So you're buddist down grading Christians. How well did you read that? Your statement here doesn't have one truth in it. You said in your previous post "...seeking other ancient manuscripts & give those interpretations." So I mentioned another ancient manuscript that was probably instrumental in the writing of the Bible. |

And for those who say the universe needs a creator cause all creations need creators. Then who created God? Your argument falls apart in one question. Ok then how does science explain creation? The universe had to start somewhere yet the laws of physics say that matter and energy can neither be created or destroyed so where did all the matter come from? |

Those were good points iamgeorgiagirl, jess & theemachine. as for as for my post, I guess a misdirection is avoidance. Some may find it hard to answer and for those who find understanding the bible might ought seeking other ancient manuscripts & give those interpretations. OF course, if you need someone to help you with the meaning of what's in the bible, there are many here that would be glad to help you. For instance one of those ancient texts you could look for would be the teachings of the Buddha to see that he did the Sermon on the mount speech about 500 years before the birth of Jesus Thanks yzrabbit1 I’m sorry that I don’t know a whole lot about the teachings of Buddha other than he was a monk and he had some good advice about meditation and relaxation techniques. I am pretty limited in knowing exactly what it is that he taught. I am however interested in knowing about other religions and how and why others believe the things that they believe. I refuse to cut someone down or ridicule them because of their beliefs like some are quick to do, even though I do have my own personal beliefs about what is right and what is wrong. I try to be a even tempered, caring and understanding individual. I accept the fact that everyone else has the right to believe or not to believe in God however they see fit to do so, as long as they don’t hurt anyone else. I am appalled at extremism and trying to force your beliefs on someone else. I personally do not worship any deity but God. I do not believe prayer should be a scripted communication or chant with God either. It should be a communication avenue just like with any other being that you are trying to convey your thoughts or concerns to. It turns me off to think of people praying to Buddha, the Virgin Mary, or even directly to Jesus because I view that as idolatry. I guess I was under the impression that people prayed to a statue of a monk and sort of shied away from learning a whole lot about Buddhism quite frankly. Even though I believe Jesus is the Son of God and an extension of God in the form of flesh (so that he could experience the world as we do in the flesh and offer us a way to atone for our sins), even he teaches us to pray directly to the Father. I pray directly to God the Father and validate my belief that Jesus is the Messiah by sometimes ending the prayer with I say these things in Jesus’ name the way he taught us to. Although I view prayer as simply a way to talk to God and I do it directly to him just like I would talk to anyone else. I do not staunchly always end my conversation to him with we say these things in Jesus’ name like some people do vehemently because God knows me and also knows I believe he sent Jesus to us to give us a way to atone for our sins. I do know a lot of people think Christians practice idolatry because we believe in the Trinity but honestly The Father, Son & Holy Spirit are viewed as separate entities only because they are in different places. at the same time. They are however all extensions of the same deity. Just like in my previous story about the time that I died. My soul was separated from my body and I could see my own body lying at the bottom of the lake. I was viewed as 2 separate entities myself at that point but still the same being if that makes any sense to you. |

I think there is a misconception I am a Catholic and there are people of other religions that say we pray to Mary and that is not the case. There is a so called prayer called "The Hail Mary" if you actually look at it though it is really just scripture followed by a request for her to pray for us.( just as you might ask a friend or family member to pray for you) The beginning of the prayer "hail mary full of grace...etc is what the angel said to mary when she was told that she would give birth do jesus. |

I don't want to speak for Buddhisms because I am not a Buddhist. But they do not pray to Buddha. He was a man and he died of old age. If they keep a statue in the house of him it is in reverence for a great man. It also helps to remind them to be peaceful.
This again is my simple explanation. |

Just posting this to those that read the Bible and believe in God and Jesus the Son.
Jesus is the mediator, the intercessor, not a messenger. When you pray to God, Jesus will intercede, petition, your case with God much like a lawyer. God only will decide if you are worthy enough to receive your prayer request. Pray to the Father, in Jesus' name. "Father, in Jesus' name ... ". That is if you are born-again. Those not born-again do not have the right to use Jesus' name. Read Acts 19:13-16 where the Jewish exorcists got beaten up by the evil spirit because they used Jesus' name without authority. John 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give to you. I always pray to God through Jesus. Sometimes ending with the Holy Ghost. I am careful not to go up to an altar in a church unless it is a circle or half circle with a bench to rest upon. That would be an idol otherwise. I quit wearing a cross to represent my belief in God becuse it is also an idol to remember Jesus. I should not need that to remember Him. Kat |

I do have to ask one question though. How can Mary pray for anyone since she in fact is dead? Hmmm! |

Ok then how does science explain creation? The universe had to start somewhere yet the laws of physics say that matter and energy can neither be created or destroyed so where did all the matter come from?
First, it’s totally in appropriate to view science as competing with religions, or to ask how science explains creation. Science is an ongoing study and doesn’t claim to have all the answers. It merely seeks truth and will probably continue to seek truth for many millennia to come. Secondly, the statement that the laws of physics say that matter and energy can neither be created or destroyed is actually not true. This is only true in the macro world. In the quantum world the laws of physics are quite different. In the quantum world matter can come into existence from “nothing”. In fact, there are actually several scientific hypothesis for how the universe may have gotten started from quantum fluctuations. The Heisenberg uncertainty principle actually allows this to occur. With this, along with some principles of quantum gravity, Alan Guth was able to propose a mechanism called Inflation that explains the creation of the universe in theoretical terms. So there are explanations for the creation of the universe in physics. There are other potential explanations as well, one is called Twistor Theory, and another called Loop Quantum Gravity. All of these explanations are purely theoretical at this point, but it just goes to show that theories can be constructed using our current knowledge of physics. String theory has a proposals as well, but String Theory’s proposal requires many parallel universe that all have existence, so I’m not sure if it would be a valid notion of creation since it just assumes a larger meta-universe containing many parallel universe to already exist. Alan Guth’s proposal does not require any “material” object to preexist. It does, however, require the quantum fields to pre-exist. But in a very real sense quantum fields could very well be the essence of what we call “nothing”. A quantum field that is not fluctuating is totally undetectable in any physical way. Therefore, from a physical perspective a quantum field does not exist physically until it vibrates. The vibrations of a quantum field are what we call “physical reality”. It may very well be that quantum fields are indeed the essence of the spiritual world. The stuff that ghosts are made of. So science is not as restrictive as the Newtonian physics you were taught in high school or even in an undergraduate college physics program. Most college students really don’t grasp the significance of quantum physics, or general relativity. They just think of them as Newtonian physic with quirks. (that’s quirks not quarks). Anyway, to compare science with religion is absurd. Science is not a religion. It’s silly to say, “Science doesn’t have the answers therefore religion must be right!” In truth, science has proven religion to be wrong in many areas. |

Well, as far as my beliefs go. I have found it quite easy to believe that there is a greater force in existence. For how facinating it is that life is created. Yes, I said "Created". Take water and let it sit in a tub. Watch little organisms grow and become insects. Even things as simple as breathing is not given to you by choice, but it is allowed that you breathe. You cannot choose who you are going to be with, but you take when it is available. There is most certainly something that governs this earth, and that is where my beliefs stay. I find it hard to believe that so many facts, new discoveries and truths to be proven are being revealed each day by scientists regarding events in the Bible.

Jesus never existed. He was born to virgin mary which means that he was monoploid in genetics. How many monoploids do we have on earth at the moment? DOLLY THE SHEEP, KOREAN DOGS, A COW, TWO RATS AND BUNCH OF ANTS.

TO Rabbit:
It would appear that the Sermon on the Mount was lifted from the Dhammapada. Further, the Gospel of John shares parallels with the Bhagavad Gita. Interesting stuff. |

Eljay: Thank you for your clarification, and I do indeed appreciate your wording in the last post to me... Rapunzel has not necessarily offended me... actually her statement did not offend me in the least, and I now realize that I should have claified this... I thank you for allowing me to recognize this... Broad generalizations, which most, if not all of us, make at times... are inherently problematic... and can lead to much confusion of intent... I should have asked her... Purpose is always existant in the truest of senses... and as we have accepted, it is not always recognized for what is... Thus is the problem of implied meaning... it is the receiver who translates the implication... Thank you again... i appreciate this comment very much , Creative Soul... Peace to you Brother ... i know that no one person is perfect and no matter truly what any of us believe, it is of utmost importance that we all seek to broaden our horizons , laying down preconceived prejudices we have for one another, seek out what unites us, moreso than what divides us , to make this world better and brighter and happier to live in ... when such terrible wars are going on over such trivial things, all of us who seek to make this world better, need to step up to the higher ground and put away unnecessary things... We will all find out one day what is really real... I will say though, that, as for me...... and also for a lot of other people i know ... we would rather pass into the next world believing as we do... that Jesus is our Lord and Savior, and that He is coming again in the Heavens... with a Light as bright as the Noon Day Sun in majestic amazing Power and in Glory... like no man has ever before seen... and every eye shall see Him this time and every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ Is Lord .... i would rather die believing those things..... and find out that it isn't true...... than to die unbelieving.... and find out that it all was true |

If you want some supporting evidence for rabbit's claim, read the Dhammapada and the Bhagavad Gita. No disrespect intended. Good luck. Edit: Check out the Upanishads, too. |
