And the fact that every beautiful little baby is born a sinner due to something someone else did.

Sure is uplifting

And where did you get that idea? Please provide us with a scripture reference.

You don't know this about your own religion and you question my education? laugh

That's my point Rabbit - "my religion" as you put it, doesn't have a clue what you're talking about! And I don't have any question's about your education - YOU should!

I think that most people who defend Christianity genuinely have very little clue exactly what it is that they are defending.

And then there’s also the fact that everyone has their own interpretations of things too which means that the religion has no genuine clear message.

The concept of “original sin” and the purpose of baptism is a pretty standard belief, but I have heard unorthodox interpretations of this as well.

I think most people who defend “Christianity” are thinking in terms of defending an innocent man who theoretically volunteered to die a horrid death to pay for their sins. What they fail to seem to fully grasp is all the nonsense it took to get to that absurd predicament. Including the fact that God set the devil loose on mankind knowing full well that mankind was no match for the evil demon.

Lots and lots of contradictions for a supposedly all-loving, all-caring, all wise God.

After all, if man was so inherently sinful then why was a devil even needed in the first place?

No one ever stops to think about that!

Why did it take an evil demon to tempt Eve to sin????

Would she no have sinned on her own????

If that’s that case then we are all paying for God’s decision to sic the devil on us!!!

Otherwise we would have been sinless on our own!!!

The story really sucks big time!

Major problems with it.

If the author wanted us to believe that we were truly inherently sinful on our own then why invent a devil to lead us into sin????

Obviously these stories were made up by men who had limited imagination and couldn’t foresee the contradictions they were constantly introducing.

Sorry folks. I know a lot of "believers" get upset when I denounce the Bible as being divine. But if people can spout off about why they believe it is divine, then why can't other people spout off about why they feel it's absurd nonsense?

I approach it just like I approach anything else. Does it make sense?

My answer is, no, it does not. Pure and simple.

What does forsake mean to you?
(not a dictionary definition, but a personal feeling -
think about that for a while, what does it really mean to
you)

Self - What does that mean to you?

I'm sorry Britty I go by the actual meaning of words. It just makes things so much easier. So "us" refers to many not one, "me" refers to one not many,a "generation" would be a group of people living at the same time and covering the approximate life span of a person, and "forsaken" means to abandon.

I wonder why the debate is even continuing...

no one knows whether he said it or not...

All that is happening here is the defense of here say...

Second, third, fourth, fifth, who knows how many mouthes spoke it BEFORE it was ever written down...

curiously enough...

Close the gap in that phrase of here say!!!

There is irrefutable proof that more than one author wrote Matthew, and none of whom were even the disciple himself... come on...

So then... God 'inspired' word of mouth for over sixty years of only four of the gospel accounts????

Read the Gospel of Thomas... and not the secret one...

It is widely accepted as the least 'disturbed' words of Jesus...and very well is dated at the same time possibly older than Matthew...

My reply on what you were saying about the only question why did God say to himself God why have you forsaken me which he spoke in ancient hebrew. Well you have to ask your self this what witness heard Jesus say this actual verse? If you said luke well we all know luke was not a deciple nor was he apostle of christ. He was a doctor so luke is counted out. What about Mark well find for me where it says mark was deciple or apostle of christ so there for he would not truly know what he said either and you have to count the word mark out. What about John? Well we all know there was John who was also called the beloved before John the Baptist Jesus first cousin was beheaded. So yes John would know what he said and there fore there was a witness. What about James Jesus brother?

Well more like half you could say but was not mary touched by Spirit then flesh when God put in her womb the baby boy who would soon one day walk on water. So there we have to exit God enity as flesh concept here and also heavenly father. Heavenly father is more talked about in the mormon belief then any other faith i know of. For this belief believes that Jesus is Just the son of God and not the same man who well come to us on a white horse with the two sharp double edged sword in his mouth only found in revelation and also found in the old testament as well.

For the same question was asked when you said how can God say to himself i am crying for himself. Well let me tell you what do we find when we look in the bible where it says that Jesus came to a man who had a demon in him and the young boy kept jumping in the fire and Jesus said Satan come out of him and the demon came out of him just like that and then the pharisesse came to jesus and said what kind of athority is a man who can rebuke demons and the demons listen to him. For he must be satan himself.
Jesus replied and said i tell you how is that satan can rebuke satan? The same goes with why would God call unto himself and cry to himself and say God why have you forsaken me. I would say to show others that we must speak to God as not man but as spirit as thee I am. Prayer is still mentioned but it also says the father can not see anyone unless they go through his son for no one knows the father but the son and no one knows the son like but the father. Remember also when Jesus was walking with his deciples and one of them said Jesus when can we see the father? Jesus said to them i tell y ou the truth you have seen the father. Then the deciple responded and said where is he i can not see him? Then Jesus said you say you can not see the father but i tell you what ever i speak he speaks. This passage is found in the book of Mathew and Mathew is the Author of this story and Mathew is the writer of the book of Mathew.

Yeah but what about the part where his deciples in the book of mathew say to him when can we see the father? Jesus says i tell you the truth you have seen the father. His deciples then say while im sure looking around him where is he we can not see him.
Jesus then replies you ask to see the father but i tell you what ever i speak he speaks. Meaning if Jesus said what ever i speak he speaks means the father thee I am was in him. For we can not see the unseen father only moses could jacob wrestled with him And abraham Issiac's father The I am visited him. Sarai who was named Sarah laughed at Thee I am when he said your wife sarai well bare you a child and his name well be called Issiac. When Sarai heard this she laughed and Thee I am said to Abraham why does your wife Sarai laugh does she not know What is God's Will well be Done!
Sarai denied and said i did not laugh. Then Thee I am your wife Sarai well have a child and your name Abram well be called Abraham and your wife Sarai well be called Sarah and then Lord thy God went away from Abraham. He told also at the same time what he was going to do to sodom and Gormorrah where lot was dwelling and talked about the sparing and the lord thy God said if he found righteous people there he would not destroy the land
but there were no righteous people there and so the angles of the lord destroyed it when the people of sodom and gorrmorah were wicked in the sight of the lord and said lot bring your friends out so that we may rape them! Then the angels of the lord came out and blinded all the people in Sodom and Gormorrah and then destroyed them all happy ending praise God amen.

First and most important question which version of the Bible are you using as a referance? Then which book and verse? This is going to be fun if you are truely interested and just sceptical vs want someone to change your mind if you truely do not belive. I've been all and only recently came to believe, but have studied the bible(lower case meant) in many forms.

'Iamconfident':

I assure you that are truly barking up the wrong tree here...

Indeed there is no such book contained in the modern-day 'Holy Bible'... that is part of my point...

I suggest to you one thing... if you want to debate with me, I will be glad to do such a thing... be aware that your claim of the authorship of Matthew is quite easy to disprove... NONE of the apostle's accounts are of the apostle's hand...

If you take the stance that anything I present is unworthy of consideration only as a result of it not being in your belief system, I will not waste our time... such self-sealing arguments simply show existential abscence of mind...

Your call?
