Which country is more racist,America or England? Your answer could help me in my new book on racism Ah, a false dilemma is being presented. Racism comes in many forms and is practiced all over the world, not just in two nations. Plus, the definition of "race" isn't quite objective. For example, a few years ago, this website had a member who had a Korean mother and a Japanese father. She lived in Japan. She was discriminated against in Japan because she was not a pure-blood Japanese. The movie "Kill Bill, Volume 2" features the kind of racism that be found in the East. In the movie, the character O-Ren Shii cuts a man's head off because he criticized O-Ren Shii for not being a pure-blood Japanese. In the Middle East, anti-Semitic racists want to rid the Middle East of everyone who is of the Jewish race. A book about racism would not be complete if it doesn't mention how people of any race can be guilty of racism. American economist Thomas Sowell writes the following. I am so old that I can remember when most of the people promoting race hate were white.
Apparently other Americans also recognize that the sources of racism are different today from what they were in the past. According to a recent Rasmussen poll, 31 percent of blacks think that most blacks are racists, while 24 percent of blacks think that most whites are racist. he difference between these percentages is not great, but it is remarkable nevertheless. After all, generations of blacks fought the white racism from which they suffered for so long. If many blacks themselves now think that most other blacks are racist, that is startling.* Thomas Sowell Be sure to mention that people of all races practice racism. Talk about how black racists want everyone to tolerate their racism. Mention how black racists want us to believe that everyone is a racist so that they will feel better about their own racism. Be sure to talk about how the USA isn't the way that it was in the mid-20th Century, about how racial barriers have fallen in the USA, so that it isn't a person's race that holds a person back. Instead, it is a person's behavior and decisions that hold a person back. Mention how some people will cry "Racism!" when there isn't any in an attempt to deflect attention away from the fact that their choices and behavior got those same people in trouble. If you really want to be bold, then talk about how race hustlers want people to think that racism is so out of control that the world needs the race hustlers to fight the racism. Put all of that stuff in your book, and then you will have a good book. *Quote Source |

Exactly; I feel that some black people are creating an edge to exalt themselves above whites in the racist call. It's the blacks (some) who are stirring up racism as a sword.

Racism is the lowest, most crudely primitive form of collectivism. It is the notion of ascribing moral, social or political significance to a man's genetic lineage, the notion that a man's intellectual and characterological traits are produced and transmitted by his internal body chemistry. Which means, in practice, that a man is to be judged, not by his own character and actions, but by the characters and actions of a collective of ancestors.
Racism claims that the content of a man's mind (not his cognitive apparatus, but its content) is inherited; that a man's convictions, values and character are determined before he is born, by physical factors beyond his control. This is the caveman's version of the doctrine of innate ideas or of inherited knowledge which has been thoroughly refuted by philosophy and science. Racism is a doctrine of, by and for brutes. It is a barnyard or stock-farm version of collectivism, appropriate to a mentality that differentiates between various breeds of animals, but not between animals and men. Like every form of determinism, racism invalidates the specific attribute which distinguishes man from all other living species: his rational faculty. Racism negates two aspects of man's life: reason and choice, or mind and morality, replacing them with chemical predestination. Racism The Virtue of Selfishness, A genius is a genius, regardless of the number of morons who belong to the same race, and a moron is a moron, regardless of the number of geniuses who share his racial origin. The Virtue of Selfishness Racism Like every other form of collectivism, racism is a quest for the unearned. It is a quest for automatic knowledge for an automatic evaluation of men's characters that bypasses the responsibility of exercising rational or moral judgment, and, above all, a quest for an automatic self-esteem (or pseudo-self-esteem). The Virtue of Selfishness Racism Today, racism is regarded as a crime if practiced by a majority, but as an inalienable right if practiced by a minority. The notion that one's culture is superior to all others solely because it represents the traditions of one's ancestors, is regarded as chauvinism if claimed by a majority, but as ethnic pride if claimed by a minority. Resistance to change and progress is regarded as reactionary if demonstrated by a majority, but retrogression to a Balkan village, to an Indian tepee or to the jungle is hailed if demonstrated by a minority. One very good example of brute collectivism would be the NOI. They don't allow whites or Jews in their gang.
Mormons used to be but, they were pressured into changing their belief system and allow Negros into their cult. |

Dr Sowell must be of course referring only to the US. Racism is as old as humanity itself. Racism was not simply practiced by white people and white people come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds some of whom also practiced a discriminatory attitude toward each other vis a vis how the Irish and Italians were first treated when they came to the states.
You can find racism on all continents and race based discrimination too. In US we have legal protections in place that protect people, including white people, from race based discrimination in work place hiring, purchasing property, and education opportunity. Some complain it's not enough, some claim it's gone too far at the expense of whites. It seems to work pretty well in my experience, even with it's flaws. As more and more people of color gain in wealth and education, it will be interesting to see if those people apply the same standards of anti discrimination to themselves as they expect from the white majority. I've seen racism at work in both directions. It's never pretty. |

Racism exist everywhere and most of us are guilty of it through discrimination on basis of colour and place of birth. Racists are everywhere and there is no point stereotyping about which country is most racism tolerant. In the past for instance, Germany has had issues of racism but lately, the tide is more in russia and even france. Racism is generally unhealthy and uncivilized. We all need humanity re-orientation (cultural, value, religious and attitudinal) to make the World a better place.

Im with Dodo in that I believe racism exists in all humans. In Britain, my experience was that there was hatred for Pakistani folks and Polish folks. The comparison to the US is African Americans and Mexicans. I'm sure we all conjure hatred for groups where we see fit. Hopefully we recognize it in ourselves when it happens and we can change. your comment prompted me to consider that even though racism exists as you describe it, first, it also exists in "reverse." The attitudes of those groups towards that white majority can be racist also. That often goes unnoticed because for some reason this something the "disenfranchised" are entitled to? No, I don't think so. It is understandable though because anyone who has been wronged wants to seek justice. So once becoming "enfranchised" will the temptation be to seek a passive sort of revenge and practice the same discrimination once eschewed? Second, I think the black experience is unique in the US in that those folks ancestors were brought here by and large as slaves (except for very recent immigrants). I am not sure that this applies to the other groups you mentioned. So I do think because of their very vocal and successful struggle it is a unique experience. Black Americans have made this country their home in a way that no one else has....except maybe the original ex cons and indentured servants who settled the place, and the natives of course, some of whom are still pissed off at all of us. To the OP, if you want a book about racism in America. Go to the reservations. |

Which country is more racist,America or England? Your answer could help me in my new book on racism Having spent time in both countries, and been married to a brit, and spoke with his family and friends about the history,, Id say, due to geography and history, America is more racist and England is more nationalist. I think it is more about Geography and history though. IN America, out history is very founded in racism, do to the racial nature of our laws, slavery, and jim crow,,etc,,, IN England and Britain, the history is much more founded in nationalism. THE countries surrounding England are more like our STATES, in terms of Geotraphy. The history is also more founded in NAtionalism with England sort of bullying the other countries and taking over to form the UK. From what I experienced, there is a lot more NATIONALILSM there because the oppression there was based upon nation more than race. IN America our oppressive history was based more in race than in Nation so it manifests more in racism. WE were much more often approached and addressed as AMericans during my year in Britain, than we were as black people, although there was much curiosity(more than judgment) about the difference in our skin color or hair texture,,etc,,, I Also noticed there was ALOT of hostility in Wales towards the English, and from speaking to other Welshmen and women, that isn't exclusive to WAles. There is a feeling amongst many that England had imposed upon their culture and their history and their traditions. IN England and Britain there seems to be a lot of NAtionlist bigotry against PAkistanis though. By our definition of race, Pakistanis would be considered racially 'white'. So I would consider that bigotry to be nationalist rather than racist, although in England Pakistani may be considered a 'race' of its own. ITs just my personal observation that bigotry is in every country, and racism is too, but the most prominent types of bigotry will be found in the history and geography. Juat my observation though. |
