I'm not talking about witchcraft in particular, but the routine killing of heretics, men and women included. Like I said....your statement was completely untrue. How do you know? Did you live back in those times? Is History been proven to be accurate? Where do you get your information and how do you know? There was a sect of Jesuit priests whose job it was simply to kill heretics. That is what I heard. It was a long time ago. So many people were killed because of their beliefs. People who did not believe that Jesus was a God were simply slaughtered. Sects who worshiped the Goddess were also just slaughtered. Are you paying attention here? We are not debating whether or not the Church killed heretics. That's a given. You said they killed women for being independent thinkers. If they kille men and women you can hardly say they were targeting women out of a fear of them. Well I don't remember where I heard that, but if some cultures will stone a woman for adultery or disrespecting her husband it is not really a stretch.

If woman are smarter then men where have all the major inventions came from that has so impacted society, why do men almost always excel in the fields of science, medicine, engineering, mathematics why is it the most brilliant minds in the world belong to men, such as Einstein, Gates, Jobs, Bell, Edison, woman have all these freedoms because of the inventions of men, men for the most part still dominate the world, and don't underestimate the advantage of having superior physical strength. That is a very easy question to answer. Women were suppressed in the job market and in the educational system. In just my own lifetime there was a time when a woman could not get credit independent from her husband. Oh how soon we forget the way things were.

JB, I agree with you 100% that women have been oppressed in many cultures since time began. Women have been discriminated against and physically assaulted for fighting for their rights. So have African Americans, Jews and countless other groups of people. But, what does this have to do with women being smarter than men or vice versa?

I am asking for people's opinions. As for white people vs black people... that would be racist. And your claim in the OP is sexist.

JB, I agree with you 100% that women have been oppressed in many cultures since time began. Women have been discriminated against and physically assaulted for fighting for their rights. So have African Americans, Jews and countless other groups of people. But, what does this have to do with women being smarter than men or vice versa? Quite a bit actually. Survival of the fittest. Men are larger and stronger than women. They have a physical advantage. At one time I liked men who were larger and stronger... until I realized that if push comes to shove, and there was a disagreement or a fight, I would be the loser in that fight. Has any women reading this ever lived with an unpredictable abusive spouse? Have you ever had to hide in a closet, or go get a motel room when you heard him coming home or his car in the driveway? I feel very lucky that I didn't live in a third world country where men practically own their wives and have the power of life and death over them legally. When your options for escape and safety are limited, you have to learn to outsmart your oppressor.

I don't know whether women are smarter than men; I am just thankful for the women that were smart enough to start the Feminist movement. It has given me the chance to have a wonderful career rather than suffering the sentence of being stuck in a home as a housewife as well as being at the mercy of a man. Life is good.

Men always chose women whom they think are not as smart as they are because smart women intimidate them. No no no no I have known some AMAZINGLY smart women, and they didn't intimidate me at all. I go for the smart, honest women.

I take great offense at this though. I have a 17 year old son. I guess I should just let him know now that he's nothing but an idiot with good upper body strength. In fact, maybe we should just take all little boys out of school and put them to work doing manual labor. Since they are not as smart as women. This conversation makes me ill. I'm outta here

Men always chose women whom they think are not as smart as they are because smart women intimidate them. I don't think all men chose women not as smart as them but a lot certainly do. As well as it being intimadating; its also about control. A man can't control a smart woman.

I think most people ain't that bright ...most of the rest are total dumbasses. Still..I try to treat everyone as an equal. It works out. :)
