my homeboys don't have necessarily to be a mexican. it's not a matter of nationality.
my homeboy is any american (because he/she belongs to the american continent the mass of land which extends from the farthest north of canada to the farthest south of argentina), who risks his/her life trying to find a better way of leaving. once again kerryo u fail in looking at the big picture. u r pointing out just one person (carlos) whose family immigrate from lebannon (what a coincidence). 43 million of americans don't have health insurance maybe because they don't want to pay? who knows? they have their reasons. |

Miguel,
When presented with inconvenient truths like healthcare, you go into your litany of dissing stingy U.S. citizens, saying they don't have the big picture? You suggest they don't have health insurance because they are too lazy or cheap, all while excusing illegals for not becoming documented and contributing to the infrastructure they expect to get for nada? I think something's wrong with your camera. Tell me, how many children do you support and what do you think it costs a week for a family of four in the U.S. to have even crappy health insurance? When was the last time you were through emergency critical care and saw what it costs, both back in the early 90's and lately? You would be astounded. Did you know that it takes my local hospital 4 months to bill an emergency room visit? That it can take as long as 6 hours to be seen? And where it used to cost less than $200 in '98, in 2005 it was running at least $1000. Because when you go there, especially on a weekend, the place is like Noah's Ark with lots of illegals who then don't pay the bill. I know this because I know people who work there and because I paid some of the bill out of my own pocket. I also can prove I've paid as much as 1/3 as much for THE SAME tests at Johns Hopkins because they are a teaching hospital where you pay up front before treatment. I know you don't want to hear any of this because you feel "It's not my problem." Be that as it may, maybe you shouldn't be so surprised when your propaganda falls on deaf ears then. Not that I expect you to address any of this, but maybe your shouldn't be so quick to complain when you get back exactly what you give. -Kerry O. |

Lonely..you fudge your stats alot...first you talk about immigrants..and then add Illigal ones into your info...when most of all the Positive attributes you mention are about legal immigrants. No one is complaining about legal immigrants, I think most of Americans come from a link to immigrants in some form or another...even American Indians might be "immigrants" from Aluetian ancestry. As for your contention that "Illigal Immigrants" pay taxes and into Soc. Security...is rediculous. The only way you can pay taxes or SS is by obtaining a SS#...so if they are paying into it, it is because they are breaking two laws...one coming here illegally and two..falsifing legal documents, Which they should be prosecuted for and sent back to where-ever they came from. As for stats...how abouut these
According to ImmigrationCounters.com , here are some of the realities that Flake-Gutierrez would airbrush out of the picture: Number of Illegal Aliens in the Country 20,807,645 Money Wired to Mexico City since January, 2006 $22,213,001,672.00 Cost of Social Security Services for Illegal Aliens since 1996 $397,450,739,563.00 Number of Children of Illegal Aliens in Public Schools 3,958,789 Cost of Illegal Aliens in K-12 Since 1996: $13, 965,063,431.00 Number of Illegal Aliens Incarcerated 332,594 Cost of Incarcerations Since 2001 $1,398,127,429.00 Number of Illegal Aliens Fugitives 642,799 Skilled Jobs Taken by Illegal Aliens 9,872,838 Figures can trick your eyes. Take particular note that items 2,3,5, and 7 reflect BILLION not millions of dollars -- and that item 3 exceeds one-third of a TRILLION dollars. Can you imagine how much it will cost taxpayers if we triple the number of Illegals entering this country!! |

i will address KerryO:
Last year i had an emergency apendix surgery the Doctor told me that if i would have waited about another 2 hours I would've been dead. After a month they sent me a a bill for $17,000 which I'm not going to pay because I don't have the means. However, just for the sake of my honor I'm sending them $25 each month. Therefore, I know how much health care costs. What does illegal immigrants have to do with this? If the Social Security Administration is in agony since the 80's. Why do u think that the government invented 401(k)? Why do u think the government is pushing people to get private retirement funds? Ergo, don't tell me the immigrants are liable for it. I don't have children, but I pray everyday for God to bless me with them. However, if u read all my posts you'll know that I'm an international student. I'm required by immigration to take 12 credit hour per semester. I have to pay $268.50 per credit plus books that sums $8,000 a year just in education. Then I have all the expenses the every single person has. So don't even dare to tell me that I don't know how much life costs. Searchin4MyRedWine: I just have to tell you is that statistical information can be manipulated by either side of the equation depending on which message r u trying to convey. And for the rest of the taxpayers, and once again in the name of my homeboys thank you for your taxes. You are great supporters of the immigration cause. |

Me, personally would want my paid taxes to go toward my health care instead of everyone else's. But on the flip side, all my mental health bills are paid by tax, so I can't really say anything bad, or good about it.

I rest my case. And though I feel compelled to say more, I know I'm too emotionally involved with this issue to comment further without rancor. It hits waay too close to home.
I've always had health insurance for myself and for those for whom I was responsible, often doing without to maintain it. Even though I virtually had to learn to walk again at one point, I *still* payed off the quite substantial amount of risiduals I owed over a couple of years in installment payments by working extra hours and doing extra jobs. Stupid me, huh? -Kerry O. |

A debate it's never an attempt to convince the other party that I'm right. A debate it's an attempt to let know the other party what my point of view is, and try to make the other party respect my point of view.
I know your point of view and I respect it. I think you know my point of view, and I hope you respect it. Following KerryO path, I will withdraw. There is no sense to go back on forth on an issue in which none of us has the reason. I believe the government has the answer, but they seem to be unable to take an effective action. To summarize I'll say: - Illegal immigrants are illegals they crossed the border in a fraudulent way. - There has to be a viable way to take them out of their illegality which satisfies all of our expectations. - Some of them are doing things that they should not which destroys the image of the whole hispanic community, and make North Americans more reluctant to accept them. - However, it is a minority from the vast majority who just are here to work. - Whomever, who just jump and says kick them out like dogs, is not seeing the whole picture. There are too many factors to consider. - KISS it's too simple to say, yet is hard to do in real life. I'll be off these threads because I guess that I've annoyed and hurt the feeling of some people. I can't say I'm sorry because I have expressed honestly what I think. I have been sarcastic when I've said thank you for your taxes. Finally, I have come to the conclussion that all these is fruitless. Time is wiser that you and me, and it will say who is right. Regards Miguel |
