British Foreign Office spokeswoman said Gibbons had been charged under Article 125 of Sudan's constitution, the law relating to insulting religion and inciting hatred.
I doubt they could honestly say she was guilty of deliberately trying to do that. |

British Foreign Office spokeswoman said Gibbons had been charged under Article 125 of Sudan's constitution, the law relating to insulting religion and inciting hatred. I doubt they could honestly say she was guilty of deliberately trying to do that. She was charged under Article 125 of Sudanese Criminal Code which deals with insults to faith and religion. Article 125 of Sudanes Constitution deal with National Defense. ie: Article 125 Popular Defense Force The Republic of Sudan may establish a volunteer Popular Defense Force from among the Sudanese people for national defense, to maintain national security, or to assist any regular forces. The Popular Defense Force shall be under the command of the National Armed Forces or the Police and shall promote defense, security and other general purposes. The law shall determine organization, duties and supervision over the Popular Defense Forces. Note that the President of Sudan is likely to issue a full pardon. |

The source of course was the bbc, but one would think if there was any error, they would have corrected it. I understand there is likely to be a full pardon. |

Hitler a christian - Don't be fooled by this type of rhetoric. The Epistle of James makes the point that it is useless to claim to have faith but have no deeds. (James 2: 14-26) The outrageous, cruel and vicious actions of Hitler vis-a-vis the Jewish people, gypsies, and other non-Aryan groups shows the absolute vacuity of his "faith." He was friends with a certain fanatical group, they are not christian. As they say the devil comes as an angel of light but he cannot profess Jesus. - I always say 'the proof is in the pudding' with that argument then i guess the car bombers are not muslum and neither are those going after the teddy bear teacher hitler argued with christian doctrine just as the fanatics argue with muslim doctrine you can not have it both ways their is extreme fantism in every religion |

i do not think i would say anything at all
till i got out of country or she may not sorry to say that is a bit of the problem people go elsewhere and do not realize the simple dangers involved you cross that line called a boarder the rules change can you imagine what would have happened if she had no one to give press coverage and this did not get out of country coverage a bit scary if you ask me |

No one knew I was there except my boss. He worked really quite hard to get me out, or he would have been joining me! |

This thread, and the conversation reminds me of a few Aussies in an Indonesian gaol, as we speak.... Shapelle Corby, who is still adamant that she did not import a large quantity of Marijuana into the country..
And the Bali Nine, a group of young students used as 'mules' to try and bring a large quantity of Heroin back to Australia. The Nine, are sentenced to death, quite soon, actually... my personal thoughts on them, are they knew the risks... Shapelle Corby, that case makes no sense, why did a large weight of Marijuana, that wasn't discovered in her boogie board cover, in Australia, before her flight, when she checked her luggage in, and yet was there when she arrived in Bali? |

My time in incarceration was spent with a chinese fellow called Peter.
He had been convicted of drug smuggling He was being transported to Alor Sitar on the mainland to be hanged. He was very resigned about it, as he had said that it was used to feed his family. I had no sympathy for him, as he was a Malaysian who knew the law. ... and, yes, Robin, I was an illegal in a country that tolerated illegals, until someone informed on me. The immigration officers who arrested me were the same ones that I drank with every night on the beach in Lyn's bar in Langkawi. I wrote all about it, in a story, if you want it, then send me an email address and I will send it to you. --- This is why immigration is a topic close to my heart ... |
