Is it acceptable for a older guy over 50 to date a much younger women ( age limit 18 above )?

Acceptable to who? Are you asking permission? Wondering if people will look upon you as a cradle robber or think it is disgusting?
There is no correct answer. I could tell you my feelings, but I'm not going to be sitting in judgement. Last question: Why ask a group of strangers on the internet? Why not ask friends and family what THEY think? |

As you may not know it's much more accepted in all of Europe that I've been in, probably more so on the continent and you're close enough.
My last LTR was with a woman who was 34 when we split up and I was 60. I hate cliches' but we always felt she had an "old soul" and still do. Since I've been over 45 which is when I got together with my daughters mother. I was with her until I was 58 I have dated a couple of women in their 30's but for the most part women who I know right now are from 53 to 66. I don't know if I'm helping you any, I'm just one American and I've never went for very young ladies and I really don't have the desire but I have passed the opportunity over before. I was never interested in the really young except of course when I was also and When we had my daughter (my only) it made the thought of an 18 - 25 year old girl completely unacceptable. If I see a really hot 20 year old a second later I see my daughter. Do you have a fetish or is this just a basic guy fantasy? |

I don't know where you've been in Europe and where you base your conclusions on (this isn't the first one) but they're not correct. No one would easily say something of it here but it is not a common thing and as with all uncommon things it gets attention, wanted or not. Or scenarios when people assume you're father and daughter. Also logical. Maybe we leave people be more easily, but that doesn't mean it's really more accepted. As for me and age difference, I reason like you. When someone is approx the age of my kids it's a definite no-go. It'd be like dating my son or one of his mates. |

When someone is approx the age of my kids it's a definite no-go. It'd be like dating my son or one of his mates. Well Crystal my months in Europe were limited to the UK, France, Germany and the CR. I understand what you're saying and maybe my choice of the words "more accepted" was incorrect. All I'm saying is that I naturally met a lot of people and I met a much greater number of older men / younger women couples than I ever did in north America. Also try to consider that you have a woman's perspective and the old double standard still applies i.e. no I wouldn't say I met a larger amount of older woman / younger man couples there than here. One more factor thinking back most of the couples I'm speaking of would have been considered well-to-do or wealthy, more so than the average folks you'd meet on the street. So please excuse my previous wordage but I stand behind my (now) corrected statement, I know what I encountered. |

BTW what did you mean by "this isn't the first one" and have you spent time in America? You made another statement on Europeans a while back. I don't see what me having been to the US or not has to do with this? You have to understand that you cannot judge an entire continent that's made up of loads of different countries & cultures and say they're all XYZ. Yes, Europeans have a general dynamic, -although I think this is different for east and western Europe- as does America. As does every country too. But Europe is not a country and cannot be seen nor judged that way either. Americans usually look down their noses upon us and not certain whether you fit in that category too. |

I asked if you had been in the US because I thought it would be obvious; I'm from the US and have spent a very limited amount of time in Europe but limited as it is it does give me a perspective of both cultures. I am not judging anything, I'm just offering my opinion based on my life experiences. I am very aware of the geography involved. I certainly do not "look down my nose" at Europeans; 25 years ago I dove deeply into researching my French ancestry because I knew a bit of it but felt I'd be a more complete person if I knew more. This was relatively easy to do as I have a unique name and there are not all that many of us. I have traced my family genealogy back to approx. the year 1000 when my family married into the Charlemagne lineage (or they married into mine, can't remember at this moment). So I'm very in touch with my European roots plus Paris is my favorite city on this planet. It seems I always have plans on some level to go there again. |

Is it acceptable for a older guy over 50 to date a much younger women ( age limit 18 above )?
Acceptable to me? Yes. Unless I want to date her. Then no. Other than that, you're going to have to check your local laws, maybe consult an attorney, maybe ask your parents, her parents, and people whose opinion you "should" actually care about. ...Or is this one of those sneaky billboarding posts where you're "really" hoping for like an 18 year old to read this and contact you saying "Hey! I'm 18 an' I find all the guys my age yucky, insecure, abusive and controlling. I saw your post and it really made me think! I like older guys because they seem to have it together, are nicer, and more generous. It's totally acceptable for an age disparate relationship...at least to me! I am so glad you started that post so I can finally discuss this!" And you come back with something like "I wish I had a cutie hottie like you. You seem so nice and mature and wise. I just have all this money and time to travel and hang out and love and cuddle with someone. But I just don't get along as well with people my age. I have the energy and vibrations and sex drive of someone younger." And you hope she responds with something like "oh, you travel? Do you ever get to (my neck of the woods)? You seem like such an awesome and genuine and sexy nice guy and I really just need a friend I connect with, that gets me." And you say "well well well, what a coincidence! I am going to be (in your neck of the woods) this weekend! What say we get together at my hotel, I think we'd really connect and get along! I'm not looking for a one time thing...I swear! I just want to cuddle and talk all night! I'm really good at massages and foot rubs too!" Or maybe "Or we can just sit online and talk about it. So do you have any pics from when you went to the pool? I swear I don't want half naked bikini pics! It's just when people go on vacation or to the pool they're happy and smiling. I like to see people smile! Does lingerie shopping make you happy?" Is it...is it really one of those types of threads? Naaaaw...no one ever does that. I shouldn't have even said anything. |

Is it acceptable for a older guy over 50 to date a much younger women ( age limit 18 above )? I don't care or judge what you do in your personal life as long as you're abiding the law with a consenting adult (i.e., 18 or above). |

I do believe it is a good thing... that love can reach much than we can see ...Love is so great at no man can defined it ...Love is so GREAT! only God could have designed it ...smile.

Is it acceptable for a older guy over 50 to date a much younger women ( age limit 18 above )? Here in the UK It is within the law, but does most of society find it as acceptable as a couple of similar age, I think not, which I would guess is the cause of your question. In my opinion, it's an individuals choice and we live in a free country, but if you or they feel uncomfortable in dating each other for whatever reason, age difference included, it's probably better not to date them. Welcome to Mingle2 and good luck in your search. |
