"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, "
Ironic isn't it? A woman being punished exercising freedom of speech, Trying to bring the world's attention to the plight of immigrant families being separated. |

"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, " Ironic isn't it? A woman being punished exercising freedom of speech, Trying to bring the world's attention to the plight of immigrant families being separated. Yep, punished as she should be. You see, nobody here has a problem with free speech.. nobody. It is our right, it is in our constitution. And nobody here has a problem with protest as long as the protest does not disrupt the lives of other people Which this did This protest took place on a national monument.. one not there for climbing. It is there for all to enjoy, not for one person to take over and use as their own soap box. This protest changed the vacation plans of 1,000's of people. This protest scrambled 100's of law enforcement personnel and cost a lot of money to address. This protest could have hurt someone So, when someone does that here in N.Y.C., then tend to get a nice hard bed at the Brooklyn House of Detention hotel ( sorry.. no pool) for a few days. ;) She is where she belongs and no pity from me.. she put herself there. I am sure her 15 minutes of fame are gone and stark reality has set in for her. This little escapade will cost her dearly in criminal record ( city and federal) and fines. She accomplished nothing other the being seen for what she is.. a fool |

Hummm but even the Freedom of Speech has rules one must follow when exercising it.. And Trespassing on a Monument is not included as well as putting others in Danger to get her down.. Immigrants that came over were protected and families not separated due to they came over the Legal way... My family had to come over the legal way from Germany why should others not have to go through the same channels and make it legal.. Ohh and were was all the Protesters when Obama did the same thing when in office this is kind of back wards that they ignored it prior, but now all of a sudden since President Trump has enforced a law that was already on the books and should have been enforced years ago they want to protest.. |

She was extremely lucky it didn't rain. If it did, she would have gone low-very fast.

https://heavy.com/news/2018/07/therese-patricia-okoumou/ Yesterday a woman ( part of a group) that was protesting children being separated from Illegal alien parents decided to scale the Statue of Liberty foundation on the 4th of July holiday. Now, here in the NYC area the 4th of July is a big deal. People from all over the world plan and take their vacations here at this time. They save for the trip and want to be part of the festivities. On average, 22,000 people visit the Statue of Liberty on the 4th of July. Unfortunatly, because of the actions of one person the Statue of Liberty was shut down and police resources had to be used to get her safely from the statue. It took hours as she laid around up there waving to helicopters and taking cat naps. But for some, disrupting the plans of 22,000 and putting police in harms way ( not easy to rig rope on the statue) to satisfy your personal views is o.k. The antics of the looney left are just as bad as the behavior they claim of President Trump. I hope she is sent to prison and hit with a heavy sentence. |

I'm sure if she would have fell and killed herself, the city would be sued for allowing her on the statue. Then there would be a huge outcry if the city fought the lawsuit. The NEWS networks would roll out their experts on what should have happened and people would be posting long responses on facebook and twitter would explode. I don't know the layout of the Statue of Liberty, but I do know it's a huge no no to throw a penny off a sky scraper as it could kill someone. Imagine if she fell off on her little stunt and landed on a little baby, child or elderly person. They would have been killed. I hope they nail her a$$ to the wall. |

She pleaded not guilty to all charges. Wonder if she felt she had a right to Prostest any way she wanted, even if it put others in great danger to rescue her. Actually its common practice to plead not guilty at your initial appearance that way you get offered a deal and usually lesser charges. Any lawyer would tell someone to plead not guilty at the arraignment unless there was a deal in place but here in Nevada you can not plead guilty to a felony at your Arraignment Hearing. I am guessing that's the same in New York. |

She was waving.. taking little cat naps. taking her shoes off and trying to get higher.. good luck with the not guilty plea. she woke up this morning now that the spot light is off her in a jail cell. Reality is starting to kick in. They are not going to go lightly on her, rightfully so. Is she in Rikers? If so that is one of the most dangerous jails in the country. |

No, because it is actually a federal offense, she spent a few days at the Brooklyn house of detention. Still a very nasty place. then she saw a judge and pleaded not guilty.. Lol. posted bail and then was released. I am sure the city will hand the whole thing over to the Feds. who will also charge her. I think the feds take precedence in this case. I floor it when I am just driving by Rikers.. the place even looks terrible .. from the outside.. and it smells!! We do have some very nasty jails here. |

She belongs to a group called "rise and resist" perhaps the NYPD should send them a the bill for the rescue .
And remind them because of her illegal stunt 22,000 people were turned away which cost the city revenue or does that matter to them? |

Nah, they don't care who they infringe or step on during their personal crusade. they could care less. I don't know if the city will bill her for the expenses it took ( she would never pay it anyway) but she is certainly facing stiff fines that she will have to pay.. or go back to jail. |

One's right to free speech,
does NOT override another's private property rights. Nobody interfered with the groups right to speech. Just the location. |

Here if you want to protest.. you can. Just get a permit and keep it civil and that's it.
Protest anything you want. Plus, ( correct me if I'm wrong) she was protesting the illegal kids being separated from their parents. Wasn't that already being addressed and a solution in motion by the government before her protest? If so, her entire group needs a wake up call |

Ive never understood why some activist protests and breaks the law to bring attention to people who also breaks the law.
Occupy wall street was one thing and I get it, although I dont get why they trounced other law abiding people's right but that is another story for another day. I would be like me and a bunch of protesters staging a sit in front of macy's preventing people from entering into the store and protesting on behalf of people who break into house to steal things because they are poor and their families and young babies need to eat? |
