Topic: When I was young....................... | |
---|---|
I was going to post this on another thread but then I thought what da heck, let's just have fun and share some sweet and not-so-sweet memories....
ok, I'll start.... When I was young (yes I know that was a very long time ago and there was no internet then), I was in college, had a bf, had lots of friends and we danced and partied every Saturday til dawn... no alcohol, no drugs, we tried to smoke cigarettes to look sophisticated lol |

We grew up in NYC ( 8 kids, and 1 German Shepard and a small house). We didn't have much money or things, but we were happy. Mom made sure the house and our cloths were clean, made sure dinner was on the table every night. Dad worked his a*s off to support the family. Everyone in or Irish neighborhood was in the same boat. We didn't know any better.
We played outside all day long. No computers.. not internet.. hell no cell phones yet Lol.. But we had fun. And when the street lights came on it was time to go home Life was good :) |

When I was young we never got dirty cause there was no such thing as dirt. That's right, I'm older than dirt.

we did have a T.V. it had a big antenna on it.. and depending on the signal strength we would have to wrap tin foil around it.
At times one of us would have to stand there and hold the antenna a certain way so the rest of us could watch the program. they was a lot of " ahh.. come on heh!!!... I did it yesterday!!!.. Lol |

Lol oh that sounds so much fun, greeneyes When I was young my father believed that tv would keep us from doing our school work so no tv for us... I had to go to my cousin' house to watch 77 Sunset Strip and screemed like crazy with my two cousins whenever Kookie combed his hair. |

When I was young my head could still handle annoying clips like that first one.
These days not so much anymore |

When I was young... on my high school graduation (photo below) my father gave me a beautiful gold watch and I still have it.

When I was young "fast food" was watching a chicken run around the yard after my dad had broken its neck Yeah, hihi, just that my dad didn't break its neck, he cut it off. More fast food... mom needing potatoes, dad going in the garden with a spade, sticking it underneath the potatoes and me and my sister grabbing as many as my mom needed. Or getting a meal of fresh green beans from the garden. That was actually a lot of fun! |

When I was young... I had to go to bed at "kiddie bedtime" but it was always too early for me, I couldn't sleep. (I still can't go to bed early). So after my mum had tucked me in and left, I quietly got up, sat in front of the window and watched other, slightly older kids play outdoors till I got tired enough to be able to sleep.
