It's very early days still, but... I'm going to be a first-time grandmum!!

My daughter is 5 weeks pregnant, and beginning to show due to hormonal changes in the body.
Everyone is over the moon happy, although I admit it is still a strange thought, hihi.
Here's me on dating sites, hoping to find partner, and there's me becoming a grandmum. Seems a bit of a contradiction, but I suppose something that happens to many of us these days.
Overall there's joy! And the prospect of holding my own grandchild, my blood, my daughter's child, wow!

My daughter and son in law have already gotten the furniture and pram in. And yesterday she bought 2 pacifiers.
They want to know the gender, but we'll have to wait a bit longer for that.

Funny thing is, I knew before she'd told me, before she was late even.
I suspected it as they were on holiday and then you're relaxed, which helps. (and clearly it did, haha).
Then I was taking the few parts of my own babybed out of the garage the other day, thinking I have space now upstairs. So as I was cleaning them first, it went through my mind that maybe, soonish, the bed would be in my front room with my grandchild. And that I'd have to buy a new mattress for it.
Then I pushed the thought away. But it was there.

A few days later I was told she was late.
Intuition is the darndest thing!

So there it is. I'm going to be a grandmum!! Somewhere April, likely a Taurus, like me and my girl although we both are May Taurus.

She thinks a girl, but the thought 'boy' creeps into my mind all the time... Wait and see!

Yes, big news or wot?! Haha.
Very excited, I think I'm SO going to cry when I hold my grandchild for the first time! Happy tears of course.

Thank you! I'm really excited about going this journey with my daughter's pregnancy. Of course she's doing it with her man, but we're in touch a lot and when preggers you turn to your mum more with questions etc.
To be part of this journey, even though it isn't directly mine, is great.
She's so like me, checking how big the li'l one is now, when the heart is going to beat etc etc.
Nowadays you have Apps for that, but she is doing this just like I did at the time.

As it is the heart should be beating now, with 5 weeks.

Haha that’s exactly what I did. Once it was a grape, then a walnut then an orange. Exciting times ahead.

I remember the first time I saw my daughter with her own child in her arms and thought it was amazing. Holding your first grandchild in your own arms is special too. Lots of special times ahead for you all.

Wait and see about the baby sitting. I'm not going to do that systematically. I don't want that, and I can't with my TBI either.
But occasionally would be good, yes!

Children daycare is right at the back for her, a short stroll out of the garden and she's there.
Coming to me each day would mean she'd have to leave 45 mins earlier at least to drive to me and then back to work.
Same when work is done. Too much of a hassle.
And I don't want to be tied down and change my entire life around either.
But occasionally, yes! I do want to be an active part of my grandchild's life!

Congrats girl grand babies are the best.. Enjoy all you can... I have 6 grand babies and my oldest grand daughter is in her 2nd year of College..

It is a whole new world for sure..That will bring you more joy then you ever expected~~~

Grandmothers are so special and I'm sure that you are going to be a phenomenal one.

Yep, hear that too, cause you mostly get the fun stuff. When they become ill, tired, or difficult they go home again, hihi.
Plus, this time round I don't have to figure out the ins and outs and much of the big decision making is up to the parents, not me.
It will certainly shift the relationship of me and my girl into a new dimension. That has already started actually...
What we all do share is that it's a brand-new experience for all of us :)
