Another thing I've always wondered...

If New York is so great,
Why is Lady Liberty smiling at New Jersey?

Okay... I'm gonna get hate mail for that. ^^

Come on now!!.. that's enough Lol

I was reading a magazine a few years ago around Christmas time and it showed a cartoon of Santa in the sled over a city.. taking a leak. Blitzen asks Rudolf what Santa is doing and he answers

He always p*sses on Newark.. Lol..

Jersey gets no respect.. even in the comics.

And the fire dept. boats were there. I am sure the same thought ran across their minds as well.

All they had to do was say it was a scheduled power washing of the statue. A good blast from that hose and that lady would have landed in Jersey city.

They should have left her up there and let her get down on her own.

The problem with that is if she fell her family would have sued the city of New York and the SLPC, ACLU, Obama, Bernie Sanders and the woman was elected would have sounded off on the city of New York because she fell.

Even though she climbed up the statue.

Hell, she would have sued the city if she broke a ankle while being taken down. But it would have been nice to let her sit up there for a few days and no one even bother to look at her. Let the pigeons use her for target practice.

She needs a speedy trial. 40 years probation and deport her.

I think America has become too soft after Clinton and Obama took office.

I honestly believe that if she did that during Reagan's time in the office they would have detained her , deported her with due process of course, she would have been made an example of.

I hope that Trump's people make an example of her.

Reagan would have made a example of her right then and there. She would have been on the news being lead out of NYC court by U.S. Marshal's and sent to Fort Dix in Jersey ( military jail) for federal arraignment.

Remember the air traffic controllers.. he told them to get back to work.. they didn't.. he fired them all.. then they cried foul...which fell on deaf ears at the Whitehouse.

Reagan didn't take and garbage from anyone.

This goes to show the extent of her need to stay per se, although what she did was dangerous and uncalled for, she did it to get attention; attention which is now being talked about. I understand that through a standing point (Ethics) she did something truly bad and horrific, however through the emotional side of view things (aka another way of knowing) you can see that she did it to show how immigrant parents and children who wish to get away from the horrible conditions in Mexico, for example, will do anything to get a better education. And yes I understand she “ruined it” yet there has to be admiration to the fact that her life was risked at the cost of getting attention, on a day where Liberty was given, liberty which the children and parents don’t have.

Im afraid I dont agree with you on that one V1ctor, breaking the law to bring attention for a group of people breaking the law isnt justification.

There are many places in the world who are worse off than Mexico, you have people in Cuba or Venezuela who are suffering should they be allowed to come to America because of poor condition in their home country?

There are many "poor people " in America that needs taken care of too, shouldn't the government be concerned about their citizens first?

The United States like every other country has rules and regulations, if one want to emigrate to the States you have to qualify.

If authorities start saying hey all who is poor come on over, if you cant afford the food we will give it to you for free, if you cant afford clothes we will give that to you for free, if you need health care we will give it to you for free.

What incentive do they have to work if its all provided?

Remember it costs money and if the tax paying citizens stops paying taxes where is the money going to come from to pay for these programs?

I took a July 4th vacation to NYC 4 yrs ago. Harbor cruise for the fireworks.

I would have been really po'd if some law-breaker had gotten in the way of anything I was doing.

She should be tried, pay restitution to all agencies involved in her hijinks, then deported.

Why hasn't that thing been boxed up and shipped back to France?

This country does deserve it, and no one here lives by the principles engraved on her tables.

Just a big eyesore now, a reminder of what America used to look like. shades

I will never understand why people thinks its okay to break the law while protesting about people breaking the law in the first place.

Im sure the meaning behind the statue of liberty meaning didn't mean bring us all the people who breaks the law so you can have liberty and freedom at the expense of others.

If that is what America stands for today I will be more than glad to stay where I am .

What is the point of having immigration laws if a certain section of people wants to ignore it?
