You actually make some very good observations, Peakstar. Welcome to the site.

From my previous experience, I've found a few flaws in assigning certain members to be moderators. Sure, its fun in the beginning, what with the power to delete posts, or edit them...but it ruins all the fun in it. Members who are moderators, are there to keep the peace. That means moderators get censored more than anyone else...because they have to really watch what they say. I was a very opinionated person in the debate area on the last site, but after becoming a moderator, had to learn to keep my mouth shut alot of the time. I got many an email from the site administrators reminding me of my "keep the peace" moderator duties..which means not stirring up $h*t basically...it got so boring and I just said to heck with it. Some of the other moderators were going delete crazy. On the moderator board we even held a contest to see how many spammers we could get each month! It ruined the site....all the competing between moderators anyways..

When I came here and saw how things were different....trust me this is much better (imo). Letting each member have equal control over the forums will help keep this site just the way we like it.
