Have you run into many bullies on forums?..I was a member of another forum for years and years. But the climate and atmosphere really started to change recently...More and more bullies stepped-in and took over. I guess they view themselves as "top dogs" or ??...It reminds me of how popular kids are portrayed in teenage movies. They act like snobs and "pick" on other kids...Have you ever run into anything like this on forums?

There are no bullies in cyberland. This is just a dream that some think is real. Just a bunch of typed words that mean nothing in your real life. Flick the words that make you feel bullied off your mind like a dried up booger off the stering wheel.

Hmmm.
I have run into those on the forums who are
very sure that their opinion is ever
so much more valuable than anyone else's.

But usually, their readership deteriorates
enough that even they get the point.

Not really. I mean of course there's a**holes that come and go, but this site is pretty good about keeping them under control.

The thing about A-holes is; they're everywhere people go.

You have a good point there, you should wear a hat so nobody will notice.

mingle mods do a very good job at actually monitoring the posts so that type of activity is squashed pretty quickly,,,

I don't see it that much but then I tend to stay out of the volitile threads of religion, politics, and the like.

Generally I think just refuseing to post in a thread where things get radical is the best way to starve it out. Usually when someone that likes to bully can't get anyone to respond they get bored and go away.

Never hurts to report people who are showing out, calling names, and making things personal because as hard as they might try they can't monitor every word that is posted. I tend to think we are all grownups and if you don't like how you are being treated personally you have to speak up for yourself.

Some people joke around and it isn't taken personally even though it sounds pretty hostile from the outsider. The only thing is I think it makes it appear that being crude an rude is somehow funny or acceptable and I find it kind of juvinile.

Yes and I treat them like I treat bullies in real life. I get up in their grill and flex on them. And when the froggy leaps I let the pimp hand come forth with fury and strength!

one must keep the pimp hand strong!

Not so much on this site....

though I have been suspended a couple of times for putting them under the boot when they get lippy with my friends instead of reporting them.

Mingle does an outstanding job of keeping that crap to a minimum. (though it is impossible in the religion and politics threads...those kids are just viscious...the perfect always are)

It is pretty pointless though.

I noticed long ago, that there are a whole lot of people who are exceptionally brave towards me while hiding anonymously behind a computer.....

yet in actual, real life.....no one has had the nuts to crap talk me straight to my face since I was a kid.

I WOULD give my actual opinion of exacty what I believe cyber-bullies to be...but, I am sure I would get moderated.

Probably for the best.

Not so much here... other sites that are not very well moderated are awful though.

Of course. On virtually every forum you have people who feel that every word they post is gospel, and that anyone who denies it or feels differently must by heretical.

Ignoring them is the best way to go, since arguing with them or acknowledging them in any way really just gives them what they want... justification for their presence.

I don't see them as bullies though, more like large pests.

Not here, but there's one particular movie site that's famous for it's trolls and bullies.

I agree. Seen a couple come over to "us" from another site and was glad to see them get deactivated.
