problem is there is a extremely large amount of gun stock in the USA and this will only fuel a large black market so in the end the problem may not go away but be more unchecked then now, BTW i agree that automatic gun parts should never have being allowed to be sold in the 1st place but to late now.

And not to mention the criminals do not operate inside the laws. So all the tougher regulations do is give them an advantage. Also not all assault rifles are fully automatic.

Sensible gun laws are coming whether you like it or not
That's vague and pointless. What exactly is a "sensible" gun law? More specifically what is it (are they) going to require and how is it (are they) going to be funded and enforced? say goodbye to the sale of assault rifles, bump stocks,
high capacity magazines, loopholes and short waiting periods.. Bill Clinton tried some of that. Didn't really work, didn't have that much of an effect on gun crime or gun ownership. It did help bring future demand forward to the present when it was going to be passed, where people stocked up on everything that was going to be illegal. I know lots of people that still have boxes full of "high capacity" magazines from the 90's. Some they sold at height of the market, others they kept seeing what Obama would do. It mostly didn't work because: 1. it had a lot of opposition which pulled out a lot of the more intrusive components. 2. it couldn't violate the 2nd amendment (or 4th). 3. law created new loopholes which were easily exploited. Whether you like it or not the 2nd (and 4th) amendment exists. Owning a firearm is exercising a right. No different than a march on Washington to protest an invasion of Iraq or standing on a public sidewalk chanting "what do we want? When do we want it?" or going to the library and reading about General Washington. With the 2nd amendment existing, trying to ban firearms, specifically classifying some as "assault rifles," from law abiding people in order to "save the children!" is little different than classifying pro/anti Trump speech as "hate speech" (or "assault speech") trying to "save the children!" from hearing anything that might cause a negative emotional reaction which leads to violence. Gun laws can't/won't meaningfully change as long as there is a 2nd (and 4th) amendment. Laws that try will ultimately be challenged in the supreme court. i say good, it's about time.........what say you ???
I say bad, at best it's sensationalized outrage that is ultimately eroding rights for the sake of a false sense of safety. When they fail or are shown to be pointless the process is just going to entrench both sides to fight harder against each other and insight more sensationalized outrage. Just leading to greater polarization with nothing else being accomplished. IOW just spreading hate, stress, anger, helplessness, lack of control. Nothing positive. |

And after all these "sensible" gun controls laws and the next mass shooting occurs...then what?? The only thing to stop a criminal or a psycho with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Time to arm teachers with training and guns and get rid of the "gun free" zones which are the targets of most of these killers. |

I do not allow myself to underestimate the ease with which people can ignore what is before their eyes. I tend to think that when a problem impacts enough people of some type of means, the more serious the problem is taken and the more likely there is to be policies and action enacted. so maybe Florida will be the 'last straw' as you say. I say it is hard to argue with anything that is truly 'sensible', by definition and if you have any sense...lol. I do feel it would be shameful for us to keep ignoring that something needs to change though. |

The left has no rational solition, because the problem is not guns....its bad human beings....can you ban those please??? We do ban things. We ban small toys that can choke kids, we ban certain types of chemicals for foods, et cetera ... it doesnt lead to banning 'everything' it isnt an all or nothing situation. |

And yes, a trained gun owner may eventually stop a shooter, and decrease the number they can kill, or they can, in the confusion, be mistaken as the shooter and shot themself ... but I think its more sensible to take precautions to prevent it even GETTING to that point as often ... |

2nd amendment,it's a right to have a gun.banning guns is not happening regulating the RETAIL and MANUFACTURING of guns does not infringe on a right to OWN A GUN. Making all types of guns inaccessible would, and noone is calling for that. It's like regulating the building and sale of homes does not prevent people from access to have shelter, Retail/manufacturing of weapons does not prevent people from having access to (any) weapons. |
