Topic: Reading profile before messaging | |
---|---|
I'm thinking for the most part is to save time. Going thru all the possibles and maybes on the profile and striking out on the first inning is a major bummer. So to save us ...us meaning me and whoever. ..let's jump in and test the water..none of these toe testing stuff. . That's just me tho .... I don't speak for all men. "I'm thinking for the most part is to save time." ???? Because if a guy (legit guy, not scammer) messages me, and mentiones nothing about my profile (like, "I see you are into x, y, z too....cool"), i will ask him some pointed questions, which, *had he* read the profile, i would not need to to.. I have no interest in or patience for the kind of non-conversation that goes "hi"....Hi..."how u"..Good..."wassup"...Nothing... Like someone else dais: "I can understand your idea, but if they're too lazy to read a profile, or think they're so irresistible I would change my parameters --- I wouldn't want to meet them." I *love* a lengthy, informative profile...it gives me an idea of what, if anything we'll have in common, if we see eye-to-eye on key, core issues...aside from having conversation starters.. If it is just one line...can't do that.. To each their own. |

While I appreciate an informative profile and have one, I don't bother writing much more than a greeting in the first email. When 99% won't message back, I'd rather spend my computer time doing something a little more productive.

Why don't people read profiles before messaging? I do... And majority of the time I don't message them because of no profile, or just to picky for me... Of course most run when I mention"disabled".... As we grow older more are "disabled", it does not mean they are dead! I'd much rather have a man physically disabled than mentally! It takes a special kind of person to have a relationship with a person with a disability. Usually that person has gone through some kind of physical pain themselves. I for one agree with your statement because of the ignorance of others. I have a disability, it can't be seen or noticed most of the time. Finding someone with a disability does not prevent me from looking further at the individual. I say, what is on the inside is much more important than what we see in the mirror. |

My hypothesis is they are lazy and seeking instant gratification. They are not interested in getting to know that person, they just want a quick hook up without putting in any effort so they only look at the pics like a toddler lol.

Some do read them some don't...Myself I do read them mainly to see if they are married or just looking for a one niter which I by-pass like the plague...
Actually it does not matter how much they put on a profile it is all about if they can actually carry on a conversation or not.. But profiles do help at times to eliminate those that you know you would not have anything in common with.. |

I always read the profiles of women that I might be interested in. I'm not sure if anyone reads mine, given the number of young women who match with or just view me.

I'll read if, it's short and informative.
Otherwise, they might tend to talk as much as they write. |

I think the really young guys, in their 20's, couldn't care less what your profile says. If they see anything about you are not looking for a relationship, they take it to mean you are looking for casual sex.
