interesting

huh Is "interesting" now a synonym for "racism"?

all racism is interesting
but not everything interesting is racism

so, no, I wouldn't call them synonyms

Then why not just say that Spike Lee is practicing and promoting racism?

I don't think, from what is his actual QUOTE, that he did either,,,personally.

FORT GREENE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Spike Lee had some harsh words for whites moving into predominantly black neighborhoods in New York City while speaking at a Black History Month lecture at Pratt Institute on Tuesday.

As 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reported Wednesday, the director and Brooklyn native said that white newcomers to neighborhoods like Fort Greene and Bedford-Stuyvesant are doing the wrong things.

Lee told the audience that while he’s all for democracy, he doesn't like that whites are trying to impose their standards and wealthy ideas on everyone and everything, D'Auria reported.

According to Lee, with white gentrification comes disruption. The entire rant was transcribed by New York magazine.

What we have here is a blatant act of anti-white racism, and you can't acknowledge that it is racism?

I sure hope that we don't have a case of ...

no, its a case of reading the quote and not the opinion of the quote...lol

"Heres the thing: I grew up here in Fort Greene. I grew up here in New York. Its changed. And why does it take an influx of white New Yorkers in the south Bronx, in Harlem, in Bed Stuy, in Crown Heights for the facilities to get better? The garbage wasn’t picked up every (expletive) day when I was living in 165 Washington Park. P.S. 20 was not good. P.S. 11. Rothschild 294. The police werent around. When you see white mothers pushing their babies in strollers, three oclock in the morning on 125th Street, that must tell you something. "

Where's the PROOF. The pictures, videos, anything showing white women pushing strollers in the street at 3:00 in the morning?

Actually, it is a case of totally ignoring what precedes the quote.

That news reporter isn't giving an opinion. That news reporter is stating what actually took place. Spike Lee went on an anti-white rant.

Your refusal to admit that Spike Lee engaged in an act of anti-white racism leads me to believe that we have here a case of ...

Spike Lee is a known racist. During his movie press releases, interviews etc. He demands news outlets and reporters are all African American.

"A month before the film was released, Spike Lee asked that media outlets send black journalists to interview him. The request proved controversial. While it was common practice for celebrities to pick interviewers who were known to be sympathetic to them, it was the first time in many years in which race had been used as a qualification."

""I'm doing what every other person in Hollywood does: they dictate who they want to do interviews with. Tom Cruise, Robert Redford, whoever. People throw their weight around. Well, I get many requests now for interviews, and I would like African-Americans to interview me. What I'm doing is using whatever clout I have to get African-Americans assignments. The real crime is white publications don't have black writers, that's the crime."

wait, does he DEMAND only African americans

or does he REQUEST African americans are sent in order to contribute to their opportunities?

I see it as the latter,,,

would it be as controversial if a female asked for female reporters to have their interviews

or a Christian to ask for Christian reporters to have their interviews?

rofl rofl rofl

still no word on how those 'demands' are harmful or unreasonable to expect for those students,,,

like when people 'demand' impeachment, the process costs money that has to come from somewhere, but they have the RIGHT to voice the expectations they have from the ENVIRONMENT from which they are a contributing member

without people putting them down as moochers and future welfare recipients,,,

smh

but I have become accustomed to the double standards of our culture and the 'freedoms' people are supposed to have,,,,,most my life

nothing new to see here,,,

Wrong threads but just as wrong here. And there is an old axiom that seems appropriate, one that keeps doing the same things and expecting different results.

That's called "Being stuck in the old ways".
Corrupt politicans do it all the time.

First, the quote is the definition of insanity from Ben Franklin...

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." (Benjamin Franklin)

Being stuck in the old ways is not always bad unless it impedes true progress. And then there are the politicians, to most an enigma unto themselves, but not really to others.

How can a politician be but corrupt. To win a political office requires an immense amount of money in comparison to the reward(salary). So who has that kind of money, why those that would benefit from that election many times over. So how can politics be other than corrupt.

You realize they make more then just their salary right?

there is a difference in being pro black and being anti white...
but i'm not sure you understand this as you don't see a difference when someone is pro white or anti black...

I respect Spike Lee. He's rich and powerful enough to be able to tell it like it is in his life, and Im happy to hear it. Sounds like observations to me. I couldnt care less if he likes or dislikes where I live and I dont think he really gives a poop about it either. js.

calling everything racist because that label makes you happy doesnt really work. Things mean what they mean. Go ahead and try to rewrite the dictionary.

Yea, but he has a history with racist and Anti American remarks. This is just more of it.

more personal attacks, how lame, and OLD,,,,whoa

Not really.

From his quote;

he doesn't like that whites are trying to impose their standards and wealthy ideas on everyone

you see white mothers pushing their babies in strollers, three oclock in the morning on 125th Street

A woman pushing a kid in a stroller at 3 in the morning? Where's the proof, pics, this statement is just pure, unadulterated, BS?

10 to 1, he's the richest homie in the hood. So, who's pushing weathy ideas?

Don't get me wrong.
I like the boy. I seen many his flicks. He does some good work.

He jest needs to stick to that. Cuz, when he jest opened his mouth, stupidity oozed out, like thick slime and stankay.

I have never watched one of his movies, I don't watch movies made by racists. Kinda like I wont watch ANY movie Sean Penn is involved with either.

i don't think you do... being pro black means helping blacks in a way that isn't racism... anti white means they are directed in a way to hurt whites, no matter how... spike is the latter, like king shabazz, Louis Farrakhan, and a few others

king barry would be pro black, as Jesse Jackson is too,
can you see the difference?
