Topic: Daylight Savings Time: Keep or Lose? | |
---|---|
Donald Trump has promised to eliminate US Daylight Savings Time when he enters office. I guess he forgets that the President isn't a king and cannot eliminate it by decree. He'd have to get Congress to agree. That said, it's an interesting dilemma. On the one hand, it's not wildly popular all over the place, but it's been used for over a century in the US. Hard to break old habits.
youtu.be/A4wiCEYcJyQ?si=X2Xdhwvu7wqBXRK8 It's a non-partisan issue, and I'm for getting rid of the need to reset clocks 2x each year, even if with modern technology, many of my devices automatically update as needed. Maybe it'll be better or worse for safety and energy usage. What do you think? |

Still tweaking his words into leftist rant. Different than saying ‘ I will not pardon my son, no one is above the law.. another part of the Biden legacy.. a weak and stupid presidency . |

Whatever he does will be better than what Biden administration has done. Its great we have a change for the better in USA. D. Trump can not just change anything he wants because He is President. I am sure most people already know that. :)
I say lose daylight savings time. I am an early morning person and like daylight Early. |

It has never bothered me. I don't care either way.

No, yeah. If it's ended, some kids in Northern states will be going to school in the dark, but according to studies, the changes come with increased traffic accidents, so maybe eliminating that hassle will save some lives.

Oh my goodness there are two states that do not even follow Daylight Savings time Arizona and Hawaii.... It should be left up to each State anyway..
I would rather have longer Daylight in the evenings.. I'm all for ending this back and forth crap.. It seems no matter what Trump says you will be against it even if it is a good thing~~~ ![]() |

I haven't changed a clock in almost 40 years living in Arizona. Kinda nice. But we still have to deal with the rest of ya all changing your clocks when dealing with things related to phone calls, etc.

No, yeah. If it's ended, some kids in Northern states will be going to school in the dark,
Mortman: How could it be! If on a given day, month and place, at 7 am Standard time, it's still dark, then it will be even darker if DST is in use instead. |

Mortman: How could it be! If on a given day, month and place, at 7 am Standard time, it's still dark, then it will be even darker if DST is in use instead. Here in the US, many school children start school around 8:00 AM, and in in the winter, in Northern US states, sunrise doesn't happen until after that. Especially if you consider places where kids leave home 30-60 minutes before school starts. Not sure if you're being facetious, like I'm ignoring that schools could just start classes later in the morning or whatever. I'm not. I'm actually in favor of getting rid of Daylight Savings Time, and let schools adjust their schedules as needed in their areas. I grew up in California (not so far North) and because I had to be at school by 7:15 for orchestra practice, I often walked to school before dawn, but I don't remember it being bad. |

No Mortman, I was nonfacetious, just pointing out that if DST is ended, then the event that "some kids in Northern states will be going to school in the dark", will not follow as a consequence.
