Topic: Spike Lee Doesn't Like Whites in His Hood | |

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." (Benjamin Franklin) that was Einstein, not BF... wrong white guy... Well you would be incorrect, it definitely wasn't Einstein and has also erroneously been attributed to Franklin and Mark Twain also. However ...a similar quote is from "Sudden Death" by Rita Mae Brown, from 1983. But then, James G. Jensen "Step Two: A promise of hope" ca 1980...: ..."When I came into the program, I heard that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results"
Also, Thanks! I’ve added this to the extended discussion of this quote at Narcotics Anonymous. You’re correct, it certainly appears to have been in oral use prior to that point (1981). I respectfully suggest that the quote "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting it to come out different" is a misattribution to both Franklin and Einstein. So in reality, neither one of them in all probability said it and there is much debate on the definition as it should be stupidity, not insanity. The point being, that was my point. |

are you saying the internet is wrong? The internet is never wrong. It just allows journeys that end in places you don't want to be. It is always the diligent one that gets where they want. |

interesting Is "interesting" now a synonym for "racism"? all racism is interesting but not everything interesting is racism so, no, I wouldn't call them synonyms Then why not just say that Spike Lee is practicing and promoting racism? |

FORT GREENE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — Spike Lee had some harsh words for whites moving into predominantly black neighborhoods in New York City while speaking at a Black History Month lecture at Pratt Institute on Tuesday. As 1010 WINS Carol DAuria reported Wednesday, the director and Brooklyn native said that white newcomers to neighborhoods like Fort Greene and Bedford-Stuyvesant are doing the wrong things. Lee told the audience that while hes all for democracy, he doesnt like that whites are trying to impose their standards and wealthy ideas on everyone and everything, DAuria reported. According to Lee, with white gentrification comes disruption. The entire rant was transcribed by New York magazine. Heres an excerpt: Heres the thing: I grew up here in Fort Greene. I grew up here in New York. Its changed. And why does it take an influx of white New Yorkers in the south Bronx, in Harlem, in Bed Stuy, in Crown Heights for the facilities to get better? The garbage wasn’t picked up every (expletive) day when I was living in 165 Washington Park. P.S. 20 was not good. P.S. 11. Rothschild 294. The police werent around. When you see white mothers pushing their babies in strollers, three oclock in the morning on 125th Street, that must tell you something. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2014/02/26/spike-lees-comments-on-nyc-gentrification-sparks-debate-in-fort-greene/ at 3am in bedford stuyversant? it tells me that the hookers are bringing their kids to work.... |

interesting Is "interesting" now a synonym for "racism"? all racism is interesting but not everything interesting is racism so, no, I wouldn't call them synonyms Then why not just say that Spike Lee is practicing and promoting racism? I don't think, from what is his actual QUOTE, that he did either,,,personally. |

I don't think anywhere in his quote did he say he didn't want whites in his neighborhood, that was someone elses interpretation of his words,,,,
his quote indicates an objection to the difference in his environment between what service was offered before and the services offered now,,,, and an objection to the culture of his environment being overtaken and disregarded for a new culture,,, |

I don't think I'll have to agree, 100%. |

I don't think I'll have to agree, 100%. more personal attacks, how lame, and OLD,,,, Not really. From his quote; he doesn't like that whites are trying to impose their standards and wealthy ideas on everyone you see white mothers pushing their babies in strollers, three oclock in the morning on 125th Street A woman pushing a kid in a stroller at 3 in the morning? Where's the proof, pics, this statement is just pure, unadulterated, BS? 10 to 1, he's the richest homie in the hood. So, who's pushing weathy ideas? Don't get me wrong. I like the boy. I seen many his flicks. He does some good work. He jest needs to stick to that. Cuz, when he jest opened his mouth, stupidity oozed out, like thick slime and stankay. |

I don't think I'll have to agree, 100%. more personal attacks, how lame, and OLD,,,, Attacks, we just agreed with what you said. I know that is rare, but how is agreeing an attack? An attack is when someone that is seldom agreed with starts with the names. |
