Topic: What are the reasons for women CRYING more often than men | |
---|---|
The other day I read women cry four times more than men in general.
What’re the reasons? Biological. Prolactin vs. testosterone. Tear duct size. Cultural. Socialization of acceptable emotional expression. Situational. Jobs and hobbies. More women go into care giving/relationship based vocations than men (teachers, nurses) and watch movies meant to elicit tears, vs. jobs like construction, manufacturing, and action movies which do not. |

At times tears are beneficial for us because it helps relieve pain and stress usually after crying our emotions are more peaceful

And, then... There's the roller coaster ride of inexplicable mood swings, aboard the Bipolar Express. *cue carousel music,* Just FYI guys can be bipolar as well. And so dramatic you want to check for tacos. I laugh at everyone, equally and fairly. 'Lest anyone feel left out. |

What I hate about crying is when I do it in response to situations when I am very angry or threatened but instead of yelling or taking a strong stand, I cry. On the rare, and best occasions I have done both, cried AND stood up for myself. So I think sometimes we cry out of pure strong emotions, kind of gut reaction. I don't think men cry under these kinds of circumstances very often because, in general, men are so taught not to cry because it shows weakness. I say bull, it shows females weakness too but because of how we are raised (to be protected, etc, etc, etc) we are just more vulnerable to showing our emotions.
For example, I cried when I got fired from a job I loved, was good at, and respected in. But in my experience, most men would not 'dare' to cry under the same circumstances. In life in general, crying frees our soul, makes us look like crap but rids us of tension, gives us a break from thinking, crying is good for us no matter our gender. |

I am a cryer.
No way around it. I cry at weddings, funerals, church (when inappropriate) and when I pay my taxes. I just can't help it. Someone said, 'You can control that'. I don't think so or I would have by now. I pack Kleenex. |

Not a big crier here..
Never been a fan of thjose goofy "Hallmmark Channel" type movies... Never had PMS myself... I cry when it is reasonable *to* cry....grief/ sadness... I think sadly men don't cry more because they are taught it isn't somethimng they should do. I've said before, and I woll say again...Vince Gill is unquestionably a man, and a really good person, and *he* has no problem with crying in public when any normal person would.. Pertinent part starts at 1:20 Singer Patty Loveless steps in and takes over for him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l11oCvBxnQ0 |

Someone told me the other day that when people cry easily it can have to do with difficulty of receiving love.
I do cry easily, always have. I'm just a very sensitive person. I always have paper hankies with me too. |

Someone told me the other day that when people cry easily it can have to do with difficulty of receiving love. I do cry easily, always have. I'm just a very sensitive person. I always have paper hankies with me too. I would think it was the other way around, that they receive love easier because they allow themselves to be vulnerable... which is what crying does, it makes one feel vulnerable, least with me it does. Perhaps that's part of why men don't cry so much?? I cry at the drop of a hat. There was a couple years recently where I held back my tears and became very disconnected, it was as if I was protecting myself from being vulnerable while I started over in life. Back around springtime I was started crying again, a major release that was very healing. Like seamac, I used to cry with every emotion, even anger. I'm getting better at expressing anger when it's there, without the tears but still have a tendency to tear up a bit. I too am very sensitive, I can't change that and today I have no desire to change it... it's who I am. Guess I need to stock up on those kleenex, haha. It feels good to be able to cry again, that's for sure. |

I cried in 2014 when I thought Godzilla died.
I really like Godzilla and it hurt, man. Then I cried again when he got up and walked into the sea. Tears of Joy, man. |

Well, I do think you've gotten it all right in your answer about crying. This is all new to me since this is the first time answering anything!

Women are generally more in touch with here feelings,I have cried a lot for a man but I often say I’m not a typical man because I’m in touch with my emotions more than most men because of something that happened in my past,it’s not a bad thing to show or release or show your feelings, were as a lot of men can see it as a weakness and not been strong
