In 2011, an estimated 14,612 persons were murdered in the United States. This was a 0.7 percent decrease from the 2010 estimate, a 14.7 percent decline from the 2007 figure, and a 10.0 percent decrease from the 2002 estimate.

There were 4.7 murders per 100,000 inhabitants, a 1.5 percent decrease from the 2010 rate. Compared with the 2007 rate, the murder rate declined 17.4 percent, and compared with the 2002 rate, the murder rate decreased 16.8 percent.

Nearly 44 percent (43.6) of murders were reported in the South, the most populous region, 21.0 percent were reported in the West, 20.6 percent were reported in the Midwest, and 14.8 percent were reported in the Northeast.

Well the murder rate is always higher in the south because of the illegals coming in from Mexico...this also explains the decrease in murder rates, because of the Incredibly long economic depression we face from this administration, less illegals are coming here and thereby, less crime.

Not opinion..it is fact. most violent crime in the south happens in border cities and towns. From drug lords, illegals and trespassing on farmers land(that border mexico). And it's a fact that illegals trying to enter the US is way down because of the economy.

When making Judgements it is better to see Numbers. Internet articles are usually what you see on here for Proof. You have none.

If you don't believe me..research it yourself. Compare violent crime stats in cities with the toughest gun control laws (DC, Chicago, Newark) to cities with little or no no gun control( Dallas, Tallahassee, Tuscon etc) and you'll see cities with the toughest gun control laws have the most violent crime....not an opinion but a FACT!

I never said all murders are from guns...I said the huge increase of gun sales in the last 4 1/2 years prevent more murders...whether its from an attacker with a gun, knife, bat or whatever.

We have the worse economy ever, with more people in poverty then ever...so it can't be lower because of the economy.
If Obama has done anything for this economy it's been the highest gun sales ever recorded(FACT).
Govt Stats show states with tougher gun control have higher violent crime rates (FACT look it up!)
I know it's terribly difficult for a liberal to comprehend that more legal guns equals less violent crime rates but it's a fact that you can't dispute...unless of course it's not from a govt website and just some liberal rag.
