If I want to do my man, and him me, all day long because we have the energy (lol this is more of the issue than the age of any other factors like demanding kids, a boss, or ageing parents), desire, or ability is going to be more about if we are both in the mood not a number or day on the calendar.

Some days it might be several times several days in a row. Relaxed, on a great vacation, celebrating retirement, a new grandchild, a new load of fireplace wood, or comfort over the loss of a dear friend, a sad movie, or just because the trash truck woke us up out of a sound sleep.

Some days it might be not at all. I know my lover is worth waiting for if he is distracted, or I am, and it is not some personal slight, or deprivation, or punishment, or duty already completed.

One thing I think truly loving couples enjoy about sex is it is a journey not a goal. I don't know when I walk by the love in my life and caress his cheek if he is going to just register it as a suggestion for later, or doting affection, or if he is going to get up and chase me into the bedroom. And I don't really want to. Predictable, routine, turn out the lights we have to do it sex is about as inviting as a tooth ache. I want to be able to walk nude to the shower with out being accosted but it is nice if I powder my tah tahs and lay down beside him weather it is the last lap of the race or his Momma is on the phone I want him to not only take notice to get his motor running; and mine in high gear. It would be a thing of priorities. He would be mine and I am his. And it would not be about numbers but the quality of the expression.

I guess everyone's different, not to mention how often a person puts you in the mood. With some guys I've wanted it every given opportunity, others whatever night we meet up, and then some less often. I think a good indication of a generally healthy relationship is when you still want to have sex with them regularly. I'd say at least a couple of times a week would be a "healthy" figure but, as PacificStar says: it doesn't really work if it's "quota sex". It has to be when you're in the mood, not because you haven't had sex for a while. If the interest in waning, that's something you need to address. Sometimes it's just the demands of life getting in the way and people just have to be reminded that relationships need some TLC too.

Kind of amazing that there are that many singles, free to have a sex-life, and yet many haven't had sex for a long long time. It used to be you had sex when single and not get it anymore when married for a longer time. Have things reversed?
