, amen, i appreciate you agreeing with me on this
i can't understand anyone who would think otherwise. yes it's a POTENTIAL life, but that cannot be a very healthy mental situation for the woman. if you view abortion as murder, the act is heartless. if you say a mother should have to give birth to the child of a rapist, well that's pretty heartless as well. i honestly can't even start to wrap my mind around that |

Both sides contributed and like you said there is more to the story. |

I just personally believe she should not have otld him about the circumastnaces until he was older. personal opinion there, and one I am not going ot trya nd press on with. And I agree I do not have all the answers, if I did I would be bored to death. And you are right as well to say that not all abortions are due to unprotected sex. I apologize if I came across otherwise. As far as wether there is a clear opinion/issue about abortion though, yes I can hace a clear beilef, as it follows my belief that from the moment of conception, you are alive. Look at the opposite end of the spectrum. It is argued about wether or not someone on life support only is alive. It falls under the same heading as an "unborn" fetus. I honostly believe that form the moment of conception (in other words, from the moment the male sperm penetrates the female egg, and fertilization begins) you are alive. And to abort at this stage would be the same thign as pulling the plug on a man who needs a maching to breathe by. |

my mother used to tell me, "you spread your legs and let someone have their way with ya..then it's YOUR fault ya got pregnant"
i still disagree with her to this day, one conversation that always gets heated with her..lol it takes 2 to get pregnant i've been on the end of him wanting it w/out a condom.. i've been on the end of gettin pissed when i told him no condom no sex.. i've also been passed out (yes drunk but at home) when he started and finished.. i've also been on the end of an unwanted pregnancy.. i've also miscarried babies.. there is NO black and white, only GREY here |

Two things...
First, it's been suggested this thread should be moved to the 'proper forum'...actually it is in the proper forum. This issues is a perpetual 'news/current event' item. Second, there are strong opinions obviously regarding this issue, lets debate the topic without name-calling or attacking one another as it is against the Forum Rules to do so. All I have to say is this:
When a girl becomes pregnant, she has the right to decide what to do with her body. Whether that be to carry the child to full term or to terminate the pregnancy. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and no matter how much you beat this topic to the ground, a majority of people's views are going to stay the same. Now if you want to try and abolish abortion or make it easier, I suggest starting to contact your state reps or even run for state offices. Until then, its your opinion and there is no need to bash others for theirs if they do not agree with you. |

This whole situation is very gray and I have a really hard time with it.
I don't beleive in abortion just because you don't want the baby. I do understand abortion in the situation of rape and child molestation. I don't beleive in abortion after the first trimester. I do understand abortion if the baby will never know quality of life due to medical reasons. If you don't want a baby keep your clothes on and if you're going to screw wear condoms and use the pill or something else to help avoid bringing innocent babies into the world. If you do get pregnant and don't want the baby try ADOPTION!!! There are millions of people out there that would love to have a baby and can't. |

Actually Daniel... studies have shown that people's moral values and beliefs tend to follow their religious views... its subconscious when it occurs.
So yes, your beliefs do tend to follow your religious views whether you actually acknowledge it or not |

This is a very hard topic for me to be in and I have some very strong views about it but am very open minded and willing to understand. I to am the mother of children (plural) that were not planned. Just because they were not planned doesn't mean that they don't deserve a chance in this world either with me or some one else that is better suited at that time. Yes it took 2 but it is not just "my body" it is the body of the baby that is being ripped apart as well! No matter how you slice and dice this situation there are always 2 involved and if the father or the rest of the family is there then there is more but there is never less than 2. |
