A fire without fuel doesn't burn hotter. The more fuel there is to burn the longer and hotter it will burn IF it's still getting oxygen. Basic fire safety teaches that type D extinguishers are the only ones that work for burning metal. Even with coal oak and bellows a blacksmith only gets iron or steel glowing to increase maleability, not liquid.
