There is an unwritten law to internet dating that goes something like "The potential match you find will live a minimum of 4 states away".

Well hell Bunny...I am told all the time Oh you live in another country and they live in Oregon, Cali..etc.. living in Alaska has been like living in Siberia

The further away some people are, the better. It is sad to discover how many insecurities and hang ups people have on dating sites and the way they twist something sweet and innocent and turn it into something ugly and fodder for ridicule. I truly feel sorry for such people, especially since they are the ones who are obsessed. Lol :-)

With some guys I have offered to meet halfway. They don't like that Idea, and they don't want to meet close to where I live. I have driven a long ways to meet someone. I don't know what a guy wants in that regard.

Simple solution to the OPs problem: just don't look for love on an international dating site. Find a regional one if your in the States.
I don't look for love here ... if I want to find a nice Dutch man, I'm better off on a Dutch site. And I ain't sure if I want a Dutch man, or a man at all, lol, so currently I ain't even looking. Mingle is just a great place, lots of great people, that's why I'm here. Get lots of PMs from Americans these days, but I've come to realize that the weather in the US isn't all that great. You either freeze your butt off, get cooked alive, and if you survive that, a tornado will whip you up and toss you around a bit, or one of the many thunderstorms will electrocute ya. Not that I ever wanted to move to the US, but knowing this, I'm just gonna stay home, lol. Well, I'll vacation there next year hopefully, but still. *oh, I'm just goofing around, so pls no one take offense, I'm just in a happy mood :) * |

People always look better from a distance. You just fill in the details you want in your own head with your own bias. i.e. "the grass is greenest waaaaaaay on the other side." well I think there is about 8 people from my area on here and they are all male but one which use to be :-)
What do you think that means? does anyone really expect to find love on a site like this? People have all sorts of expectations.
A lot of people say they expect to find love but really just hope for some sex. if we really was honest to ourselves we are here to chat and try to interact with each other
Isn't that what dating is? Do you not do that on dates? If you did neither of those things on a date...would you consider it a good or successful date? if one does happen to find love on these sites it would be rare
Who knows? There aren't any reliable statistics on online dating. Almost everything (if not just everything) available was sponsored or conducted by dating sites, or based on information provided by online dating sites, then reported by someone else. |

Topic: why are they always so far away ??? This is an international dating site with members worldwide, so it is very likely that when you find someone on here that you are attracted to, they will live far away from you. Maybe that tests how strong and genuine your interest in them really is, how far would you travel for the right one. Welcome to Mingle2 and good luck in your search. |
